  1. Think I might be seeing the issue here, possibly which has caused this hilarious confusion leading to you percieving McGhee as a competent manager. Let me help you. Ricky Foster has played the majority of his Aberdeen games as a full back, not a striker. I can't remember last time he played up front. Some might even say that full-back is 'his position'. Vujadinovic isn't a full back. Having seen him play and seen where he has been been played, he is a centre-half. Even if he is/was then I hardly think one full back is sufficient for any side. Do you? In the mean time, he's accumulated a squad of seven strikers.
  2. 1. He saw fit to spend the allotted wages on strikers and centre-halves rather than Grant Basey. 2. He saw fit to remove our only full back from the squad to accomodate another striker. 3. Things he could have done differently: signed players in a variety of positions to try and create a balanced squad, rather than trying to shoe-horn central players and children into wide areas.
  3. I've had the same, genuine football fans seem to be pitying rather than engaging in hilarious mocking 'banter'. In many ways thats worse.
  4. [witty and dry remark regarding tits]
  5. Correct. Not Howard's fault though, there's a chap picking the team who should be spotting some of this stuff like.
  6. Not sure what to make of today. We played well in spells, but even then very few chances were created. I think its blatantly obvious that we suffer from lack of wide players; when Aluko has an off-day, we struggle big time there, although Paton put in a good shift when he came on. Unfortunetly, St. Mirren looked a lot more effective than us when going forward, and that says a lot for our shambles of a defence - three big bastard centre-halves should mean that we're confident in the air, but our last eight goals conceded have come from headers. Go figure. Though they were individually poor, I was still embarassed by the treatment of Ifil and Howard. All in all we probably deserved a point, but then if you don't create chances and concede stupid goals then you're going to lose matches. That's kinda how it works. Fucking football.
  7. In/Oot: In Prematcher: Pub in Glasgow During game: Freezing, bored, unhappy. Postmatcher: Pub again. Prediction: Nil all.
  8. Sounds a wee bit like Pointless by Jeff Connor, where East Stirlingshire are followed for a season. I found that quite enjoyable.
  9. In/oot: Oot Prematcher: Sleep Match: Pub Postmatcher: Pub Prediction: Insipid defeat.
  10. Attributed to the Record in the BBC gossip column this morning. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/9101148.stm
  11. I can't speak for you, but my idea of a team is having players in the roles best suited to their attributes within the chosen system, as opposed to being shoehorned into unfamiliar roles at the expense of the TEAM.
  12. It does. Play him up front and you're more likely to see a goal or a good performance.
  13. 42. http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=41511
  14. He didn't reference table tennis in that section of the book (although, as you can imagine, it gets a good going-over elsewhere) but it did show a few pieces of evidence supporting this theory. If I recall correctly the most obvious trends in Jan/Feb/March births he mentioned were in professional ice hockey. It's an interesting read and certainly shatters a few myths regarding 'talent', although Syed's writing style gets a little irritating after a while.
  15. In Bounce by Matthew Syed he makes a case for more sporting professionals being born in the early months of the year, purely because of their early adantage within age groups. Can't remember the specific points though.
  16. At least this would leave us with one full-back in the squad. Would have preferred another though. Edit: Just read this on the Guardian website Although I imagine every case is different, it doesn't set a promising precedent for us to sign an uncapped Montenegrin chap on loan. Or is there other criteria for obtaining a work permit?
  17. His missus wanted a new kitchen.
  18. Hope he doesn't get too bored.
  19. Utterly crass comments in my opinion. Harsh in private, malicious and completely unproductive in public.
  20. Similarly, I've gone for ICT, Raith, Rotherham and Hearts at 18/1 (Paddy Power)
  21. I'd agree with this. Another main problem, maybe not today but in future, are the full-back areas. I wouldn't want to go through the season playing McArldle and Considine there every week as they'll be shown up against better wingers. Progress on the Basey front would be helpful, while I'd swap Foster in for McArdle immediately. Otherwise all was well, Folly and Hartley in the middle is a vast improvement - even if they're not playing a blinder the opposition midfield isn't going to get an easy ride a la last season. 2010-2011 Aluko is fantastic, as long as he is fit we will have at least some creativity, while Pawlett will no doubt only get better and better. Top of the league
  22. It was 7/4 for -2, can't remember the -3 odds. Only a wee profit in the end.
  23. Man utd -2 and -3 tonight. I feel a hiding coming on.
