  1. Thing is, Miller knows he did a good job at Hearts. Hearts know he can do a good job. He's just not performed when with us. Any offer over $100k for the currently-under-performing Lee Miller, and I'd snap their hands off.
  2. I ain't a JMGer or a MMMGer. Indeed I thought we made huge improvements both on and off the field under Jimmy's guidance. But I still personally feel that, if we wanted to keep the momentum going and get above the "let's aim for 3rd and a cup-final" collective-motive each year, we should've moved for a new management team about two years ago. That's just my own gut feeling, as I know heaps of peeps who were happy with the team's offering last season - but I was not.
  3. I stand corrected
  4. Agree. I personally feel Calderwood & Nicholl's limitations were reached around this time in the 2007/08 season. They did a good job of keeping us in the top four each season, and did a wonderful job with the Euro ties against Dnipro, Copenhagen and Bayern. But I don't think they could've taken us any further. We should've looked for a new management team that could've taken us to the next level there and then, rather than renewing JC and JN's contracts. I believe the turn of 2007-2008 was Calderwood's real peak at the club.
  5. Jess, Stavrum and Anderson probably the only ones
  6. No place for Rougvie?! Hardest player this side of ... aaaaaah, me thinks you might be looking forward to the midfielder poll when Bisconti and Richardson are there.
  7. Agreed. This is why I chose not to include any of the players who played before 1990 ... otherwise, we'd just have the starting lineup from Gothenburg, plus Charlie Nicholas.
  8. I just quoted directly from Dons1903's post, so ye can blame that bocht ein, min!
  9. I knew he was at Peterhead and WAS a striker until Peterhead moved him into defence. Just wisnae too sure on his history pre-Peterhead.
  10. Dunfermline Athletic v Greenock Morton/ Celtic - If its Dunfermline, they'll lay down. If it's Morton, then I fancy a wee upset Home win Forfar Athletic/ St Johnstone v Dundee United - I fancy an upset here too, regardless of who the Arabs come up against. Home win Hibernian v Edinburgh City/ Montrose - Should be a walk in the park for Hibs. Home win Livingstone/ Dundee v Ayr United/ Brechin City - Hmmm. Hard to tell. If Dundee go thru, it's got Home Win written all over it. However, Livi could be a different kettle Raith Rovers/ Airdrie United v Aberdeen - If it's Raith, I'd say a comfortable away win. If Airdrie ... not too sure. Kilmarnock/ Falkirk v Inverness CT/ Motherwell - away win St Mirren v Hamilton Accies/ Rangers - Really can't see past the huns in the form they're in just now Ross County/ Inverurie LW v Albion Rovers/ Stirling Albion - I'm gonna go for a cheeky home win, regardless of who the teams are. Would love Locos to get through
  11. Hmmm. Kjaer was actually part of a decent Dons team ... probably the best Dons team of the past ten years. He signed for us early in the 2001-02 season, and then left kinda midway through the 2002-03 season shortly after Ebbe left. So his stint here was probably best remembered for his contribution in the 2001-02 season, a term that saw us go something like eleven games unbeaten. I'll never forget the acrobatics that Kjaer used to do in goals. Safest pair of hands we've had in ten years. But Theo gets my vote. I had only just started actively following the Dons when Theo was around. Truly amazing keeper, and marginally better than the Jim Leighton Part Two that we saw in the late 90s. In my view, when Theo went to the huns, he did so to just get a bumper pay for the remainder of his career. TBH he probably picked up a better pay sitting on the bench at Ibrox than he did starring in goals for Aberdeen. But there's no doubting where his heart was! Even to this day, when asked what he'd love to do before he dies, he's said "walk out to a packed Pittodrie with everyone chanting my name".
  12. Did we send Willie to Peterhead? Or did we actually sign him from Peterhead?
  13. Really? Whilst I've nae seen him in the flesh to comment, a lot of people on here were moaning about Ross' contribution to the matches he was involved in

    Should be fixed now
  15. Shamelessly stolen from Friend Book. Since we're in the year 2010, I thought it'd be good to run over the next few weeks a few polls to name your top eleven of the past 20 years. Rules are, the players MUST have played for Aberdeen between 1990 and 2010. I'm not going to mention ALL players from the past two decades ... just the ones worth mentioning (hence no Bossu, Warner or ) Lets start with goalkeeper ...
  16. I think this is a cracking move by McGhee. I rate both Paton and Maguire. But both need game time to develop their respective games. Like BB says, Maguire suffers from wanting to be the hero every time - he doesnae hae a clue what it means to play as part of a team and work towards a collective goal. These loan deals will either toughen them up mentally and physically, or they'll realise that they've finally found their level. Unfortunately, we've lost a number of promising players by loaning them out. See Michie, Wyness and Ryan Strachan, for example. Both were tipped for BIG BIG things with Aberdeen. But they just couldn't get into the first team. So we loaned them out, and they lost the will to be Dons players after that. Wyness found his level with ICT in the first division; Michie just lost his confidence completely and now is pretty run-of-the-mill at Peterhead. Likewise, Strachan won the Rising Star SPL award just under 2 years ago. He was binned by Aberdeen and then by Celtic, and is now with Peterhead. I hope that both Maguire and Paton can come back developed mentally and physically. But this move also frees up some space in our squad budget for one or two players who are already established SPL/Championship caliber.
  17. Looks like this boys club sets up the young Rangers wannabes just nicely. See about 7min 46secs into the first video, and the lad clobbering a sly elbow to the other kid
  18. AC-DC - Hell Ain't No Bad Place To Be
  19. Oh I dunno. Given our track record in the cup, I reckon in an Aberdeen vs Aberdeen tie, we'd still find a way for both teams to be knocked out

I've sent a request to the server administrator to get the time on the server refreshed. Times in both forums look fine to me. Anyone else getting this problem?
  21. Yeah, I didn't want you to feel left out, min!
  22. Number 25 takes you all the way from the front door of Tinkcastle to the front door of Fester Road. Mind you, there's the small matter of a bus fare ... and we all know these diet-huns dinnae do bus fares, otherwise they'd be aff tae Ibrox each fortnight.
  23. Possible swap-deal for McDonald? TBH it would be a good swap. McDonald's a good player ... it just hasn't worked out for him at Aberdeen!
  24. Aberdeen last night made a move to sign Darren Barr, the Falkirk captain and Scotland international defender. The centre-back is out of contract in the summer and, while Aberdeen are unwilling to pay a fee to sign him now, they are prepared to offer Falkirk a substantial cut of any sell on fee should they free him to move north this month. Mark McGhee, the Pittodrie manager, is waiting for a response from both club and player before taking the move further, with Hibernian and John Hughes, Barr’s former manager, also credited with an interest.
