There have to be changes for sure. Thing is, whilst Brown, Naismith and Maloney were utter shite v. Georgia, we are so weak in terms of depth. Wee Shaun is capable of one flash of class that leads to a goal. He just didn't look capable of fuck all on Friday. I would definitely drop Broon and Naismith on principle. Naismith was appalling. He ran directly behind opponents right from the start, the lazy cunt.

Liver issues? Heavy drinker history by any chance? Or just extremely unlucky? Poor guy. Was a good footballer who never reached his potential. He wouldn't be the first and won't be the last if he did indeed take the same route.

Excellent post Tom. It's been the first very poor display under Strachan, although I could be corrected on that. I just can't remember one nearly as bad. But perhaps it was coming? Maybe we were due it? When Strachan got the job, I was pleased. Not because I thought he'd do any good. I didn't rate the players at his disposal and wasn't expecting anything. I was pleased because he would at least be entertaining in his interviews. His iWatch this week was class, as mad as a box of turtles and whilst not as snappy as his genius "velocity", very funny in its insanity and the idiosyncrasy of the perpetrator's mind. But then he appointed Dingus and that other useless fucker, McCall. Again reasons to expect fuck all and despite a bunch of journeymen, has beens and never will bes, got some remarkable performances out if them. But something went very wrong last night against a shit opposition. Niall Quinn and Neil McCann were spot on in their post match comments. For me, the volatility of the nature of the small man with ginger hair was always going to show up some time. He failed massively last night when it mattered. He's got form for inconsistency.
-
Speaking of inconsistency, Gordon Strachan was the worst I ever saw. One week he was incredible, the next, totally shite and occasionally meh. Even his meh performances were different, sometimes ok for the whole game and other times flashes of brilliance AND posted missing. He was infuriating. We never knew which Strachan would turn up. Which is why I suspect SAF wanted rid and why the two men can't stand each other.

You present your opinion like you know better than everyone else. You better be on very firm ground then. How many games do you go to? How old are you? Have you ever played the game at any decent level? Do you have particular skill in the areas of human endeavour, "high performance" sport in particular? If you've not seen a lack of effort from McGinn, over a sustained period then you've not been watching or you're not qualified to see properly. He's started this season with great attitude but you're ignoring his past. Perhaps because you weren't there. Had you been, you would have heard his own goalkeeper from the other side of the stadium at St Mirren (assuming you sit with us in the away end) berating him during yet another abject display. McGinn was good, then he was great, like very great, then he went off the boil for an alarming length of time. Most of us all saw it, his own team mates did. Some performers are consistent. Others roller coast. The inconsistent ones don't dip in form because they lose their technical ability. They do so for other, more human reasons. A good manager gets the most out of his people. It's been an encouraging start this season, for not just McGinn and McInnes. Long may it continue.
-
The difference was that Jack got targeted and marked out of the game. Celtic's tactics were good. They knew he could make things happen. We know that he's not good enough to play at the highest level and he hits his ceiling against better teams. But at least he's trying. If, and there were signs that McGinn was trying v. Celtic last year but to zero effect (again) McGinn gets posted missing, that would be unforgivable. He's never been a consistent performer and that's why I don't like him. Fergie wouldn't have put up with someone like him, a temperamental talent. He demanded all from them all all of the time. It's McInnes' job to get the most of them. With McGinn, he hasn't. Undoubtedly the potential to be our best player, he's not delivered anywhere near his max although encouraging signs this season from him, eventually.
-
Agree Logan will be professional enough to give his all, if selected, which he should be. The fact we got a RB in was good forward planning by McInnes. No chance Logan will apologise to the Celtic fans for scoring against them. About fucking time McGinn did something against his beloved hoops. Unfortunately can't make the game cos of a date clash but I'd be watching Logan and McGinn's attitude and commitment in particular. If McGinn delivers another half hearted performance, that would be a serious failing by our management team.

