  1. Saw in the news that it's likely that McNamee will just miss the Dunfermline match. Just in time, as Consi is suspended for next week's game (suspension doesn't count for this week's game as it's a different competition)
  2. Nah nah. It's a stat that Archie MacPherson rolled out as kickoff loomed against the huns at Pittodrie four years ago. Of course, back then it was 50 years
  3. I liked Deloumeaux. Cool, calm, collected, and ALWAYS ripped Motherwell a new arsehole whenever we played them
  4. Seems to me that Mackay is simply the current version of John Viola. At the end of the 2001-02 season, Viola was the agent of six Aberdeen players. All six players were refusing to sign new contracts at the end of 01/02. Viola was an absolute cretin back then - out to make as big a coin for himself without any real regard for the players he represents. I just about threw up when I looked at John Viola's website and realised his "agency team" now includes Gordan Petric and Craig Moore.
  5. Ah well, nae quite true. Mackie starts hitting the back of the net whenever his contract is up for renewal. Robbie Winters' most prolific season was the one before he left us. Same goes for Severin before he signed a contract extension with the Dons - he was playing some pretty magnificent stuff in the lead-up to that contract renewal. Soon as he signed on, he gave up
  6. I got some right dodgy looks last time I sang that song, haha.
  7. Guntveit moved to Brann four months before Pele and Shearer were appointed. As for Bisconti, the problems with him and his French-speaking kids had already been rumbling on long before the new management team arrived. As with most of the squad that Pele inherited, Bisco was at his best in the 01-02 season where he commanded the midfield in such a way that he even made Darren Young look like a footballer
  8. Should've cashed in on Celtic's Diamond-interest two years ago when we had the chance.
  9. Thing is, we've got plenty vile, hate-filled (yet non-sectarian) songs about Rangers. However, I don't think we have any such songs that we can sing against Ra Shellick. Reckon we need to create some songs to get right up the noses of those fake Irish dickheads.
  10. HTC Desire is a pretty sweet phone. I've got the Samsung Galaxy s9000, and it's the bee's.

WTF? Indeed Bana is not in The Fighter. Why did I get that idea stuck in my head??? Oh well. I'll still go and see it
  12. So we do! Sunday 20th March at 12:45. Dunno how the Beeb missed that one: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/aberdeen/fixtures/default.stm Cannae see the Rangers game in there at all. Okay, enough time for Blackman, Smith and Milsom to get used to the way we play, and enough time for Shauney O'Luko to recover. And it's Rangers at Pittodrie ... can never predict that result
  13. My old flatmate in Edinburgh is a hun. She always brings up the story of how she was in Franklyn's Piano Bar in Aberdeen in the late 90s, and snogged Duncan Shearer. She woke up the next morning with a huge cold-sore on her lip. Nice one Shearer. Spreading herpes amongst the huns since 1992
  14. Agreed. As productive a January transfer window as Aberdeen have ever seen since the January transfer window was introduced. Add to that the fact that several teams around us have been weakened (ie the likes of Dobie, Zemmama and Conor Sammon moving away from SPL teams) and I think we are better placed than most teams around us to continue our climb up the table ... and maybe even another semi-final appearance.
  15. Kombouare played absolute blinders against the Old Firm. He just couldnae be fucked against the rest of Scotland's teams?
  16. Unfortunately, if we don't get into the top-six this season, this will be the first season in 54 years that we've failed to take any points from the Old Firm in the league. Statistics and all that. But thank fuck those three games are out of the way. Just goes to prove that, whilst Brown/Knox have done wonders for the club, we've still got a long long way to go before we can consider ourselves "out of the woods".
  17. On a plus-note, 13,000 Dons fans helped make up an attendance (well, at kickoff at least) of 38,000. This from a Glasgow team who are in a three-horse race for the title vs a North-East Scotland team who were rock-bottom of the league until Boxing Day. Fast-forward 24 hours, and another Glasgow team who are still well in the mix in the aforementioned three-horse title race come up against a short-train-journey-from-Glasgow team who are two wins off 4th place. Between them they can only muster 23,000 fans. That's fuckin shocking!!
  18. The results since Brown & Knox have taken over have helped hide the fact that the common theme in all these embarrasing results is certain players. We've changed managers twice, we've replaced players in key areas. But still we are seeing these freak results. Yes, freak results are freak results. But Aberdeen FC see at least one freak defeat every single season ... whether it be a heavy "stage-fright" defeat at Hampden, or another record loss to team-x, we are seeing them every year. The fitness coaches and Wiggy are the non-playing constants in this. But no SPL team should be down 4-0 to another SPL team within 34 minutes - that's a goal every 8 minutes!! That's a worse leakage rate than in the 9-0 loss earlier this season. Common factors throughout the years? Diamond, Langfield, Considine and Young. Diamond is long past his best, as is Langfield. Consi and Young will never show their best because they've never had it in them to bring their best out on a consistent basis. If Brown were to take either Consi or Young on a two-week trial period, he'd say no to them at the end. Time to bin all four.
  19. If only Ebbe's "swarm of bees" corner tactic had been successful once

I've been keen on "The Fighter" even before it got nominated in every single Golden Globe category. Eric Bana and Christian Bale is an acting combination that excites me. I've heard many people saying "oh cool, it's starring Batman and The Hulk!" To me, though, it's starring Patrick Bateman and Mark Chopper Reid. Friggin awesome!! Definitely one I'm gonna see ... and quite possibly one I may even pay to go and see

I won't reveal much about the movie, other than switch recommending that you stop watching the movie after the shooting in El Paso. If you do this, it's a brilliant thriller with a brilliant ending. If you watch the movie in its entirety, then you're watching a brilliant thriller with a rather weak ending.
  22. Don't think it's a case of the player liking the SPL or Aberdeen. I think it's a chance for the player to get match-fit, gain senior experience and perhaps win a few plaudits in the process. I'm pretty sure any fringe EPL player is not even giving a crap about which SPL team he is moving to, as it's only for four months anyway!

Been stuck at home with just me and the bairn for the past three days. I dug out some movies I've nae seen for a whiley. Watched No Country For Old Men last night. If it weren't for the unbelievably weak ending, this would be one of the very few 10-out-of-10 movies in my history of watching movies. Tonight, I've just finished watching Last King Of Scotland again. Whittaker is chillingly brilliant as Idi Amin - can flick the switch from loveable, friendly chap to brutal, paranoid dictator in the blink of an eye.
  24. Aye, but Broon said he couldnae sign this mystery player yet as he was due to play in the FA Cup this weekend. Surely the players you've mentioned are fringe-at-best.
  25. Yaaas! Streaming speed isnae the best fae UK to NZ - but I'll be watching :-) ReddTV still needs quite a bit of work, but there's some real classic matches in there. 4-0 vs Hearts at Tynie in 1992 was particularly enjoyable to watch ... Jess and Gillhaus in absolutely devastating form
