Pa Broon & Archie - confirmed on 2.5 year deals
McMaster replied to BigAl's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I wonder if it was really down to Knox being good friends with McGhee and Brown not wanting to split the team up and manage without him. -
Phil Brown: ‘I can get Aberdeen FC on song again’
McMaster replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Listening to his interview on Stv news. came across quite well. mind you so would most unemployed managers looking to get a job. Really don't think he understands the job needed at Aberdeen. It came across, well to me, like it was a bit of a quick fix. We need long term stability. He also said he was looking to join an ambitious club. How does no transfer money and your wage budget controlled by having to let young players go out on loan suit ya Phil? One truthful interview from Milne will get him running to England as quick as his wee legs can take him. -
Why are the media so determined to shoehorn Stark in ??
McMaster replied to redordead's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Actually just after the 9-0 game by the soap dodgers the depressing journal were banding about starks name like he was a shoe in, before MMG got the boot. hmm . . . . -
Phil Brown: ‘I can get Aberdeen FC on song again’
McMaster replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Out of the short listed candidates, for me Stark is the stand out. I know a lot of folk may differ. Mind you, the shortlist is just speculation until it becomes public knowledge. -
Phil Brown: ‘I can get Aberdeen FC on song again’
McMaster replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
When when he was at hull in the premiership, I thought he looked a good manager, who the team seemed to take to and were playing good football. couldn't have dreamed he would even consider moving to Aberdeen. Now i know Stark is the best man for the job, 100%. But Brown excites me as a manager. He is a maverick and Aberdeen need stability. Heart says Brown, head says Stark. Have noticed Phil has fallen out with a few players in his past. -
Can you imagine this at Pittodrie
-
I am all for change but where the hell do you start??? Who is to blame??? The player, the manager, the board, the chairman??? Giving up hope with the club because they cant sort themselves the f*ck out. No that i would ever stop being a Don, but it drives me round the bend trying to work it all out. Stephen Hawkin could probably work out the theory of how we all came to be here but even he would struggle to sort out this impossible conundrum!

To be fair we have plenty of strikers, all be it a lot mis-firing. Puting Paton on loan seems a bit of sense, providing he gets plenty of game time. If he starts banging them in and his confidence grows, bonus. Plus freeing up some age bills. It beats sitting on the bench at Pittodrie wanting to get away! Plus it gives McGhee the chance, when the seaon kicks off next year, to say the immortal line "Its like having a new signing". As its been said he aint gettin the boot! We have a semi-final and that will keep him in job security for at least 5 years

Like him or not, the up-coming fixtures are going to be difficult, and I can seriously see McGhee getting sacked before Christmas. I think he knows it as well listening to him, but the players have to take a long hard look at themselves. Novembers a big month for the Dons and we must produce as we are starting to turn into a laughing stock again. If we were to beat Celtic then its showing us that the team only do show up for the big games and we will be told its the start of a run of form for the team, only to get gubbed the week after!! I'm praying things start tae change for the better. Shouldnt really be too down as we have just come off the back of 2 wins but for some reason the St Mirren game seems to have put a lot of pressure on again.

I think its too early yet to be speaking about sacking McGhee. I do think he doesnt have much time to turn it around though and injuries aint helping him. We have a small but pretty decent squad and it would always cripple us if we got any injuries. He has done some bemusing things as manager sometimes but then so has most managers in their time (including Mourinho and Fergie!) Fullbacks are required immediately, yes, but quite a few of the goals we are losing are individual mistakes, especially the goalkeepers . . unfortunately! To be honest Aluko never really being fit, Hartley missing, Pawlett being out, Fyvie getting crocked etc, etc!!! I feel for McGhee! It doesnt help everybody getting on his back!, especially the media as he says. Dont think the Jimmys or the Managers above could have done much better with that squad. And players like Magennis, Folly, Macardle, Velicka, Hartley have been trying to gel into the team. Although they really should be their now. We beat Hibs it could start something. Mind you I said that when we beat Hamilton

Yeah! Happy memories! I remember getting excited when the evening express had the headline 'the next Rooney' about Andrew Bagshaw!

Midfielder wants to return to Aberdeen FC
McMaster replied to xGav8's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Isnt it nice turning down players, rather than them turning their noses up at us days, hours, minutes before the transfer window slams shut! -
Got to say some of the comments in here are fairly harsh. I think if Velicka scores 20+ goals for us this season and we finish in the top 6, this thread will never get mentioned. Personally when i heard about this deal going through i got excited by it. Being honest we never would have stood a chance of buying a player of Velickas' calibre, so a loan deal is amazing. OK fitness worries, but IF he stays fit, tremendous. Last week we were moaning about the long balls getting punted to Magenniss from Ifil and no back up. We can now go 442, 433, 343!!?? I am sure McGhee knows he can get defenders in that are out of contract if he frees up the wage bill. Basey and Ross coming in were mentioned. If he gets them in, fair play. Obviously there is a danger he cant get them in and we will leak goals like hell but at least we can score goals. Personally i am getting fed up watching Hibs, Hearts, Dundee Utd etc., bangin the goals in when we are struggling to score more than 1. At least we might be exciting to watch!! In McGhee I trust
-
Agreed. The boys will have to play we sambas instead of studs!!
-
McGhee says he is still trying to get James Collins in from Villa for basically nothing (i take it thats just on loan!) Either he is paying no fee for the loan or i wonder if he wants Villa to pay his wages as well . . . Surely getting the leftback area sorted out is the major priority? Mind you we have Andrew Considine
