Smart arse. You've got an answer for bloody everything Tom! Okay then, this week's lotto results will be: 4, 6, 16, 32, 33, 38 and the bonus ball will be 41 I'm waiting eagerly for your response

Why? Edinburgh hosted the Commonwealth Games at a stadium that was less than half the capacity of the current Pittodrie. And it was only a handful of years ago that Scotland and Ireland marginally missed out on a joint-bid for the Euro Championships. If I recall, SportScotland were seriously looking at throwing funds at Aberdeen City to get a decent stadium ready, if our bid was successful.

Shoulda sold him when we had the chance last January.

No, but a decent sports facility brings with it international sporting competitions. The Aberdeen Sports Village complex has already been selected as a training venue for the 2012 Olympics, and it's only a training facility! Imagine what a city-based arena would do for Aberdeen and Scotland's chances of holding something like the UEFA Euro Championships, the Commonwealth Games, or even junior-grade football world cups! Events like these bring tourists with them. Tourists spend more at restaurants, sight-seeing and domestic travel than any residents.

and Hatters hoping to be the first person to post "I saw Kaka walking into Pittodrie the day". Tom, I'm not suggesting we CLOSE Golf Road. As I said in my original post, why not explore the options of building stands over roads. There's plenty of stadiums around the world that step over roads, and cars simply pass under the stands. Clearly those lacking in a bit of imagination and heart on this forum have already bought into the idea of Loirston Loch Park. Tell me, how keen are you going to be to head out to Loirston Loch at 7pm on a late November evening for a match against St Mirren in the pissing, freezing cold rain? I absolutely refuse to believe that there is no other option that means Aberdeen FC cannot remain in Aberdeen City. Moving outside Aberdeen City will be the death of this club. On a side note, I see Milne has said in the AGM that he is still refusing to pour any of his own wealth into the playing squad. That's okay Stewart. But how about giving a lasting legacy to the club by building the new stadium. Take the money from the sale of Pittodrie if you like. But why not fund the new stadium. Shit, we'll even name it after you! What a legacy that would be!

No, nobody mentioned Miller getting a new contract. I bet you we'll chuck a brand new contract at him next time though, and pray that he signs it - regardless of how shite he is this season.

Ach, tear the fucker doon, I say! Too many shopping malls

It's not that I'm against moving. It's that I'm against moving to the middle of fuckin nowhere. THAT will be the death of us. Like has been mentioned previously, sticking the club in a field in the middle of nowhere will bid farewell to the "last minute" fans who just decide "ah fuckit, might as well go to the match the day". Surely to hell there's got to be decent priced land somewhere in the city that the club can grab that means we're still actually in Aberdeen! Go for fuckin broke! Build a new stadium here ... That'd be a great big fuckoff "WELCOME TO ABERDEEN" to anyone arriving in the city. All rail and bus travellers have easy access to the stadium. Quick hop off the St Claire for those Euro trips. I think I got a winner here!

A hell of a lot more than Lee Miller.

Look at the highlighted areas below! What about the large "nothing" land out the back of the South Stand? There's a massive area behind the South that is purely devoted to .... providing a path for the opposition fans to walk up. As for developing new stands at the existing Pittodrie site, why not build OVER the roads? Golf Road has nothing but the Broadhill Bar opposite it. And the Main Stand has nothing but a carpark on the other side of the road. Building over the roads, thus forcing traffic to tunnel underneath the new stands, must surely be an option that can be explored.

Now THAT is the sort of term we should be getting the decent kids signed up on. Get Paton, Fyvie and Aluko on similar deals, and we can then dictate the price when/if big clubs come sniffing. Well done Aberdeen!

I've read every angle on the proposed move away from Pittodrie, from today's current acceptance that we're gonna be playing in Cove, to the original plans that saw Wiggy standing over a cowshite-filled patch of land at Bellfield Farm about seven years ago ... see images below I refuse to believe that Pittodrie is a dead horse. Yes, the land around Pittodrie has been allowed to slip away from our grasp, but I've read a lot of talk from the pro-Cove/Loirston/wherever brigade that the ground that Pittodrie sits on is just not suitable to hold structures like multi-thousand-seater stands. If a piece of land no more than 300 metres away can hold something as magnificent as the Chris Anderson Sports Complex, why the fuck is ground beneath Pittodrie such a difficult thing to manipulate? Look at the great clubs of British football. The one thing the vast majority of them have in common is their stadiums are situated IN THE CITY! Arsenal and Man City, albeit have many many times the riches we have. But they have both relocated to new stadiums within close proximity of the old stadium. Even in Scottish football, the most prominent clubs have worked with various sections of the surrounding community to ensure that the club remains in the city. Hibs and Hearts, in particular, were tightly constrained by houses and public buildings. However, the city council have worked with both clubs to free up land so that Hearts could stay in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, and Hibs could stay in Leith. Aberdeen FC belongs at the beach as much as the Codonas, Beach Ballroom and the Kings Links. If you rip the heart out, the club just becomes another tenant in a lifeless shell of a stadium that is in a location brushed completely to one side. Aberdeen FC belongs first and foremostly in Aberdeen ... not in a commuter-suburb situated closer to Portlethen than to Aberdeen!

I was genuinely excited when we signed Hignett. The thought of him, Jess and a fully-fit Paul Bernard as our midfield was mouthwatering. And Hignett's first two games for the Dons gave me one of the most impressive displays I've ever seen from an Aberdeen player. He danced around Celtic and Dundee like they weren't there. Then Miller stopped allowing Hignett to travel down to Merseyside every week to see his son, so Hignett spat the dummy and just stopped playing for us. Cannae really blame Hignett for that, really! What fucked me off the most about Miller was how perilous a situation AFC was in, and we'd see him on the back page of the papers laughing away whilst sunning himself with the Scotland squad. Absolute fucktard of the highest order

Interesting reading that article by Spiers on Willie Miller losing the plot, yet the Dons fans still adore him. He put it perfectly when he said Willie will forever be remembered as the inspirational captain of the greatest ever Dons side. In the same light, Alex Miller will (regardless of what he does in life) always be remembered by Dons fans as the man who singlehandedly did the most intentional damage to Aberdeen Football Club in the club's history (I say intentionally cos Aitken and Paterson simply didnae hae a fuckin clue what they were doing). Lest we forget!

Spiers with a few words for Willie Miller
Reekie_Red replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Again, I don't believe Spiers is a hun. After reading a number of his articles over the past decade, I would be more inclined to think he's a fan of one of the east coast teams .... and I wouldn't put it past him being an Arab. -

Nah, it was a complete rebuild of pretty much every single part of the site.
-
Wasn't Shearer in charge of Buckie Thistle recently? Nae sure if he still is and cannae be arsed googling that fact.
-
Thanks. The rest such as the arcade, topic previews, and Youtube-embedding will be returning in good time.

I can imagine the events right now in the January window. We go for Paterson. Luggy says "who is this lad Paterson? Who does he play for? Ah who cares. Sign him up now before that bastard at Aberdeen does!" Luggy's assistant says "err, he's already on our books, Mr Sturrock" "He is?" remarks a surprised Luggy.

New font? Hmmm, pretty sure it's the same as before. You using firefox? If so, go to the following menus: View > Zoom > Reset Your text might've been slightly larger or smaller than normal

I've just done another upgrade on the site as there were just too many glitches to even contemplate on the old one. There's a few features of the site that are, as such, currently unavailable. Things like youtube embedding and the arcade are not currently active. I will be activating these again over the next few days. Can you all have a good play around with the site and let me know if you spot anything that's not right (or indeed anything that you think is better)? Note, the links at the bottom of each page are back again !