Well eventually, we find a point of contention, a difference of opinion. You are right. I more than assume that he knows the answer to why he got involved. Ian Donald provided the opportunity, possibly inadvertently but given his record before and since, probably inadvertently. Never met a successful businessman yet who does anything, let alone BIG decisions, without a clear reason why.
-
Yeah it is late and I have no idea how to respond to that. I'm not talking about any specific individual motive and I certainly didn't say anything about flats at Pittodrie. I'm talking about a history of actions that might point to learning about a fundamental question as to what drives those actions. It appears that not only has the question - of what Milne's principal objectives are (in his capacity as chairman of AFC) - been largely ignored, the question itself may be beyond comprehension and/or imagination. Unsurprisingly.
-
If you suspect that you misread, then read it again. I've not implied anything. I have SAID that he has horribly mismanaged the club. I have said that the question of his motives and ambitions are relevant, one which has been largely/totally ignored and one I said that the jury was out on. Newsnight right now is a similar neglect of critical thinking. Just like we ignore Milne's motives, we similarly never ask WHY in relation to the refugee crisis. Why is it happening? Why did Cameron flip in 24 hours? Did one photo/image/video honestly change policy? He made a big faux pas when he spoke yesterday. He said that "we" needed a new government to replace Assad. He was saying that taking refugees was not the answer. He was right to touch on the political instability in these countries of course but nobody is reporting in the mainstream presstitute media as to how it came to pass? This is ALL OUR making and until we start to ask hard and intelligent questions, examine the facts, think outside the box and explore EVERY possibility, the truth will always be presented to us how someone wants us to see it. No I don't trust Milne because he's not done enough to earn trust and respect. On the contrary and particularly his conduct at various AGM's I've attended over the last 20 years, he is far from getting trust. Most don't even ask the right questions or are blinded by a lack of imagination and even the public incredulity that Hitler famously uttered. History will tell the truth. Whilst it's being made, most don't know what the fuck is going on. For numerous and various reasons.
-
You saying he's NOT mismanaged our club? What others do is irrelevant, assuming you've read all their accounts? I understand some have been profitable, Geoff Brown at St J, Thompson at DUFC, even Hamilton turned a profit.
-
And anyway, who gives a fuck about other clubs? I've not read the annual accounts for them for the last 20 years. From what I understand, some have been well managed. Fuck they've even been able to build new stadia/stands whilst Milne turned our balance sheet to shit. Who's examining Wm Donald? He's not been the chairman. He baled us out of deep shit.
-
Phenomenal goal by Wales. Just great work to flick the ball inside, an inviting hanging cross and with a lot still to do, Bale showed why he's one of the best in the world.
-
How much did Milne invest into AFC and when? Thompson owned DUFC. Every other case example had the majority shares. Milne has never had even 30% of AFC.
-
Interesting and apt choice of word given that the jury needs to establish beyond reasonable doubt in order to convict. Allow me to demonstrate the "clean thinking" that the late Steve Jobs spoke of; Fact 1: AFC plc has been horribly financially mismanaged Fact 2: there are only three possible reasons for it Fact 3: Wm Donald recently invested in the club "Where we are right now" in terms of fact 3 does not impact on the indictment. The case for the prosecution is unaffected by the Donald's amazing generosity, the full extent of which, which will become apparent in the next set of accounts. Milne's ambitions and motivations operate independently from 3rd parties and external benefactors. Deliberate engineering, incompetence or misfortune (or a combination thereof) are the reasons for fact 2, fact 1 already having been painfully established by successive balance sheets going back the full period of Milne's tenure, a period spanning three decades. It is suspected - and the jurors are able to confirm - that his "other business interest", SMG was not financially mismanaged, which reduces any defence arguments on the question of him being incompetent or unlucky with regard to his losing all our money, whether shareholders, ST holders, sponsors, investors or fans. Tough job the jury have got. The biggest responsibility they have is to cut through the spin, disregard it and stick to the facts. Then it's not so tough.
-
Disappointed but not surprising. I reckon an injury to any of our players will make life difficult. I have had the jury out for a very long time considering the question of Milne's motives and ambitions. 20 years should be long enough to have returned a verdict but it's still split apparently. Some need more evidence.

