Eh? This is football, not speeding. Totally disagree, a common sense approach is far more effective as you'll end up every week, dishing out reds like sweeties every week. The game will descend into total farcical conditions if we saw each tackle like last Saturday being given yellows. To get a yellow for your first tackle is ridiculous, even more so with the two that Ross made. If every new ref is going to be sticking rigidly to the letter of the law, then prepare for a game with no tackles and no contact because thats what it will descend into. Players fearing the worst everytime they go to ground, one inch out of place and it's a caution and generally letting the game be ruined by letter law abiding, power hungry refs.

I get what your trying to say, but there can be no excuses for a lower league cup defeat despite all the available variables. A limp cup exit to a lower league team is inexcusable whether it's at the 3rd round or semi final, whether or not it's to First Division contenders or 3rd Division part-timers, whether we have a new manager still getting to grip with his side or an experienced manager we've had for years.

Not wanting to get into this argument, but I doubt he would be given much of a chance under the previous manager. I would have thought Kerr/McDonald would be pretty much undroppable and even if it was changed Duff or Young would have slotted in.

I agree. McGhee's media skills are good and I find myself agreeing with most he say's. That said, it's the performances and results that will convince me that he is the right man for AFC. In the first 10/15 mins of the second half against Hearts, there was maybe the first glimpses of what McGhee wants from the Aberdeen squad. Lots of movement, quick feet and quick, accurate passing. It was good football and pleasing on the eye. It might until next summer until he can take out/bring in the players he feels are capable of producing the brand of football he wants, but the Hearts game was encouraging.

I'm always wary of a Zander Diamond like situation with any young lad where he has a good season and then has an absolute stinker of 2. The boy is 16 year old, no even 18 or 19! The less press articles like this, the better.
