  1. Maddison's contract is worth an awful lot more than McKenna's. We would never get 15 million for him.
  2. Good share, thanks for that. I had never even heard of the Anglo Scottish cup but nice one on stuffing Celtic at the San Giro This is pretty much as tough a draw as both teams could have got which is why everyone felt unease at first but now, having accepted that we will probably go out, I'm looking forward to the tie. It's a free swing basically and as I have said previously our squad is far more used to starting back so early which I'm hoping will level the scales a we bit. Re scottish and english football. It's ridiculous to even compare them given the financial gulf. What I will say is this though, Scottish football at it's best is an awful lot of fun and far more entertaining than the EPL imo. I say that as someone who used to watch a lot of english football and still listen religiously to the likes of football weekly. Up here you get loads of really close games, fascinating rivalry's, affordable prices and most away grounds are only 3 hours or so away at the most. There was something to play for at pretty much every match right up to and including the last fixture of the season. The technical ability of the top league is lower without question then plenty of other european leagues but it's very quick and intense and I've seen plenty of big names come to Scotland and not be able to hack it, Joey Barton most recently (he really looked clueless up here btw, it had nothing to do with the standard around him either he just couldn't adapt to the pace of the game). Sure celtic run away with the league every year but at the moment they are just so much richer than anyone else, I'm sure you can relate to this playing in the EPL.. The gulf of resource between Celtic and Aberdeen is probably higher than the gulf between Burnley and Man City to put it in a little context. I think Burnley will go through after 2 very close encounters but I wouldn't put the house on it.
  3. Nice to see some Burnley fans here, make yourselves at home folks. Tough draw for us like, you're a well run outfit and whilst I don't really pay too much attention I was really chuffed for you guys with the season you had. Dyche seems a good guy, sure he's had offers to leave too. All in I'll be very surprised if we get through this though our squad is far more used to starting the season so early I'd be very surprised if you had any hassle in Aberdeen, generally afc fans are pretty accepting outwith fans of the tribute act. That said I wouldn't go waving any England flags too vociferously just in case. You know yourselves every support has their wanker element and the flag of st george won't go down very well. I'm not saying that is right but it is what it is.

    World Cup

Waddle was fizzing, it was pretty funny. Connor McNamara was good though, fine commentator. Listened to 606 after, fuck me some England fans hate Stirling. Thought he looked really nervous but overall sadly I was pretty impressed by England and it's a depressingly good result for them. A Last minute winner that you totally deserve always gives your team a bounce and they will stuff Panama next game most likely. The Belgium game could be a cracker going on both teams performances today though.

    World Cup

I'm supporting Portugal. My mum spends a lot of time out there and the locals are genuinely really nice to her. They she feels so comfortable out there takes a lot of pressure of me since she was widowed. And they play in red.

    World Cup

Reminds you why you love football.
  7. I would suspect because judging someone negatively purely on their sexuality is a just a cunt move, always has been.

    World Cup

Spain bin their manager 2 days before they take on Portugal in their opening world cup match in response to him taking the Madrid job. Mental. Wonder who they will go for? Could be a great temp job for Wenger perhaps?
  9. Taking morality out of it (I agree with everything TC just said) would a twinkle toed player not be a good thing Rocket? Messi's toes are pretty twinkly after all.
  10. Because he's played for both rangers and the tribute act manc. He's not a hun though, he played for celtic and actual huns don't do that. Ever. I think he's a model pro and if it comes to pass I'm not adverse to it despite his age.
  11. https://londonroad.net/Forum/showthread.php?tid=15014 Very encouraging comments from Peterborough fans. Sounds like he could be a great bit of business if can find some form.
  12. Completely agree CvB, I only used it as it was in the post I quoted.
  13. Kinda ridiculous logic, real fans go to games and if anyone is likely to realise that moving to a stadium 7 out of town is gong to inhibit drinking in city centre bars it's the people that regularly attend games. The only thing I will miss about Pittodrie is the location, awful stadium.
  14. I'm after a date with Scarlett Johansson, I think we are both going to be disappointed...
  15. I'm not sure I've ever seen a club captain being captained by his club teammate internationally before.
  16. Somewhat galling to see Shinnie play LB for Scotland.
  17. Some ping from the kid here. From what I have read he seems to be a bit of a mercurial talent. Bodes well for replacing Maclean
  18. Just about to post that, fair play to them for even noticing let alone sending a letter.
  19. Before my time, which goal? Very sad to hear of coops passing, my pal Terry knew him as he used to stay in his hotel in Inverness. Total gent apparently. RIP Tattie, wish I had seen you in your prime.
  20. "Awwwwww, bless" Willie Miller's reaction to hearing beckenbaur thinking that he's God.
  21. DM would have to go fairly soon for us to even have a sniff at Lennon, his star is defo on the rise again and will take another crack at England if the right opportunity comes up. It's not outwith the realms of imagination that Leicester in a year or so might be a possible destination given his history with the club and the managerial survival rate down there. In short I am very confident Lennon will not be the next Aberdeen manager sadly. As for Ross i think he will do fine at Sunderland. Ironically after 2 successive relegations this is as good time to get the job for as long as I can remember, they are now debt free and a lot of the big earners will be coming out of contract. Saw Martin Bain got his jotters as DOF this week too which can be no bad thing. They will have a much bigger budget than their competition in the league and if he signs well he will have a hell of a chance to win it at a canter. This is a really good opportunity for Ross who does seem very likeable, good luck to him.
  22. Fair enough but it's better for Aberdeen if motherwell lose. It would be highly amusing if the victims lose but I know I'll be resenting it when we start in the first qualifying round and not the second come the start of july.
  23. Shinnie will likely have a comparative pay clause since he's club captain. I wouldn't be paying mcginn that though.
  24. Mon the tims, I feel a bit dirty saying it but if celtic win we enter europe 2 weeks later.
  25. Would be an amazing bit of business but I can't see it.
