Honest question, cos I've not seen many keepers in the past 7-8 years. Have we had any decent keepers come through our youth ranks since Leighton? I'm trying to think of all the ones who've made it into the senior team, and cannot think of any that really stand out: Esson Watt Stillie Hutton (think he only featured on the bench a couple of times) Peat I personally ain't seen enough of Esson in recent years to pass judgment. But surely Aberdeen should be producing better keepers than this. Surely.

I would understand if he was from Chile or Japan and was homesick. But he's a Brummie! A quick search online shows return flights from Aberdeen to Birmingham next week start at £115 all up. If you are a bit homesick, you might wanna reconsider your choice of career as a pro footballer. Cos unless you're super-consistent and your home club simply never want to let you go, chances are you're gonna be moving around the world to different clubs at different stages in your career.

At last: Some good news from Pittodrie!

Have they got gnomes styled on the current squad? Sale Now On!! At least half price!! Paul Hartgnome David McGnomee Andrew Consignome Scott Vergnome Gnomy McArdle Gnoamm Folly Fraser Fygnome Michael Patognome and Darren Mackie All have superficial damage. No refunds, no returns, no exchanges. A bit of work over the summer and they'll be like brand new gnomes. -
On his day, Langfield is an excellent keeper. Won a couple of Man-of-the-Matches in my opinion since Brown took over

Got half way thru watching "The Figher" on the old laptop at the maternity ward. Really enjoying it so far.

Reckon that'd be a good way of paying back the national-debt. Make the "Harry vs Pippa All-Nighter" a pay-per-view. Boozing up at the royal bar. Couple of lines of cocaine at the royal drug-store. And then Harry and Pippa get it on whilst she wears the crown jewels. Win!
-
Agreed. A 10-man Celtic team vs an 11-man Aberdeen team would've actually been a decent contest. But no Scottish team is gonna win against a man-up Celtic team.
-
I like what Brown is shifting towards. if he wants to make Langfield, Smith, Milsom, Aluko, Hartley and Maguire the backbone of his squad, then this bodes very well for the future. Lets hope all sign new contracts.

Young's heart is in the right place. He puts in massive amounts of effort in almost every game he plays. But when truth be told, his best is simply far far below what the Aberdeen benchmark should be. If we are to be a success, then an in-form Derek Young should be seen as a poor Aberdeen player - if you catch my drift. Thanks for the effort Derek, but your time is now up.

Am I the only one who wouldn't say no to Kate Middleton? Even fae the early pics of her on the crapazine covers, I thought she was a bit of alright. Would you?

Aberdeen Celtic semi final 17th April 12.45ko
Reekie_Red replied to Harcus's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I thought Aluko was brilliant. He consistently had at least two or three players marking him, but time and time again he came out of tightly marked situations with the ball. Maguire was good too. Never stopped harassing upfront, and won a few tidy handy freekicks when there seemed nothing else was on. I felt sorry for him just before Celtic's 2nd - saw nothing wrong with his goal. Couple of others got passmarks but Vernon was non-existent in midfield and the likes of Diamond and Young can just fuck right off right now -
Whether we were any good or not is not the argument here. Consi meant no malice. As Lennon said, he went for the tackle, he lost the pace battle. Nothing wrong with this. Anywhere else on the park and you've got a chance of not even being carded. He did not deserve to walk for that. I know its the rules, but its a stupid rule. Who the hell enjoys watching 70 minutes of 11 men outplaying 10 men? For what its worth I thought we matched Celtic until the red card
-
Stupid fuckin rule that FIFA need to change. Considine meant absolutely no malice with his challenge. There's no denying it was a penalty, and maybe a yellow card would've sufficed. But Aberdeen had to play a chasing game for the remainder of the match, something yer never gonna win if you're up against Timothy.

Time to retire, Darren.

Aberdeen vs Ayr Utd in the cup on a bleak Tuesday evening in November will mean carparking for every fan, then

We should do what Hibs did with Scott Brown and sign him on a ridiculous contract, piss him off, and then sell him to Celtic/Rangers/Championship for a ludicrous amount of money. Brown £4m, Fletcher £3m, Whittaker £2m, Murphy £1.5m. That's £10.5m they've netted from outbound transfers in the past four seasons. But they still refuse to spend any money on new players. Aberdeen take note!

At the start of the Dons vs Huns game where Robbie Winters got hit on the head by a coin and the riot-police were on parade, Archie MacPherson said at the start of the game that it had been 50 years since Aberdeen had failed to take any points from either of the Old Firm. Think the 60th anniversary of that statistic will mark the end of that statistic, tbh.

Major Restructuring in the Pipeline for SPL
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
It's almost like someone's stuck us all into a Delorien and zapped us back to 2001. League reconstruction and SPL TV? Yawn -
I went to see Phil Kay as part of the Edinburgh Festival about 10 years ago. He was mildly funny, but again his gig was less than an hour long. He had a couple of funny gags about Burntisland being named after a community bbq one Sunday. A couple of jokes about the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow .... "who would live in Linlithgow?!". He then used a side-speaker to climb up to the balcony and steal an alcopop from someone in the crowd. Think he kind of ran out of jokes though, hence why he probably finished up early. Worst comedy gig I've ever been to, though, was Charlie Chuck (aka Uncle Peter from Reeves&Mortimer) at the Lemon Tree about 16 years ago. He was atrocious. He arrived on stage in character and was brilliant. But within 20 minutes, he had slipped out of character and was just telling stories of his childhood ... not even jokes, just general stories from his childhood!

Stunning goal indeed!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-EDtQchYFc

Call me nostalgic, but I love the admiral one (bottom far left) and the adidas pinstripe one (bottom, second from right). Away kit is superb too!

Had a day off today with the missus. We went to the cinema. I wanted to see Battle Los Angeles, but when I said the trailers look like Independence Day, she immediately decided not to see it. So we went to see Rango instead. Quite enjoyed it, tbh. The quality of the animation is unbelievable! Saw Black Swan the other day too. Considering it's a movie about duncin, it's nae bad. I found it a bit tricky to figure out when Portman was dreaming and when she wasn't. Suppose that's what made the movie all the more intriguing.

Brown demands winning mentality from his players

Tomorrow's headline: "Lennon: My cup heroes didn't need motivation; Brown did that all for me" -
I like to call it the Ricky Gillies effect
