  1. Boro got Ravanelli. Dundee got Cannigia. Surprise big name signings are possible where the will and the skill to do it is there.
  2. I wasn't aware that we were disagreeing on anything. I was aware that you were asking questions. I think neither. I have never seen BN play two consecutive games and come away thinking how good he was. He has the odd great touch or pass and scored the odd goal that wasn't a penalty, but never influences the game enough for me. I'm not blaming him for this, he's been the best midfielder in a bad bunch. Seve since 2006 has gone south for reasons unexplained, or his manager has been unable to lift him, but I've not seen any substantial improvement in Nicholson in this time. He's just an average player. If he ever got selected to start a Scotland match, I would eat my words, but I'm pretty sure he is what he is.
  3. I would never describe those three players as mediocre, although Markus was a touch lightweight to be the real deal. You may think AFC's destiny is to be nothing more than mediocre. Under the present leadership, you are probably right. That is tragic. However, the thread last week about winner mentality and ambition comes to mind, the one with the Roy Keane example. I said Barry wasn't good enough to play for a team that could win "anything", not "everything". There is a difference. I don't rate him as highly as others do, although I acknowledge that he's been the best of a bad midfield bunch since Seve went tits up.
  4. ...to do exactly the same as what?
  5. Work it out. His 100% isn't good enough for anything other than a mediocre run of the mill, mid table, never win anything, football team.
  6. How else do you interpret his consistent "I'm leaving Aberdeen" attitude? I would have said if it was a factual statement.
  7. For him to make it clear to us that he was leaving, suggests that he thinks his stock is higher than it actually is. I have no problem with him going to make more money, but it's now looking like nobody wants him. I think it's tragic that he's regarded as such an important asset, and an indication of how far we've dropped in standards. His biggest and most consistent fan is his manager. His manager has consistently failed to get anything other than all right out of him. Has he improved since 4 years ago? He's a mediocre player capable of getting a berth in a mediocre team. That is all he will ever be.
  8. This would suggest that the abilities, efforts and competence of the Director of Football and the board are less than ideal. I agree totally. This would suggest that the Manager isn't the best either. Agree with this also. Maguire has got something though. He sniffed out some crucial late winners. He's still young. He has pace. His shooting can be very wayward but early days.
  9. Staggering attitude from a player who thought he was so much better than us though. If he stays, on surely reduced terms, he better work harder.
  10. Agreeing with you. He was the best of the ex Dungfermline lot - Langfield, Byrne, Dempsey, Crawford - although Brewster put in surprisingly good shifts.
  11. So they have. He must be good, then. Aceeptable last four years are they? Don't answer. I couldn't give a fuck what you have to say. I'm away to have lunch. Tripe and suet pudding.
  12. ST, you didn't know what you were talking about as I was able to point out, but still had a go anyway, then you reverted to "cunt" in your frustration. Then you made up shit. You're fucking unbelievable. I will leave you alone now. You can self-validate all you want, but I think you contribute more when you just say the word poop alot. That was fucking hilarious. Well done.
  13. As I said, I think Miller's tenure will end in tears. I offered reasons behind my opinion. You don't agree. Thats fine. Why do you think he will succeed? Do you think he's doing a good job? Are the measurement criteria that we can use, results, and player and management contract negotiations, satisfactory for you? Am I wrong about the reasons for his appointment? Am I wrong in saying that a senior position such as this should go to someone with a solid track record of achievement, or with the potential to succeed? Am I wrong to suggest that his defective personality may ultimately prove to be one of the reasons why he will fail? Why do you think he will succeed? What criteria do you base this on?
  14. No it is not a saying of the NE. It is a fucking lie to say this. If I may be allowing my negative opinions about Milne and Miller to colour my judgement of the job he's doing, then I can assure you that I do retain a sense of perspective and whilst he need to go a little step further than most to convince me, I very much want him to succeed. I don't think he will, for many reasons which I have spelled out, but there is no way I harbour any irrationality or am capable of blindness in this regard. The fucking results, people. The fucking results for over 10 years is Milne's responsibility. Miller's appointment was a sham. His "performance" can be judged by results only.
  15. Much as I understand how you wish to deflect from your own embarrassment, this won't do it. Bobby is right in that we may not appreciate how effective he may or may not have been until he's gone, but the only thing that sparked this off was my opinion that it will all end in tears, offering the reasons why I felt this, being the results, the reason for his appointment, the lack of essential ingrdients to qualify him for the role (personality and previous track record). You argued for the sake of your own voice, despite admitting you didn't understand "to be honest".
  16. True. But the qualifications for his phoney appointment are relevant, his history and track record and personality to qualify him for the role are all relevant when it, as some feel, ends in tears.
  17. I understand your energy in trying to steer the debate away from your area of inexpertise. Who organised the boycott of the EE? As far as I understand it was only the EE, which is pretty fucking dumb if you think about it, AJ being what it is. No, it is not a saying of the NE. Wherever you heard this, it is not a saying known to the NE. You are speaking absolute shite, again. And you hate it. RedTV may not give you anything other than AFC plc want you to hear.
  18. Although the time when he was pissed in the Soul bar and went "There's only one..." and put two arms up, pointing to his own head, recently, sort of cancels that one out. So whether or not he is a cunt, and this point is swinging back and forth, the debate is whether he is doing a good job. I think the best point made so far is the one questioning Milne, as it is screamingly fucking obvious why Miller got appointed in the first place. He is a stooge, a poor pawn in a sick game, that will end in tears.
  19. The reasons for his appointment? The background to that appointment? You don't know how he's doing? What are his specific areas of responsibility? You know this. Therefore you are in a position to judge. Personality and track record are essential to examine when considering the appointment in the first place. The same reservations many of us had then don't disappear.
  20. Because I objected to your view? A view you admitted you didn't understand "to be honest", but carried on regardless?
  21. What's wrong with the P & J? Best paper for AFC coverage. The only one quite frankly. "Me, me, me, me, me..."? You, you, you, you, you... As you said, you didn't understand "to be honest". What, like you're sometimes not honest? I had no idea what you meant by arse biscuits, thats a new one on me, but I appreciate it, thanks. I've taken your advice. Sexy.
  22. Good post. For clarity, as I think you'll already know, my opinion about insults is positive in that, as has been proved yet again, it sparks a bit of intensive debate. In fact, perhaps we should insult more often if it guarantees some action. The people who object however, or get upset, have reasons to object or get upset. Examination of those reasons would be revealing.
  23. What is your position? What is your opinion? Make yourself clear. I hear noise, but I fail to hear what you are saying. Are you arguing for the sake of it? What is it that you have to say on the subject? If you think my opinion is so wrong, point out the weaknesses in my opinion. Say something for once.
  24. You seem to ignore the insult when he used the word cunt, that sparked that response? Why were you so selective? I think I know why you were, but honestly, on a fixed messageboard system, don't you think first? How does this make you look?
  25. "Either of us"? You weren't part of the debate that sparked the responses. I'm sorry, did you say something? Did you make a point, any point? Yes it is. I will take your advice.
