First set of games gone - where do you think we will finish?
stoney replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I think an upset for us considering the past 6/7 seasons would be getting to a cup final! And if we get there whats to say we cant win! I am seeing the changes in the dynamic in our team it might not be good enough YET but at least we have the look of a team who want to win, young players that are hungry for success. It takes time to right wrongs, at least the board seen the potential in the youth and made a change to the management to bring it on! Mcghee has a very stable platform to work with, im confidant next season will see good things for us! -

Not really fussed this season, This year is all about getting young blood in the team and building for the future! Got three really good young lads getting lots of experiance in the first team, Have heard that there will be a few more shortly! After these guys have a season under their belt and we can get another experianced striker in theres no reason we cant cause a few upsets next season! -
We no longer have to endure duff, mackie and young for a start, plus we have some exciting lads getting a run in the first team. From what i have heard there will be more to come in the next few weeks.

Happy enough with Ifill just getting rid of the ball to be honest, amount of goals i have seen us lose over the years gifted by our defence is shocking, same players that let Calderwood down are letting Mcghee down, but at least the guy is doing something about it.

We never started playing untill we were down to 9 men and knew we HAD to fight, really dissapointed with kerr / mcdonald in the middle did nothing untill we were down to 9 men then they started to try - as too did miller. Hibs arnt that great, certainly a team we should be beating. Hopefully fyvie aint out for too long - he was everywhere in saturday again.

No Chance - i very much doubt we would have seen much of Paton or Pawlett either Things are looking up - all these young lads with a season under their belt we could do some damage in the coming seasons! -
Thought the match was fairly poor on saturday - hearts hardly looked like scoring until we gifted them a goal - we never created that much - but enough to warrent winning the game IMO Fyvie had another good game, and no doubting the fact the game changed when pawlett went off and Aluko came in on...............Aluko was murder and it was him losing the ball in a stupid place that ulitmately cost as a goal. Saying all that - looking at our back line for the game, a draw isnt the worst result in the world Defo two points dropped rather than a point gained. Hopefully we can "man up" for the united game
-
That team would murder our team from last season.

How can 5 clean sheets at this stage of the season be papering over cracks? What possible cracks could there be to cover when you dont let in any fucking goals? 80% of our league games this season have led to us not losing a goal - where are the cracks? Havnt conceded a league goal since the first game and sitting 3 points from 2nd place - what more could you ask for? This time last season we had lost 4 in a row and in doing so we had lost 10 goals...........those are cracks. Win against killie on saturday and we could be sitting 2nd.....Tough game but the way the defence is playing we could easy sneak it, then we have the comfort of two home games. COME ON YOU REDS
-
Just what i was saying to my mates, makes sense to hit them with pace, would be tempted to leave mackie on the bench and unleash him with 15/20 mins to go
-
Guess things will be a lot better and the doom and gloom will lift after we get a result on saturday then
-
You will have to tell me what the new rules / standards are this season then............ Just so we know whats acceptable or not lolz
-
I can imagine how pissed of you must have been.........But didnt care enough to check last night :itchchin: I thought the old line on this site was you could only be judged on league games? Amazing how the tunes have changed.
-
Least we made a fight of it - at two nil down it would have been easy to throw in the towel, did well to get it to extra time. Lets be honest it was the draw that nobody wanted, They will be in the premier league next season. Heres to Saturday COYR

Care Factor?

You can slag the team / boss all you want. The team are doing well and things are looking brighter for seasons to come with young players stepping up to the plate and the old dross getting shipped out. Like i said under calderwood - i would take one season of less than startling stuff if it meant getting youngstars up to speed and first team experiance.............. I have my wish, i just hope im right. Youth is the future of the club and under the previous regime we were standing still.

Scotland International Keeper. Defence is solid as fuck Midfield will come good. We will always need new strikers
-
Hard to be dissapointed, nice win in a game we would have lost / drawn at this time last year, Guess some people will be harder to win over than others. By this time last season we had already lost three home games, so think there are signs of improvment. In last seasons match there were less than 9500 in the crowd, so looks like we are attracting people back. Just takes time to sort out the shambles left behind. Defence looks solid enough - even without our best defender, still lacking in midfield and age old problem of getting goals but once the players get used to playing the system im sure things will click into place . Feeling good about taking something at Ibrox. At least we know we will be playing to our own strengths and not changing everything to accomodate the opposition.

Could well be, I meant apart from fluke results lol
-
4-0 dons seriously though, must be due a good home win, when was the last time we scored four at home in a league game?
-
Im right though. As much as you hate to accept it, im right. And i have also been advised that due to the inclimate weather i can leave work............. Pub for stoney

Aberdeen used 21 players in first team games last season Langfield, Foster, Severin, Considine, Mulgrew, Kerr, Mcdonald, Aluko, Miller, Mackie, Bossu, JDV, Duff, smith, Maguire, Mair, Paton, Pawlett, Vidal, Wright. I just did the age now (nothing changes apart from everyone will be a year younger than now obviously as it was this time last year) Also rounded up to years rather than months obviously too time consuming Total age was 540 for those players average was 25.7 Hamilton used a massive 32 players last year (and a heap of oldies in there too) and they came in at a total of 821 years, average of 25.6 And im willing to bet that Motherwell had a far younger squad than us. What you guys have done is listend to jimmys spin about how young the team is and not look at whos actually PLAYED in the first team. Bottom line is that the players the PLAYED for us last season had an average age of 25.7 (if you want to take a year off that as we have obviously aged a year that would be 24.7) im willing to bet any amount of money that is not the youngest team from last year.

Team on the day for that random game was aberdeen 293 years - hamilton 265 years i'll do the squad as well although i dont seen the point as i know the end result.
