Hmmm. Kjaer was actually part of a decent Dons team ... probably the best Dons team of the past ten years. He signed for us early in the 2001-02 season, and then left kinda midway through the 2002-03 season shortly after Ebbe left. So his stint here was probably best remembered for his contribution in the 2001-02 season, a term that saw us go something like eleven games unbeaten. I'll never forget the acrobatics that Kjaer used to do in goals. Safest pair of hands we've had in ten years. But Theo gets my vote. I had only just started actively following the Dons when Theo was around. Truly amazing keeper, and marginally better than the Jim Leighton Part Two that we saw in the late 90s. In my view, when Theo went to the huns, he did so to just get a bumper pay for the remainder of his career. TBH he probably picked up a better pay sitting on the bench at Ibrox than he did starring in goals for Aberdeen. But there's no doubting where his heart was! Even to this day, when asked what he'd love to do before he dies, he's said "walk out to a packed Pittodrie with everyone chanting my name".

Maguire and Paton to go out on loan?
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Did we send Willie to Peterhead? Or did we actually sign him from Peterhead? -
Really? Whilst I've nae seen him in the flesh to comment, a lot of people on here were moaning about Ross' contribution to the matches he was involved in

Shamelessly stolen from Friend Book. Since we're in the year 2010, I thought it'd be good to run over the next few weeks a few polls to name your top eleven of the past 20 years. Rules are, the players MUST have played for Aberdeen between 1990 and 2010. I'm not going to mention ALL players from the past two decades ... just the ones worth mentioning (hence no Bossu, Warner or ) Lets start with goalkeeper ...

Maguire and Paton to go out on loan?
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I think this is a cracking move by McGhee. I rate both Paton and Maguire. But both need game time to develop their respective games. Like BB says, Maguire suffers from wanting to be the hero every time - he doesnae hae a clue what it means to play as part of a team and work towards a collective goal. These loan deals will either toughen them up mentally and physically, or they'll realise that they've finally found their level. Unfortunately, we've lost a number of promising players by loaning them out. See Michie, Wyness and Ryan Strachan, for example. Both were tipped for BIG BIG things with Aberdeen. But they just couldn't get into the first team. So we loaned them out, and they lost the will to be Dons players after that. Wyness found his level with ICT in the first division; Michie just lost his confidence completely and now is pretty run-of-the-mill at Peterhead. Likewise, Strachan won the Rising Star SPL award just under 2 years ago. He was binned by Aberdeen and then by Celtic, and is now with Peterhead. I hope that both Maguire and Paton can come back developed mentally and physically. But this move also frees up some space in our squad budget for one or two players who are already established SPL/Championship caliber. -
Looks like this boys club sets up the young Rangers wannabes just nicely. See about 7min 46secs into the first video, and the lad clobbering a sly elbow to the other kid

AC-DC - Hell Ain't No Bad Place To Be

Oh I dunno. Given our track record in the cup, I reckon in an Aberdeen vs Aberdeen tie, we'd still find a way for both teams to be knocked out

I've sent a request to the server administrator to get the time on the server refreshed. Times in both forums look fine to me. Anyone else getting this problem?

Yeah, I didn't want you to feel left out, min!

Number 25 takes you all the way from the front door of Tinkcastle to the front door of Fester Road. Mind you, there's the small matter of a bus fare ... and we all know these diet-huns dinnae do bus fares, otherwise they'd be aff tae Ibrox each fortnight.

Possible swap-deal for McDonald? TBH it would be a good swap. McDonald's a good player ... it just hasn't worked out for him at Aberdeen!

Aberdeen last night made a move to sign Darren Barr, the Falkirk captain and Scotland international defender. The centre-back is out of contract in the summer and, while Aberdeen are unwilling to pay a fee to sign him now, they are prepared to offer Falkirk a substantial cut of any sell on fee should they free him to move north this month. Mark McGhee, the Pittodrie manager, is waiting for a response from both club and player before taking the move further, with Hibernian and John Hughes, Barr’s former manager, also credited with an interest.

Question 4 What question is this
-
That's part of loan deals, normally. In the 2000/01 season, we exercised this clause ruthlessly when we played Livi in the Scottish Cup (or could've been CIS Cup, nae too sure). Their star player at the time was Michael Hart - who was at the time on-loan to Livi from us. We decided to recall his loan for a period of one week until the cup tie was out of the way. IIRC, it was a shite tactic as we drew with them at Almondvale-City-Roundabout-Mcarthur-Glen Stadium, and then they beat us in the replay at Pittodrie. The only highlight of that first game was the taunting of Darren Jackson ... and the subsequent report in The Herald which said "Jackson was proof that, no matter how many clubs you move to, you'll always be stuck with the same stick", or to that effect.

SPL is a joke of a league. Nobody but the Old Firm will ever win it. And the team in last place has a monkey's chance of not being relegated!
-
Likewise, you didn't need to correct my choice of wording. Like those who preface facts with either "virtually" or "literally". It's not gramatically correct, but who cares?!
-
I don't think Bobby was saying Ifil or Consi are better players than Irvine. He was highlighting the fact that Irvine often made the same stupid mistakes that Ifil and Consi make on a regular basis - mistakes that were not really a part of Anderson's game.

I think I've fixed it. I've got a few people trying out a test-version of DonsTalk to see if the glitches have gone. If it works, I'll be taking the real DT down for about an hour and loading up the new site. So far it looks good, and there appear to be no glitches. But you'll see in good time.

Oooooh ouch! Well I see your Michael O'Neill and raise you .... Brian O'Neill

I bet the snowballs had golfballs with nails in them. Or razorblades ... with nails through them. There's always someone that whinges when snowballs get thrown. I mind a Tim on the train back in 2001 whinging about the snabas being thrown at Petrov and Thompson. FFS its sna, ya whinging weejie fucker!

Our coaches can work on his pace and fitness. Here's hoping he's already got plenty of the raw thingy we can't teach ... talent! (oh did I say that within earshot of Mackie?)
