  1. Fallon is capable of scoring match-winners out of nothing. But he's not a striker who should be playing week-in week-out ... simply doesn't have it in him to score regularly. I'd be keen on Faddy playing, even for a season. He's completely different to Vernon, and he's a bigger and much more physical player than what I've seen on McGinn
  2. Good move. Scott did some brilliant work at Dens Park a few years ago before Dundee shafted him. Welcome home, Jocky
  3. To be honest, I've not been bothered with Scotland since France '98. Scotland have constantly shunned the Aberdeen squad, and our last Scotland regular was Bandy Jim. Jim was treated shambolically by sections of the Tartan Army after France'98, and the Scottish FA failed to support him whatsoever. I really haven't given a shit about the Scottish football team since then. Complete unknowns and dross that can't get picked by weaker nations than Scotland are being given caps ahead of Scottish-born Aberdeen players who are performing well! Anderson has been brilliant for us in both stints, yet he gets no more than bit-parts in games that have little or no meaning to Scotland's chances.
  4. Ahem. The CURRENT currant buns haven't played Motherwell yet!
  5. Yup. I think he's too professional to let his allegiance get in the way of doing his best for 'Well
  6. If any team is gonna rip Mercenaries XI apart at the moment, it's Motherwell
  7. It's not as if we're not hitting the target either! I've only been watching the (pretty friggin awesome) Youtube highlights, but can see we are hitting the target frequently every game bar the opener against Celtic. Whether someone starts hitting the back of the net, or we come up against a keeper in poor form ... I get the real feeling that someone is gonna get an absolute pasting from us soon. Infact, a quick look at our home form: Aberdeen vs Helen 12shots vs 3 shots 3 on target vs 1 on target Aberdeen vs Hearts 7shots vs 3 shots 2 on target vs 1 on target Aberdeen 0-0 Ross County 11shots vs 4shots 5 on target vs 1 on target
  8. Seems to me that when the ball is out on the left wing, Hayes is creeping in to help Vernon upfront. When it's on the right, Fraser is coming in to the middle to help. Like I say, though, my biggest worry is that Fraser & Hayes will get a reputation soon. All it takes is for some unrelenting thug wi' nae skill but heavy feet to take one of them out for a couple of months and we're screwed. We MUST take these opportunities that these two are providing before one (or both) become injured.
  9. In the 2001/02 season we were playing some pug ugly football ... but goals were going in every game. Crowds were up. Why? Cos we were winning. All this huff and puff is for nothing if we cannae hit the back of the net. Brown, go and get McFadden now, before its too late and we sustain an injury to Fraser or Hayes
  10. Would happily have him upfront for the Dons. But really cannae see it happening.
  11. You took that too far
  12. Still one of the best memories I have of Pittodrie. The game itself was pretty shite except for three things ... Dadi skinning Bobo Baldi with a sublime piece of skill that bamboozled even himself Mackie's goal Pelting Alan Thompson with snabas
  13. Yes it's not quite as good as being there and witnessing this team with my own eyes. But I watched the entire Celtic game online, and the YouTube extended match highlights have been brilliant. Something that really shines through in the opening handful of games is that (Celtic aside) we are absolutely battering the opposition. Vernon isn't missing the target either! A huge number of his shots are being saved by the keeper or are being chalked offside. He is hitting the target ... just needs to hit the part of the target that the keeper isn't covering. Seriously, I would like to see stats of the top target-hitters this season. Pretty sure Vernon will be miles out infront of everyone else in the league at the moment. I think over the opening games I've counted 8 or 9 direct on-target shots from him alone that all could easily have gone in had it been for a bit more luck and rub of the green. Fallon isn't an out-and-out striker. He's a sporadic wondergoal specialist who is going to fashion goals out of nothing. He's not a striker who nets on the end of good team buildup (which is what we are producing at the moment!). McGinn ... I wasn't impressed with him against Celtic, but I'll hold judgment for when he returns. Would definitely be worthwhile trying Paton in the middle alongside Vernon. With the service that our two wingers are supplying at the moment, I'd fancy his chances of hitting the net every couple of games.
