I know it's not an admin competition. But what do Red Cards count for, in that light? Rules of the game state that a red card incurs at least a one-match ban. Fact of the matter is Dumb-fermline fielded a player who should've been serving a one-match ban. The SFA send a list of all banned players around before the games, so the Pars had no excuse for disobeying the rules of the game. They also listed players on the teamsheet who they had not registered for this competition. Yes, it's about playing on the park. But if everyone showed such disregard for the rules as Dumb-fermline have, the game would be in an even bigger shambles than it is just now.

THE OFFICIAL: "LET'S ALL LAUGH AT HEARTS"
Reekie_Red replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Football Chat
In other words, he sang "The Billy Boys!" and the Dons fans shouted "booooooooo!" -
I voted Wright and Robertson, purely on footballing ability. Never since Wright's move to the Dark Side have I been so angry about a Dons player leaving. He was a truly outstanding player and had SSSOOOOO much more to offer with the right coaching. However, he went to the huns and, resultantly, disappeared from pretty much everyone's radars. But what I remember of him and Robertson were truly magnificent defenders that would both easily command Premiership first-team berths in today's game.

See, I knew I'd forgotten someone fairly decent. I've reset the scores and added Mickey Hart.

So we have our goalkeeper. Without shadow of a doubt, the absolute Number1 of the past 20 years is Theo Snelders. Next up is the Left and Right Backs. To speed up the process, I'm going to allow you all to choose TWO players from this list. These will be the wingbacks. Not as clear-cut as the goalkeeping choice, as we've not exactly been blessed with wonderful wingbacks in the past two decades. This poll will run until next Saturday. Remember, these are ONLY players who've played for Aberdeen between 1990 and 2010. As before, I'm not going to mention ALL players from the past two decades ... just the ones worth mentioning.

Crawford to the Blue Toon for a month on loan
Reekie_Red replied to 19afc03's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Reckon it's a good move getting all these youngsters out on loan at the same time. Rather than getting no real valuable experience in the reserves, punting them out to Div1 and such will give these guys real decent experience of playing with and against many older guys who've been in the SPL many moons ago, and such. Hopefully these guys can realise this is not a slight on their ability, moreso a chance for them to gain valuable experience, whilst also freeing up squad-placed at Aberdeen for some temporary loan-move signings to help push us up the league this season. -
Apparently Gordon Smith didn't agree with the appeal decision. Fuckin joke how even the cup's governing body can be overruled by an independent advisory committee. A team who break FOUR rules in one game can be brought back into the cup by an independent committee, despite the opposing views of the competition's governing body? That's just yet another prime example of how fucked up Scottish football is

There'll be idiots who boo him, without a doubt. I don't think those who liked him will really bother to applaud him. But unfortunately those who dissed him will be heard easily

Wouldn't we be guaranteed a fee from any club looking to sign Fyvie? I'm sure there was legislation in place to protect clubs who bring young talent through by making the recipient club who sign any youngster have to go through a tribunal to pay a nominal fee for any player under a certain age. Isn't this why Newcastle had to pay us a wee sum for Glass?

Miller and McDonald put contract talks on hold
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Good. Any pennies we can get for these two under-performers is a bonus. Wouldn't be surprised if Killie submit a bid of 2x Killie Pies, and we take that bid and throw in Duff for good measure. -
Paton and A N Other. Paton needs an intelligent player who can hold the ball up and play into space. He needs a player with the intelligence of someone like Scott Booth or Craig Brewster to act as a foil

Or the one I made up about Gabriel Batistuta signing for us.

Calderwood in the Scotland on Sunday
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'd tend to agree with the notion that JC did steady the ship. Under Alex Miller, Heggarty, Skovdahl and Paterson, Aberdeen FC was gradually weakened and weakened and weakened as a whole. I'm of the belief that JC brought back stability, brought back an element of pride, and actually made clubs fear Aberdeen once again. There were times in the late 90s/early 2000s when some clubs loved playing Aberdeen as it was a surefire 3-points. Under JC, we became a lot tougher to beat and restored the idea of us being a "massive" club, as so many players seem to put it. -
True, but on those odd occasions when The Old Lady rocks, there's few stadiums quite like it!

Miller and McDonald put contract talks on hold
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Cannae comment on Wilson as I've not seen him play. But Fleck has been pretty average, from what I've seen of him so far. Certainly not Premiership quality. In saying that though, I wouldn't put it past McLeish or Moyes to put a £multimillion bid in for both of them, rather than waiting six months and getting them for nowt. As for Miller & McDonald, the EE is only rephrasing what McGhee said months ago. We're not going to be held ransom on ANY player contract talks. If Miller and McDonald don't wanna take whatever offer is on the table, they can piss aff. It's not like they've both been invaluable to us this season anyway. -
What the hell could/would you do? Doesn't matter what you do, yer car's gonna slide away. Thank fuck I'm sitting in shorts and t-shirt on the other side of the world just now.

A striker with an average-at-best strikerate at all his previous clubs, with Falkirk and Hearts being the only exceptions. If someone wants to pay a fee for him, then I'd be willing to let him go and give someone else a permanent gig upfront
-
I cannae drink Stella. Dinnae ken if its the additives in it or what, but I get a stinkin hangover from that shit, no matter if I have 20 pints ... or half a pint. No other beer I have had has that effect on me
-
Not like that, at least

Not total fail, though! I did manage to get the old db back online again. Took half an hour to upload, cos there's about three years of posts on the database. That's something I would've failed in previous years.
-
Oh well. I'd rather he sign for someone like Derby County than someone like Hearts or Hibs.

Anyone who tried to access Donstalk over the past couple of hours would've found great difficulty in doing so. I attempted to transfer a new database across that I have tested and does not have the "Your last post was x seconds ago" fault. However, there appear to be lines other lines and values in the database that I hadn't accounted for, which caused major problems for the site stability and functionality. So, after much tinkering and pissing around with commas, fullstops and what not, I've opted to reverse the changes and revert back to the original datbase. I do apologise to anyone who was trying to access Donstalk over the past couple of hours. Things should be back to normal now, including my position at the drawing board

Surely a year-and-a-bit without regular first-team action is not a problem for a player like Anderson. Remember in 2001, he came back against Ra Shellick after over a year out with a broken leg. Took him three games to get into the swing of things, and then we started seeing the real Anderson again. I'd love him back for sentimental, skill, ability, levelheadedness and leadership reasons ... not to mention a knack of knocking in the odd goal or three.