Cheerleaders cheer leerers... and Tyrant! So much for assimilating to the country which gave refugee status. This is an underused emocion (or whatever they're called): - Perhaps I should frame all my posts to include a line where the use of it is appropriate. But then that might be a contrivance and that would never do. The grey sky is a touch depressing. Or it may be that I was drinking for 8 hours last night. Either way, I'm not feeling full of energy and the hair of the dog might be in order.
-
The cheerleader idea at Pittodrie didn't last long. One freezing night was it. The whole concept of cheerleaders is an interesting one. The name would suggest that they are there to lead the cheering of the team but isn't there something more sinister at play here? Are cheerleaders not leered at by sad old men? The young girls are dressed to cheer the leerers. Muslims wouldn't approve. Speaking of which, a moozlim asked at Aberdeen Sports Village yesterday if they had men only swimming sessions. They don't but what is it with men not being able to control their urges, which presumably the segregation philosophy is all about? All a bit fucked up if you ask me. Which you didn't.

Ward is the most valuable addition to the squad this century. You can't win titles with anything other than an excellent keeper. Even a competent keeper isn't enough to win the league. You need a good one at least. McLean and Shinnie have been great signings but Ward may prove to be the best. We've not had a competent keeper for over a decade before him.

Interestingly, the 22/1 that Coral and another were offering last week has gone. Skybet and 32 Red are offering 18's now. That's a great trend to be having. And not surprising given the weak performance by Sellick last week and our 5th win on the spin. But since none of us KNOW who's going to win in May, I hope it's us but my opinion hasn't changed. Like hilton, I've seen us win the league 3 times and I saw our best footballing team come 2nd in 1991, which was a travesty. I only missed one away game that season and we were fabulous all over the pitch, Jim Bett pulling the strings. Having seen what championship teams look like, I don't think this squad is good enough yet. But it's getting a hell of a lot closer and for that, we should all be grateful.
-
Are we talking about fan's having a defeatist attitude or the players? That would be absurd, the players not thinking they could win. Are you saying I have a defeatist attitude because it is my opinion that the bookies have got it right? Because I don't think our squad isn't deep enough doesn't mean they can't win. I already said I thought 33/1 was value. The whole point of betting is to seek value. I should know, I've been doing it long enough. I have no doubt that our best 11, including the team that played the last twice IS good enough to beat Celtic. But that's not what I was saying. What are you saying?
-
Are you suggesting that there IS a defeatist mentality within our ranks? Have we gone full circle here? Our manager and our director of football openly accused us of having unrealistic expectations. I've not met a Dons fan yet who hasn't been enthused by the uplift we've experienced under McInnes. A considerable uplift given the total shite we employed as managers spanning three decades.
-
I've been saying consistently that 22/1 doesn't tempt my money. 33/1 would. What I'm also consistently saying is that our squad isn't deep enough to win in May. As none of us can predict the future with certainty, it's all opinion. If you have a different opinion or a particular point to make then make it. Otherwise we're wasting time, not just ours. I don't really care about speculating on coming 2nd. Winning the league has to be the goal.
-
I'm also an optimist by nature but I'm also a realist and I have experience. We will agree to disagree. I don't think we're good enough to win the SPFL in May. Time will tell.
-
You must rate Brown, Flood, Robson, Smith and Pawlett better than I do. Flood was great for us before his legs started to go. Robson is finished in my opinion. Pawlett isn't consistent enough and is too lightweight for me. Cammy, I like but has a big development curve ahead of him so I don't see him as nearly strong enough to be in a championship winning team yet. I'm fearful of any injuries or suspensions. I think we're too thin a squad to keep on winning.
