In fact we can measure how unsuccessful Jose has been at MU. 24 points behind the winner last season. 16 points behind this season with 11 games to go. With 33 points available, the only question remaining is how big the winning margin is going to be. It is already fact (not mathematically yet of course) that MU have failed to succeed in the EPL.
-
Just had a text conversation on that very subject. This was what my mate wrote - Now they have bubbly Jose saying £300m budget not enough before he signs another bubbly cunt Sanchez. Man U are so off the pace for winning the EPL, for a second year under him, of course they can't be happy. Winning is success and a massive club with a massive budget under a massively expensive manager with a massive ego can't win the league. Simples.

This was just tweeted: - "Spot on by Spitting Image! Decades ago they made this clip that predicated the Privatisation of the Railways will miserably fail in exactly the manor that it ended up miserably failing". Edit: the tweeter's spelling errors left in... in case you were thinking of casting aspersions at my attention to detail in primary school.

Success is winning. Second is not success. A loser mindset talks about getting to a final. The winner mindset doesn't see that as any achievement. As someone who has lost a final, heavily, we don't forget that pain. We won leagues and cups but the defeat is sharper in the memory.

Not true. I haven't bought a newspaper this decade. If I read one in a cafe or whatever, any decent "news" is only repeating what the TV have said this morning or what my wife told me was on Twitter/social media the night or day before.

Yes, portrays was wot I meanted. Can I get a coke with ma rum? Isn't this a catchy toon? It bugged me the first couple of times but it's growing on me nice. 6 Music playing it just now. Fake ID.

This is an attitude that betrays great stupidity. That's not "in my opinion". It factually does reveal an arsehole nature. I know, I know, you weren't being serious but I've started so I'll finish... It's called cutting ones nose off despite one's pineapple. That was one of the most interesting and revealing articles on an AFC player that I can remember, ever. Yet you won't read it because of the publication it appears in? Whack job. It didn't cost me any money to read it either. I do confess to once buying a Sun but in mitigation, it was the bestest ever headline in any newspaper ever.
-
If you had bothered to read the article you would have appreciated that there was nothing unreliable about Kenny's words. And Bill Leckie doesn't have form for just making shit up about Aberdeen players. Yes we know that Kelvin McKenzie is one of the worst reptiles ever to have breathed but he's moved on and unless we are scousers (who have an excuse for not moving on with their rigid unconditional unforgiveness and a predisposition for victimhood), we shouldn't just write off everything that appears in that rag of a publication.

Thank you for ploughing through thousands of posts to find something that good, that interesting and for me, so relevant to a current situation. And thank you for being able to discern the difference to pass on interesting stuff rather than ham and cheese bagel, a glass of water or whatever the fuck they had for lunch. Pretty sure Kenny doesn't give exclusives to the hat though.

That quote is fantastic. I've just copied it and sent to a client. Can I ask where you found it?
-
I'll definitely be watching it next week but not convinced it will prove to be "excellent" yet. Promising start.

It was ok. I missed one episode in the middle but couldn't be arsed catching up with it. I don't want to piss on yer chips but if you hadn't seen it, you missed nothing. It was ok at best and I don't like wasting time on stuff that isn't good at least and preferably great. Agree that the last episodes were good though, surprisingly actually and also agree that the lead actor boy is a wooden top.
-
Why does an early kick-off help or hinder either of the teams? If early, the away team travels the night before, stay at a nice hotel, chills and prepares as usual. In fact, a professional outfit should never travel the day of a game if the travel is more than an hour or so.

I have an overwhelming compunction to interrupt my working day to have a rant or spik some utter shite and you poor bastards are getting it. I have previous for ranting and shit-spikkin so be warned... Actually, there's nothing really to add. Woodman hasn't done enough in two games for us to properly judge, just as Rogers in 90 minutes is also an unknown quantity. There are three reasons why I'm not confident in Woodman, well four actually since TC is saying that he was "fantastic" at Killie and most of what he posts fitba-wise, I struggle to agree with. Firstly, he looks like a bit of a faggot. A bit of a weakling, lacking in personality and not able to stamp his authority on a situation. Secondly, I'm a big fan of youth and throwing cunts into the deep end to see if they can sink or swim so I would far rather have played Rogers but I guess with the injury happening in a window, I can understand the need to take in additional cover, just in case Rogers wasn't up to the job. But they see him every day in training so why pay his wages if we didn't think he could do the job? Thirdly, I have zero faith that McInnes understands goalkeeping. For 3 reasons. If he did, he wouldn't have taken Leighton back (after McGoo binned him, although is was probably GWT who took him back and maybe McInnes binned him later - I've no idea if he's still actually on our payroll, they've got so many of the cunts on the wagebill), he wouldn't have played Clangers and he wouldn't have played Brown. But goalkeeping is the least of our worries.
-
It was too cold to judge much today. Feel sorry for Rogers. Never been given a chance, his crime being youth. Brilliant McLean goal. Such a good ball by Christie. The majority of ours had short sleeves. McGinn, McLean and Christie were exceptions but that's insane letting them out there in bare arms. That alone was the difference between 5-0 and 4-2.

Debutant Dubravka looks like an awesome signing by Rafa. The manager's dress sense continues to aghast. That waistcoat and 3 piece is disgusting.

