Mark McGhee determined to land flair pair Hendrie & Hartley
McMaster replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Maybe jumping the gun here but could it be possible that the lure of playing alongside Hendrie might be part of Hartleys thoughts of signing for the dons? Maybe part of the deal that he will sign if Hendrie signs, although very doubtful. It just seems very strange that McGhee turned his back on what he said about it being one or the other I have a funny feeling that even though he says wages arent a problem for Hendrie and Hartley it may well scupper the wage budget for all the other players he wanted to bring in to bolster the squad. So it could well be a small strong squad, was that not what we had with Jimmy? Did McGhee not say he wanted a bigger squad? Seems its the only way to perform in SPL. But with a good youth system. Big season for the kids as well this year, but surely Hartley and Hendrie must have a good effect on them -
Diamond captain for sure. Between Clangers and Fozzy for vice. Depends on players coming in i guess, but still think it should be a player that has been at the club rather than a newbie that should get captaincy.
-
So its one or the other then Not sure Hendrie will like the sounds coming from McGhee when he basically says Hartley is first choice. Maybe should have kept that on the QT although he is thinking it. Keep the fingers crossed something good comes from all of this. Would be a kick in the face if we ended up with neither.

-
yip, would take Hartley no bother. Watched bits of him on the Football league show and he seemed to be popping up with goals and assists at Bristol City. No sure if this Lee Hendrie thing is right or no but having players like that, taking over from Kerr and MacDonald would suit me. Experience at last!! Both can play right and centre which is good.

A bit of a sore point for me in the past was the lack of trialists coming to Pittodrie. We must pay scouts for a reason. Good luck to them, hope they are worth it
-
He is used to an empty stadium with fans not singing and cheering , should have signed him up for the last few home games of last season :P :P
-
Far too early really. Depends on our signings. To be fair even if we dont get the players that i think we need in, i will still be getting nervous afore the Hamilton game and getting excited about the prospect of winning the cup and perhaps splitting the old firm. Thats what football does to you.

Alright folks! Just wondering what sort of back up Aberdeen give to individual supporters groups if any. Do they do packages for trips coming to Pittodrie, or discounts for tickets etc. Or would they help bringing ex-players up for dinner/talks etc. Will be contacting Aberdeen FC themselves just wondering if any of you guys have had dealings with this in the past. Cheers

Maybe a bit harsh. Would do a job, compared to Kyle Lafferty, not much in it for me. Mijd you, £2.5 plus Miller and the Huns left with hee-haw of a team. That would do me fine
-
So since he is seen as a replacement for Lee Miller, please God tell me he is not on his wages!! I am sure he will give his all but an ex-goalie turned striker a few years ago should not be earning the same wages as a Miller (or Kyle if he was coming at the time). Unproven really and a bit of a gamble. Good back up player. but a replacement, no, sorry! Plus his injury might put him into the Jamie Smith category What does ridiculous money actually mean? Be interested to find out . .
-
Aye, Smith was brought up earlier on about the usual coming back to Aberdeen. I take it that idea was quashed? By the way this isnt meant to be a 'Bring back . . . .' thread, just interested if we turned him down.
-
Would take Killen. Thought he played ok in the world cup, shame about some of his other team mates Damn sweepstake
-
Still slightly worried about age. Sorry to moan as i am grateful to see players coming in, but we really could use some experienced players on that park. Welcome to Pittodrie, sure he will be a good player
-
Just seen that Kris Boyd is away doon the road to Middlesbrough. Another striker in their squad!! Lee was hardly getting a game as it was last season and with the like of Boyd, MacDonald, Mido, Lita and Killen in their team just wondering what will happen to his career. Probably the usual link with a move back to Hearts! Would anyone like him back on a loan signing type idea?
-
Yeah good point. Werent they cueing up to join us earlier?? Dread to see that list as well. Yardley, Kiriakov, etc etc . .

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aberdeen/8746616.stm He's definately away, i think
-
Ok, being realistic, how many players are we needing in now?!!! I aint panicing but when you realise how long it is til the season starts, we really need players in very shortly. I would prefer it if the new boys had some form of preseason with what little players we do have in. Just wondering as well how far down the list of his 100 players he is down to now!! Out of contract players will only be about for a wee while and we cant afford to hang about otherwise we will have a team of loan signings!! I take it the Lee Miller money is still available to spend . . . . . . .
-
He'd do . . . . .
-
Deary me!, we really are short of news at Pittodrie!! Actually if fictional characters is what we want. How about Santa, at least he turns up once a year!! Is that a bit harsh. . .
-
Always liked Ivanovs look. Everything but a right tache!!
-
BBC sport say that Sheffield Utd. have pulled out of Mulgrew signing talks because of his wage demands! He must think he is Ashley Cole or something. Ridiculous!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/8769167.stm

Aye he left his talent in Coronation Street
