The 2011/12 season is two games old. Way too early to say that this won't be a landmark season, the breakthrough year, the first decent team for almost two decades, the first time AFC have produced something that anyone can be proud of for a very long time.
But I doubt it. In fact, I am certain that this won't be the exceptional season to the recent rule, despite having the most ably qualified manager of the last two decades. The woeful decline of AFC is set to continue unchecked in my opinion. Not the usual stance for me, a normally optimistically oriented person but where AFC is concerned, I reckon it's obvious what's gone wrong and why.
"A single-goal margin does scant justice to Saints' overwhelming superiority in this game" is the latest humiliation reported in the Sunday Times. If you believe, like me, that this is a ship that has been sailing nowhere and given the present signs, will continue to underperform hugely, then WHY do you think this is?
