That's why in the first post I ask, "Who'll take the blame if we don't bring in the players we need (RB and CB for starters) by the end of the transfer window?" Is that okay? We do need a right back first and foremost, everyone's aware of that. So if we don't bring in anyone, who's responsible? I'm just curious who the pessimists will blame after reading a similar thread elsewhere about Man. United in which Sir Alex is being blamed for the lack of signings this summer.

The rule doesn't make any sense, they still adhere to the old rules at times, whilst in others they go by the new rule. It's f*cking stupid and has created a grey area.

I absolutely agree with you, the new rule is f*cking stupid, doesn't make any sense and to be fair to refs, it makes a hard job even harder.

I suggest you read the rules. You'll be surprised at what you find. Nowadays you DO need to touch the ball to be offside. Well, that's the rule in theory anyway.

Technically you do, but I guess it depends on the scenario. The new offside rule is a farce. The ball can be played to a player, and he's not offside until he touches it. If he realises he's off, he can just leave it for another player. Don't even get me started on the phase of play sh*te. That's a different scenario than the one that took place today. IMO, if you're on the pitch you're interfering with play. The offside rule in its current state makes no sense, it's a relatively simple rule but FIFA have f*cked it up.
