  1. I fail to see the correlation between being a good goalkeeping coach and quitting your job.
  2. I wouldn't be stunned by that at all. After Hibs much documented problems with goalkeepers along with this http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/hibernian/8138130.stm, add to that Leighton's stock is high after visible improvement in Preece and Langfield and furthermore, I doubt Hibs will have any problems in finding a wage for Jim. Yves Ma-Kalamity may be no more!
  3. Indeed. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/tedious
  4. Clean sheet, 3 goals, youngsters impressing?! Anyone would think that a tiny smidgin of optimism & good cheer is among the Donstalk faithful tonight!
  5. Soon to be heading to Anfield...
  6. Don't get me wrong, I am not against McGhee in any way shape or form. I hope any manager of Aberdeen FC suceeds, the disgraceful past 3 performances just indicate that we are in for a long, hard and difficult season. The very thought of sacking McGhee are very very premature and lets hope that results and performances pick up. McGhee is obviously trying hard to implement new tactics, new formations and new ideas. Hopefully the goods will be delivered but I think this season may be a difficult one.
  7. Open your eyes min. Poor sod chosen? He saw a lucrative chance to further himself as a manager at a bigger club and he took it. Don't patronise me by claiming that McGhee didn't know what he was letting himself in for when he signed on the dotted line. Jimmys mess? He got that team into 4th place and a place in Europe. He left the squad in a healthy position. He tried and failed to agree a new contract with Severin, Jamie Smith is no loss given his injury problems and Lee Mair was given pelters on a regular basis by the fans. Yes, the Setanta collapse has hit the Dons hard and McGhee is struggling with this but that is not Calderwoods fault. We all knew the defencies of the squad and where it needed to be strengthened but bar one signing, this squad played an absolute blinder against Hibs on the last day of the season. From going to one extreme to the other, is not the previous managers 'mess'. Difference is that Calderwood was at the club for 4/5 years, we have endured 3 absolutely dismal performances and results in the space of 2 months. Say, if McDonald had put his chance away, 3-2 or 3-1, reflects far too good on the Dons. Absolutely dreadful performance and 3-1 does not do it justice. It's all very well improving at 3 nil down, 9 times out of 10, this improvement will be too late.
  8. Apart from the past 2/3, you would be correct. Inept. Awful. Shocking.
  9. Yesterday was fucking horrendous. The first game I have ever left early. Men against boys for the most part and that first half was one of the worst performances by an Aberdeen team I have ever seen.
  10. IN/OUT: In PREMATCH: Pub STANDING: RDU POSTMATCH: Pub
  11. Have to say I'm far more confident for this game with Ifil coming in than what I would be, had we not signed anyone. Hopefully, the team will be fired up and battle for everything! See you all in Portals at 7!
  12. Quite a game at East Stirlingshire against St Mirren in the CIS. 3-5 with St Mirren throwing away a 3 goal lead. Why is St Mirren playing in the CIS cup at such an early stage?
  13. Milne is a chairmen, who definitely shouldn't be allowed near the football side of things. For example, appointing Aitken, Ebbe, Paterson and backing them. This is one of the number one reasons why Miller was appointed Director of Football and immediately used his expertise. This has resulted in a turnaround in fortunes for Aberdeen FC (even though some would still disagree). Milne has been penny pinching for years, I disagree with those that want lavish spending as that inevitably goes tits up. I don't think there is any doubt that we did overspend in the past, but when we were making a very good recovery progress from those years of overspending (with higher league finishes, increasing attendance figures and the European run), the credit crunch & recession hit hard and that along with Setanta collapsing, has knocked the AFC books for six. Nobody could have forseen this and we are currently being hit harder than expected. At the minute, times are hard with AFC and Milne both struggling in the current economic climate. It is harder than ever to loosen the purse strings and in this climate, I don't blame Milne for not. McGhee will just have to work with what he's got and spend whatever money he has wisely.

    Tonights tipple

I've shotted that strawberry tequila stuff before, not bad. Rather girly colour though. Gin is the mutts nuts! Nice little gordons along with a schweppes tonic, bit of lemon and a lump of ice! Mouth watering! I'm saving money this weekend and all o me pals are gan to a wedding so I will be drinking an unknown lager in a house somewhere!
  15. Indeed. I am a big fan of the Kerr/McDonald partnership in the middle. Very much in the same mould as Severin and Nicholson. Obviously we have been lucky that the manager at the time could pick up and persuade the likes of Kerr, McDonald, Aluko and Mulgrew to come to Aberdeen on bosmans or for small fees. These players are of the same quality and have helped replace the likes of Clark, Nicholson and McNaughton. However, defensively, money has not been spent. Even going as far back as not replacing Heikkinen and from then on, it's been a steady stream of defenders leaving the club and not being replaced, Anderson, Hart, even Maybury! He was a perfect replacement, chose not to come here and now we're left with the likes of Foster, Duff, Considine and Young for a defence. It is an indictment of the defence when Diamond, a 21 year old who is still yet to fufill his early potential, is our best defender. Last night was the result of a threadbare and limited squad, with a new manager, trying to implement new tactics, formations and ideas whilst not suceeding. Reinforcements are needed and needed fast.
  16. I always thought Clark was a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. He could play just about anywhere across the defence and midfield yet struggled to make a position his own. Maybury, in my opinion, was a stronger right back than Hart. The squad needs investment and quickly. It's only so long that you can lose important players and get away with it and with Severin leaving (a hoor of a good midfielder and an adequate center back on his day), I think the squad has finally been pushed to its limit. The board has never invested strongly in the squad, instead prefering stop gap, poorer replacements in the likes of Mair, Young, JDV etc. The squad needs at least 3 defenders and a couple of midfielders at least and unless they loosen the purse strings (which is more difficult than ever at this point in time), then next season could see the loss of further important players such as Miller, Kerr, and McDonald.
  17. Aye when their waving about their union jacks and generally singing bigot songs.

    Formula One

Funnigly enough, I have been watching the 'Self Righteous Brothers' skits for days now. Check out the Jackson/Rolling Stones one and the Noel Edmonds one. Classics. Back on topic, in my opinion, Schumacher is the greatest F1 driver of all time.
