Great programme started on BBC4 last night about the history of Vietnam. iPlayer it. It's a series. Talking pf stereotypes, the journalist and one of the US vets nailed it. Every fight that the US got involved in was meant to be the good fight, the default position that the USA were always on the right side. As they acknowledged, and as ALL the Vietnamese vets said, the yanks kept on killing the wrong people, slaughtering hundreds of thousands of innocent villagers and indiscriminately wiping out children. But something he can't say, because he probably doesn't know, being a young man as he is, is this: - "Fight is a quality that is both genetic and environmental". Some burn to win and will fight to the death, whatever the circumstances. The best example we had of this at Pittodrie was Willie Miller. Roy Keane and Graeme Souness were phenomenal fighters.
