Dave_min's right. It's SMG who are dealing with the UTG thingy ... not Stewarty himself! On that note, it's Stewarty himself who is on the Dons board, not the Stewart Milne Group. If it were the Stewart Milne Group who were head of the Dons board, we'd have no problems with renovating Pittodrie. Yes we've got the man in-charge of Stewart Milne Group as the boss of our beloved club, but Stewart would still need to get approval from his group Senior Management Team and shareholders before pumping SMG money into Aberdeen FC.

I'll say. Quick lads. Get the pitch-forks and chase this foreigner out!

Former AFC Director Jim Cummings in P+J
Reekie_Red replied to Sandaldinho's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Further to this, Cummings didn't just want to take over at Aberdeen, he was a CURRENTLY AFC Director, and he was plotting the removal of the board along with key individuals including Willie Miller (I believe Willie was Head of the Supporters Trust at that point) and Dave Cormack (who was the current Dons Chief Exec). The consortium was engineering the removal of Milne, Donald, etc whilst most were current AFC employees / board-members. Effectively, they were looking to sweep the carpet out from underneath Milne's feet at a time when Milne was quite happy with his lot as AFC Chairman. -

At the time that Cummings & Co were looking to take over the club, Milne was happy with is lot. It's only in the past four or so years that Milne has started to hint at being ready to hand the club over. -

Hmmmm, don't really think he's actively come out to say "someone please buy this club from me!". He's hinted, yes. But he's not actively come out yet and said "make me an offer". Jim Cummings has made his first AFC-related appearance in the media for about ten years. I wonder if this could be the start of something beautiful! -

Jeeeeez, I remember seeing the much publicised "Ten Year Plan" on Scotland Today about ten or fifteen years ago (I was studying in Edinburgh, so must've been almost 15 years ago now). It looked fantastic, with promises that would revolutionise the very existence of Aberdeen Football Club. We kind of started getting there, and then the arse fell out of Scottish Football thanks to the collapse of the SPL TV deal, and as you say we really have been stuck on stage 2 of the 5-year plan for about nine years now. -

If that really is true, that is surely a clear invitation for Cummings to reignite his consortium from ten years ago. -
Still give you a semi though, didn't it FJ?

I've said this so many times. Have terracing. If the SPL doesn't like it, just close the terracing during SPL matches. Open it up for League Cup, Scottish Cup and European games ... so that's two games per season we can use the terracing, lol. I've said it so many times that the terracing-setup they have at Brondby is impressive and would easily for Aberdeen's new stadium. What the hell, bring back terracing. It wasn't the terracing that was the problem at Hillsbrough, it was the police.

Mark Kerr: "Willie, it's time to start looking at my contract" Willie Miller: "So it is. Here's wur offer" MK: "I'll take that away and think about it" [some time later] MK: "I'd like to enter negotiations with you regarding my contract-offer" WM: "Oh aye. Since we offered you this contract, we've noticed you've done absolutely fuckall for the club. So we're now offering you HALF of what we offered you before" MK: "hurrumph" That's not right! Hurrumph. I'm supposed to get more money from you lot, regardless of how little effort I put into my game" WM: "Well thats not the way we work around here anymore. Why don't you go and whinge to Hearts. They'll gladly pay you what we offered you to begin with." MK: "Hurrumph!!"

Just watched the highlights of the Motherwell v Hibs game. Looked a hell of a lot more entertaining than our 6-5 game at Fir Park ten years ago. Some good goals, some shocking goals, horrific backpass by Giles Coke, but stunning goal by Jutkiewicz (why couldn't we have found this player rather than Rutkiewicz?) to grab the draw

McGhee wants to hand our record fines to Diamond and Foster
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I hadnae noticed. But now you mention it .... for being a player who is normally so vocal at every given opportunity and is normally slated for talking so much shite in the papers, Langfield's been affae affae quiet since the turn of the year. -
McGhee may miss game tonight due to Volcano
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Is that volcano still spewing?? -
Aluko IS a quality young player. He's just surrounded by players who couldnae gie a fuck, and a management team who have completely lost all motivational control over the first-team. No wonder he cannae be arsed at the moment. If McGhee can hold onto Aluko, and build his new team around Aluko, Diamond, Fyvie, Pawlett and Paton, there could be reason for optimism next season. Aluko is a player I'd love to see stay at Aberdeen for another season, as I don't think we have seen the best of him yet.

I have a little bit of thanks to give to GD for spotting what might be the issue. For some reason the database had changed to ISO encoding when we moved it to the new server. I've converted the database to UTF8 and it's now fixed.

McGhee wants to hand our record fines to Diamond and Foster
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Record fines seems a bit harsh for arguably our only two players who actually give a fuck this season! -
Could probably count on one hand the number of Aberdeen FC employees who are actually earning their wage at the moment.

I think we've had several players who had the potential to be at least as good as Charlie Nic, but the "Aberdeen factor" got the better of them and they ended up being good-at-best, horse-shite-at-worst. Names who spring to mind who've been with us since Charlie include: - Eoin Jess (had the ability to destroy ANYONE ... just didn't have the mentality to do it regularly) - Hicham Zerouali (had skill that this Dons fan has not seen since the Smith/Scott era, but like Jess he just seemed to lack the mentality to use it on a regular basis) - Noel Whelan (when he wasn't injured, he showed signs of his EPL quality. Problem was he spent too long either on the treatment table, or getting match-fit after being out injured).

The move to our new servers has been completed ahead of schedule. UK users should find an improvement in speed of the servers as we have relocated from Auckland servers to Inverness servers. Please let us know if you spot any problems on the site that weren't there on Saturday.

Give or take 3 or 4 players, it's pretty much the same squad of dross that Jimmy got into Europe with this time last year. Make of that what you will.

McGhee interview on BBC Radio Scotland...
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
What fucks me off is he is whinging about not having any money. Mark, you do realise each league position carries with it a bigger prize than the previous? At least try to push for as high a league position than you are. At the moment, it seems that you're ready to accept ANY non-12th position as acceptable. There's a reason why Willie Miller has told you that your transfer-kitty is guaranteed regardless of your position, because regardless of whether you finish in 7th or 11th, yer still gonna get fuckall. But seriously! Have a bit of fuckin passion. A bit of professional pride! If your senior players are not capable of raising their game against Hamilton in the final weekend home-game of the season, then drop them and play a team of kids. I'm sure the massive crowd of 7099 would've been inspired by that performance to even bother thinking of renewing their season-tickets. -
Corrected your sentence there. You had it right the first time around!

We are moving servers. As such, you may find short periods where DonsTalk is unreachable or is offline. Please be patient with us whilst we do this move.
