They've got email? Next you'll be telling me that they're allowed to dance on the streets of Raith.

Starks Park is a decent ground. I've nae been there since about 1995, but it was a decent ground back then. The stands are quite tidy and relatively modern, whilst still giving the ground a bit of character (unlike lifeless morgues like Rugby Park)

P&J: McGhee in move for ex-Rangers forward
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Callum Melville. He was keen on investing in the Dons. But the thought of his money being spent as Wiggy wanted was enough to persuade him to invest in Dundee, rather than invest in the club he supports. I think one of the major stumbling blocks with attempts to seek investment is nobody wants to invest in Aberdeen FC whilst Stewart Milne is in charge. There's SO SO SSSOOOOOO much money that's been pissed down the drain thanks to his leadership .... see two failed stock exchange excursions in the mid 90s. -
This is equal to us signing a PROVEN striker. Fyvie's a phenomenal talent, and this deal either means we get to keep him for quite some time yet, or someone's gonna part with BIG cash to get him. With Strachan watching this game, that's got to boost Fyvie's stock in the premiership.

But you have to admit, there were certain games where Bernard actually looked like a player worth £1million. The cup semi vs Rangers, he was immense. I remember a game at Tynecastle too which was being hyped up by the media as Colin Cameron's comback game, and how Cameron was gonna punish the Dons for the amount of time he'd been out injured. The press didn't pick up on the fact that it was also Bernard's comeback game. Bernard ran the show at Tynie, and Cameron didn't get so much as a whiff of the ball all game!

P&J: McGhee in move for ex-Rangers forward

I think this is the intention with the long contracts we've got the likes of Paton and Pawlett on. Sign them up for a decent length of period, and sell them whilst they have the "huge potential" tag. -
When Bernard actually played, he was an exceptional talent. The semi-final vs Rangers was prime example, as Bernard completely ran the show, allowing Jess the freedom to showboat and steal the limelight.

Farewell Tommy. I would say thanks for the memories, but all I remember is your two goals, your one red card, and the regular headline when the EE was short on news of "Wright out until Christmas" Glad he's gone. That free's up a wage and a place in the squad for someone else ... hopefully McLean or Dobbie. If we sign either as a result of Tommy leaving, we'd have to get the champaigne oot.

... and would this "certain site" be viewable overseas, manc_don? If so, could you PM me?

Cup final starting lineup was: Watt McKimmie - Inglis - Smith - Glass Miller - Bernard - Jess - Grant Dodds - Shearer Oh for that lineup these days ... minus Inglis

I'm reserving both players for the left/right midfield position polls, since that is where both were most well known.

Must admit, I only managed to see the second half. But AC Milan were unlucky. There was a period of about 20 minutes early in the second half where they camped themselves in Inter's half and only some spectacular saves from Julio Cesar and a few efforts hitting the woodwork prevented Milan from notching up at least an equaliser. But Inter's counterattacking was unreal. Pandev and Milito just seem to instinctively know where each other is on the park. Some of the thru-passes on show from Inter's strike partnership were a delight to watch.

I know it's not an admin competition. But what do Red Cards count for, in that light? Rules of the game state that a red card incurs at least a one-match ban. Fact of the matter is Dumb-fermline fielded a player who should've been serving a one-match ban. The SFA send a list of all banned players around before the games, so the Pars had no excuse for disobeying the rules of the game. They also listed players on the teamsheet who they had not registered for this competition. Yes, it's about playing on the park. But if everyone showed such disregard for the rules as Dumb-fermline have, the game would be in an even bigger shambles than it is just now.

THE OFFICIAL: "LET'S ALL LAUGH AT HEARTS"
Reekie_Red replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Football Chat
In other words, he sang "The Billy Boys!" and the Dons fans shouted "booooooooo!" -
I voted Wright and Robertson, purely on footballing ability. Never since Wright's move to the Dark Side have I been so angry about a Dons player leaving. He was a truly outstanding player and had SSSOOOOO much more to offer with the right coaching. However, he went to the huns and, resultantly, disappeared from pretty much everyone's radars. But what I remember of him and Robertson were truly magnificent defenders that would both easily command Premiership first-team berths in today's game.

See, I knew I'd forgotten someone fairly decent. I've reset the scores and added Mickey Hart.

So we have our goalkeeper. Without shadow of a doubt, the absolute Number1 of the past 20 years is Theo Snelders. Next up is the Left and Right Backs. To speed up the process, I'm going to allow you all to choose TWO players from this list. These will be the wingbacks. Not as clear-cut as the goalkeeping choice, as we've not exactly been blessed with wonderful wingbacks in the past two decades. This poll will run until next Saturday. Remember, these are ONLY players who've played for Aberdeen between 1990 and 2010. As before, I'm not going to mention ALL players from the past two decades ... just the ones worth mentioning.

Crawford to the Blue Toon for a month on loan
Reekie_Red replied to 19afc03's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Reckon it's a good move getting all these youngsters out on loan at the same time. Rather than getting no real valuable experience in the reserves, punting them out to Div1 and such will give these guys real decent experience of playing with and against many older guys who've been in the SPL many moons ago, and such. Hopefully these guys can realise this is not a slight on their ability, moreso a chance for them to gain valuable experience, whilst also freeing up squad-placed at Aberdeen for some temporary loan-move signings to help push us up the league this season. -
Apparently Gordon Smith didn't agree with the appeal decision. Fuckin joke how even the cup's governing body can be overruled by an independent advisory committee. A team who break FOUR rules in one game can be brought back into the cup by an independent committee, despite the opposing views of the competition's governing body? That's just yet another prime example of how fucked up Scottish football is

There'll be idiots who boo him, without a doubt. I don't think those who liked him will really bother to applaud him. But unfortunately those who dissed him will be heard easily
-
Wouldn't we be guaranteed a fee from any club looking to sign Fyvie? I'm sure there was legislation in place to protect clubs who bring young talent through by making the recipient club who sign any youngster have to go through a tribunal to pay a nominal fee for any player under a certain age. Isn't this why Newcastle had to pay us a wee sum for Glass?

Miller and McDonald put contract talks on hold
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Good. Any pennies we can get for these two under-performers is a bonus. Wouldn't be surprised if Killie submit a bid of 2x Killie Pies, and we take that bid and throw in Duff for good measure. -
Paton and A N Other. Paton needs an intelligent player who can hold the ball up and play into space. He needs a player with the intelligence of someone like Scott Booth or Craig Brewster to act as a foil

Or the one I made up about Gabriel Batistuta signing for us.