McInnes to stay with the Dons
rocket_scientist replied to OxfordDon's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Ahh I was unaware that Oxford and The Oxford were two different Dons/posters. All I know that one Oxford was being a dick, I reacted to it and got suspended from the board again as a result whereupon I posted back on the hat after an absence of 2+ years, hated it, the blandness and nothingness of it, a wall of noise with zero harmonious sounds so got myself banned by telling the main dick that he is a dick. And why the fuck would I/any reasonably functioning imagination be interested in what's posted there TC? The place is overrun with mutants, many of them BoD. As you were folks... -
I don't consider it harsh at all. The truth is just the truth and yes there is harshness in the world. That was excellent advice. Common sense to someone who has studied/studies/is interested in the human condition with the proviso that common sense is not that common. The need to let go works for a couple of reasons at least. We can't allow our mental health to be affected by things we have no control over. Moving on fits with the need to understand and compartmentalise.

It's not possible for him to be as thick as he comes across in the media. I've no doubt his management skills are not below average, or at least not much below average but remember that the benchmark is pretty low already, "football men" not being a particularly intelligent nor innovative lot. As for the national job, no fucking way.
-
Hmmmm... tough one. He's so thick he's probably said that to a journalist but if he had applied for the vacancy and if he had asked for zero remuneration, he would need to be thanked for his interest, told that he will be considered and that we will revert to you in due course. A further investigation would need to examine how this news got out in the public domain from the SFA but for general courtesy alone, we must not succumb to the temptation to tell him that nothing is all that he's worth or that he's a fucking nothing. He's just a "football man". He could be the bastard offspring of James Calderwood, just less articulate, and the village idiot cousin of Derek McInnes, the latter having swallowed a course or seven in public speaking and PR.
-
I'm surprised that you're intrigued. I'm surprised this debate is still running. Evidence, you say. The two defeats whilst our manager was considering an offer of employment were arguably two of the worst performances we've ever seen under McInnes. It was a tactical disaster at Ibrox, compounded by Tansey being a fucking idiot the first game and Christie not being fit the second time down there. Four days after the first debacle, it was the most listless display I've ever seen. Even after they when down to 10 men, there was zero urgency to get the ball and get at them and but for a teenager with a free kick, we weren't close to scoring and didn't deserve a point. I'm also surprised that you think they had better players. I don't see it. The table doesn't back this up. Fans of the clubs that have beaten them this season - including Luxembourgers - won't think that they're a good side. I think they're pish. I don't think we're great either but man-for-man, I would expect that AFC playing at 75% could at least compete and should be able to beat Sevco playing at 75%. The difference in any sport, not just football is mentality. Attitude, hunger, desire, cal it any of these things. The manager failed to inspire and motivate our team and it was obvious in the inept performances on the park. I have no wish to prolong a discussion on something that should be quite straightforward. Some of us think that mindset played a big part in the Rangers defeats, 9 points thrown down the toilet as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying that we had a devine right to win all three games. I do know that with a better attitude and if the players believed they could win, it would not have been 9 points gained by them. For this, the manager failed big time and given the circumstances for the two games in December and his prolonged discussions looking at the prospect of a move to his first love, it's not really any surprise he failed to get AFC mentally prepared correctly.
-
I don't want to be included in what McInnes does and I think we're being too clever with 4-2-3-1's etc. Yes I see what you mean but I'm thinking about the game totally differently to him. The triangle at the back is non-negotiable i.e. Leighton Miller McLeish, Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister. McInnes doesn't understand this. 2 and 3 in front of the back 4 doesn't work for me either. I see Shinnie and Logan as attacking options too. The whole point of my triangle in the middle is to feed the flanks, GMS/Wright and Shinnie on the left, McGinn and Logan on the right. I agree he's recruited shite in the summer resulting in still shoehorning Shinnie into his not best position but in order to win big games, you need to get the players to believe in the system let alone their teammates. My use of geometric shapes to describe set ups includes triangles and lines. It's how I think. It's easy to follow. Traditional thinking doesn't use enough simplicity. Even diamonds aren't as effective because unlike my geometry, they don't apply both in attack AND defence. It's very simple. We could beat Rangers and Celtic if the manager imparted the requisite belief. If he doesn't believe it, game over.
-
I think he's quite right in that these games have been lost before they've begun, mostly cos of McInnes. This is the setup I would deploy v. Rangers: - A triangle at the back - as every good team has - of goalkeeper, McKenna and Arnason or AOC, whichever is looking the best at the time. This begs the bigger issue that five years later and our manager has NEVER played a settled CB pairing and doesn't understand the value of stability in this key function. Shinnie at LB, Logan at RB. A midfield triangle of McLean, Christie and fuck knows who else, moving fluidly together to dominate the middle of the park. If Considine had ever been allowed to grow and develop into a CB, then AOC could be a holding midfielder allowing McLean and Christie to work up the triangle towards the goal. GMS* on the left, McGinn on the right and an out and out scorer up front, May if he's fit, Rooney otherwise. * I would far rather Scott Wright had been given game time and had his confidence developed but our manager disagrees. GMS is a lightweight twinkletoes for me, with good pace for sure but not man enough for big games.

Having daughters gives us a position of absolute certainty. Men will never fully understand women and vice versa. It's hormones. It's brain-construction. It's genes. Love them. Can't fathom them.
