Don't you mean "the window has SLAMMED shut" ?
-
Hopefully JT gives him priority on the field, and doesn't keep sharing the #9 time equally amongst him, Ambrose (who should be Duk's surprise +1 in that deal) and Nisbet (who just hasn't worked out for us)
-
I can see the papers now. "He had such a promising career ..." "His career was hampered by persistent knee problems because of THAT tackle ..." "He was piggy-backed off the field by someone, but that doesn't matter ..." "It was three years til we saw him take the field again ..." "Eight months after the tackle, he was spotted bouncing on tables at a corporate event, singing sectarian songs ..."
-
Benfica will be due a fair bit of that fee though. We're they getting 50% of sell-ons? Glad he's gone though. Can we throw in Ambrose as a bonus?
-
Just watched highlights of Arsenal absolutely dismantling Man City. God knows what is happening at City, but that was an absolute pasting ... City didn't register a single shot on target after their 1 goal
-
Would be a tidy €4.5M for us if they met Bologna's valuation
-
Thats a cruel comparison. Opposition players have to put thought into getting past a traffic cone

This is my concern too. I hate the transfer windows, cos the first thing I do every single morning is go online to see if we've signed anyone yet. I fear we get no new #9 in, or worse we get some guy who is on his 19th loan club and has scored 3 goals throughout his entire time on loan. I dunno what I fear more, this situation or having to field Nisbet/Ambrose for the rest of the season and genuinely wondering if we will score again
-
Proof will be in the pudding vs Dunfermline. After that interview, JT has to drop those who are in that "lacking commitment" category. He's not going to change his system as that's been the basis behind all of his signings so far.

Just be done with that rule and bring back terracing. The source of the Hillsbrough disaster was police opening gates to ease fan congestion, which caused the crowd surge. Fenced-terracing happened to be in-place in those two stands, which didn't help. But you cannot beat a good terrace. Think the last one I went to was Montrose vs Dundee (Billy Dodds played for Dundee). Brilliant atmosphere

Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph suggests we are interested in Maccabi Tel-Aviv centre-back Tyrese Asante. It’s understood the Dons held talks to sign the 22-year-old last summer while he was at Den Haag, but nothing developed further. Asante was close to joining Galatasary, before they were gazumped by Maccabi. The Netherlands U21 international has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, with the club having an option to extend by a further year.

Depends what happens with Rubi if he returns. St Mirren targeted him as the real point in the team and took total advantage. Hard to deny that if he plays vs Hibs, Gray will have his team target Rubi again
-
Yeah no doubting McGrath's ability, but I do question his application. Didn't he reject a previous approach from us before he went to Wigan?
-
MacDonald was good when paired with a competent CB, ie Pollock. Good luck to him wherever he eventually goes. And McGarry, I feel sorry for him. He's one of our better squad players at the moment. Not a first pick, but not too shabby when he's been on. But as with quite a lot of our squad, simply not the level we actually need. Given he still has 18 months left on his contract, if Greek side Kallithea make any 6 figure offer then I'd take it

Winning...for now. The Northeast Optimism Records thread.

Individuals are costing us. Rubi's too slow, doesn't have enough skill, and is prone to too many absolutely catastrophic blunders. He's never looked comfortable unless it is against lower league opposition. And there is no competent #9. This is the position we need to spend big on in this window. Not too many days left though, but we probably need to break our inbound transfer record to land a proven #9 ... On a side-note, is our inbound record for Bernard? Or was it Winters when we gave Dodds + cash to Utd? -
WTF is going on? Is the defence (GK included) really as honking as these comments suggest? Or isn't all down to a lack of confidence from the rest of the team in 1 or 2 players abilities under pressure?
-
This mornings "newspapers" upping the rumours that we are hijacking Rangers bid for Cameron. Dundee Courier also indicating this, stating we are using our recent onselling abilities as a lure against what would obviously be a higher salary. Dundee expecting similar compensation as we received for Barron
-
What's Cameron's position? Is he a central / defensive midfielder? If so, we have an abundance of options in there already. If it's attacking midfielder, then could be a good shout esp with McGrath now out long-term Also wondering what's going on with Miovski. Getting almost no game-time for Girona these days, not even making the bench. Would he come back to us, even on-loan?
-
The winner at Elgin will have helped confidence. But i think moreso it has given Jensen, Okkels, Dorrington and Tobers all some valuable competitive game time, and also given the squad a full week between fixtures. Gueye will help the other forwards too by being a general nuisance. Hopefully this will all contribute to is snapping our league losing streak Dons 2-0 StJ- Keskinen, Nisbet

A few catholic priests were nervous at that news
-
You forgot us coming back in to finally complete Gabriel Batistuta's dream move to Aberdeen. He retired 21 years ago, but would still be better than Ambrose
-
As much as I'd love some results to go the other way *cough-fuckthehunsandthetims*, here's my predictions:
-
That was a cracking game. A proper Roy Of The Rovers story, made particularly pleasing when PRicksen got sent off and we then scored the winner shortly after. Jamie Smith scored the winner IIRC?
-
When he signed, I thought we'd hired the bigger Chuckle Brother. His tombola team selection was frustrating as hell. But he did bring some wicked memories, particularly Copenhagen and Bayern Munich at Pittodrie. RIP Jimmy

Aye, Aaron Jones' vlog has a great angle, it was never in