  14. Bugger. I thought Ansbro looked really promising in the opening two games of the World Cup. The only back that seemed capable of running at an angle ... which succeeded in confusing the opposition, and leading to him crossing the line a couple of times.
  15. I think Dazzler would rather go on the dole than sign for those Div3 minkers!
  16. The talk about easter road is very pertinent: http://goo.gl/maps/3cmsR The ground that Easter Road sits on is arguably no bigger (possibly even smaller!!) than the ground that Pittodrie sits on. We've got a whackin big carpark to the north of us, and another odd-shaped carpark and hill-area to the south-east of the stadium. Seriously, what is wrong with redeveloping that area over the space of a year? If Caley Thistle can relocate to Pittodrie for a season, surely we can relocate to Tulloch Stadium, Dens Park or East End Park for a few months whilst our "Construction Firm Chairman" gets the stadium rebuilt on the current land that we already own. What grates me is that a seperate business dedicated to the relocation of the club actually separated itself from Aberdeen Football Club 2 or 3 years ago. Seriously, what the hell have this company done over the past few years? They've failed to deliver the stadium in time for the start of the 2013-14 season; they've failed to secure enough backing to support the training facilities at Calder Park; they've failed to even consider Plan-B
  17. I loved the first couple of seasons of Lost. Then they started covering brand new ground without explaining shit in the previous episodes, and there were so many subplots within subplots going on, it was bloody difficult to follow. I lost interest, so stopped watching it after season2. Then in the lead-up to the third-last episode, one of the TV channels over here did an entire show catchup over the space of three hours ... was brilliant! 68 seasons of confusion, all wrapped up in 3 hours. I actually enjoyed the final three episodes, but have to admit that I'm pretty sure the writers wrote the first season ... and then really didn't have a clue what they were doing so just started writing episodes in the hope that the show would go somewhere...

    Films

Yup, www.movie2k.to is the streaming site I use. Not many mainstream movies that aren't on there. If its available on DVD, then it'll stream at DVD quality!
  19. Agreed. We are already sitting on a few million quid of real-estate at Pittodrie. I refuse to believe that upgrading the existing Pittodrie is more expensive than acquiring brand new land and building a whole new stadium. With a bit of ingenuity and thinking, Pittodrie can be brought uptodate to UEFA standards piece-by-piece over the space of two or three seasons. Hell, I've long thought that creating a tunnel under an expanded Main Stand to allow for pittodrie street would work - would only really encroach on that carpark that we already own. We could even apply to CLOSE Pittodrie Street, forcing all cars that want to move that way to go down Pittodrie Place instead. Road reconstructions and complete road closures happen for new Shopping Centres all the time. Why not a sports complex?
  20. One of the funniest I've heard recently was from Milton Jones: The worst job I ever had was as a forensic pathologist for the United Nations. One time I stumbled across the mass grave of a thousand snowmen. Fortunately it turned out it was just a field of carrots.
  21. Right, that's it. Only thing left to do is to move Aberdeen FC to Stonehaven.
  22. These are the best video highlights I've seen for many many a year. Living in NZ, my passion for the Dons has dropped dramatically over the past few years because it was just so friggin difficult to find the games online (actually easier to find online TV coverage than to find radio coverage!!). I tried RedTV for half a season, but it was a shambles, tbh - poor camera angles, poor commentary, poor streaming to the other side of the world. The YouTube channel is bloody brilliant. I can now watch extended highlights from ALL the games at a time that is sensible in NZ :-) Starting to enjoy the Dons again for the first time since we were in Europe vs Copenhagen, Bayern, Dnipro, etc.
  23. Does Milsom want to leave?
  24. Just saw the highlights of the Ross County vs Celtic game. County look a solid, adventurous side. Brittain seems to have found his mojo again ... still cannae believe he's playing. Wasn't he Livi's star player when they were in the SPL 11 years ago??
  25. Saw absolutely nothing wrong with those two Vernon goals. Two excellent goals that the linesman simply failed to keep up with, so wrongly chopped off :-(
