  1. Take a look at any match thread on DonsTalk when Mackie plays for longer than 20 minutes, and you'll see that many Dons fans agree with my stance. For the return he has given us (no, 2 vital goals in five seasons is NOT a viable return!) he does not deserve to be an SPL striker .... certainly not a striker for an SPL club that harbours top-four ambitions every single season. Whilst I could've given the worst-homegrown accolade to Michie, Donald, Muirhead, O'Donoghue, etc, these players have all been shipped out to lower-league teams and have resultantly found their level. Mackie's level is NOT the upper SPL. He must be affa good to hae around the place for dressing room camaraderie and all that, cos he's a shit striker that has flown under the radar of three managerial teams (not including McGhee as I've not seen any comments from MM yet about Mackie).
  2. Well, Young is a dab hand at chinese checkers. Maguire has good skills on the internets. Lee Miller is pretty good at playing Hide & Seek. Are these the "abilities" you speak of?
  3. I'll start ... Worst Aberdeen Player of the Decade: Got to be Zdrillic. Never has so much hope drained away so quickly. Utterly disappointing Worst homegrown player: Darren Mackie - there's been a few, but how four sets of managers have seen an SPL quality in him, I'll never know! Worst signing: Tommy Wright Worst goalkeeper: Bertrand Bossu Worst defender: Jamie McQuilken Worst midfielder: Scott Muirhead Worst forward: Bryan Prunty Worst manager: Steve Paterson Pick your worst starting XI from the decade: Bossu; McQuilken, Rutkiewicz, Solberg, Lilley; Muirhead, Darren Young, Thornley, Fabiano; Prunty, Zdrillic Worst Game of the Decade: Sigma Olumuc at Pittodrie Biggest single disappointment of the decade: Not a single trophy to add to the cabinet
  4. Haha. Alright then. http://www.donstalk.co.uk/messageboard/index.php/topic,10285.0.html
  5. As the decade comes to an end, we've already been chipping in with our "Team Of The Decade" on another thread. It's been quite easy to pick a team of the decade as the real shining lights of AFC are pretty unanymous. However, do you think you can create a Shittest Team Of The Decade? The rules are you can ONLY select one player, one moment, and one starting-eleven for the below categories. This is gonna be tough! Worst Aberdeen Player of the Decade: Worst homegrown player: Worst signing: Worst goalkeeper: Worst defender: Worst midfielder: Worst forward: Worst manager: Pick your worst starting XI from the decade: Worst Game of the Decade: Biggest single disappointment of the decade:
  6. In my opinion, all it does is shows the lack of talent writing for the EE these days. Mackie should be nowhere near ANY Aberdeen side, nevermind near the Team Of The Decade. Just cos he's been playing for the Dons throughout the entire decade doesn't automatically make him worthy of being nominated for the best team of the past ten years.
  7. McGhee will say something. The Arabs caretaker manager will pin McGhee's comments up in the United dressing room. They'll beat us, and they'll say "I didn't have to do much in the way of motivation - my counterpart did that for me" However, it's about time we got revenge for the 4-0 thrashing they gave us back in the day when Deano got sent off 17 times. I'm still smarting from that defeat
  8. I thought that too. I thought McGhee's interest in Obiefule ended when he saw what Marshall could do
  9. Hmmmm. I'll take this with a pinch of salt. I'm lead to believe Anderson is looking at retiring soon and moving back home to Aberdeen to pursue a career in investment. Nevertheless, I wouldn't put it past someone like Anderson to sign for a club like Hibs and give them his all ... even when coming up against his beloved Dons - such is his phenomenal level of professionalism
  10. Ok, I apologise for the McDonalds remark. I personally have never given any abuse to McDonalds staff. But I have stood in that queue enough times to see that there is more than a minority of customers who give the McD's staff more than their fair share of abuse. Getting back to McKimmie, though. If Willie Miller walked past a packed South Stand, and someone shouted "Willie, yer a fuckin waste of money!" and Willie decided to stick the fingers up in the general direction of the South Stand, would you still herald him as high as you do now?
  11. So ... you can use it on your phone? Or you can't?
  12. Aye, but Bobby, the fans help pay the players wages. We all give heaps of abuse to yer average McDonalds employee. Can you imagine the uproar if said employee turned around and said "well, what do you expect? This is a fuckin McDonalds, ye tube!" I think the paying customer would be pretty fucked off. Same goes for professional sportsmen. Part of being a professional sportsman is that you remain PROFESSIONAL!
  13. I think in November 2006 it went a little bit like this: EE Hack: Stewart, we've got an article about Kirk Broadfoot here that we need you to put yer name to McKimmie: Errrr, who? Tomorrow's EE Sports Headline: McKimmie: Broadfoot for Scotland? I've never heard of him!
  14. Thanks. I think there's a coding problem on the site from when I did the last major upgrade. I'm currently working to get a cleanly installed version of Donstalk up and running on a different server. Once I've verified that the "your last post was x seconds ago" problem has gone, I'll switch the main site over to the new one.
  15. Whilst I agree with your comments about McKimmie being a top-class player, no player should EVER diss the fans who pay their wages. Look at the shit Barry Ferguson has received for sticking two fingers up at the Tartan Army.
  16. I'd be happy to just get rid of the debt-noose from around our necks for the first time since Wiggy became chairman.
  17. I disabled WYSIWYG editing in post-replies yesterday to combat another issue. But I had fears that doing so might cause a certain problem for mobile users. Can any other mobile users confirm the "Your last post was X seconds ago" error?
  18. I have switched off WYSIWYG editing for a trial-period. Switching it off may cause a couple of issues with viewing the site on mobile devices, so if any mobile users I can try it off and see how the mobile-users get on.
  19. Celtic's Scott McDonald and Chris Killen will be in the Aussie and NZ squads respectively. Koki Mizuno already has a small handful of Japanese caps, and could be in the World Cup squad if he proves to be any good for Ra Shellick.
  20. To the guys who get this error message, do you open several messages in one go across multiple tabs? I find I get the "Your last post was x seconds ago" when I open multiple messages in one go across multi-tabs, both in IE, Chrome and Firefox. I'm figuring out how to fix this problem, but am just wondering if others who have this problem view the site in the same way that I do?!
  21. Agreed. As much as I'd love them to play their entire playing careers at Aberdeen, I think it'll be our most obvious way of wiping out our debt if we can get Pawlett, Paton and Fyvie signed up on 3 or 4 year deals and then sell them asap. Two out of three have now been signed, and I can't see Fyvie moving yet. I think McGhee's £10million valuation of Fyvie is optimistic at best. But I see no reason why we can't get at least £10million for these three players together!
  22. McKimmie was a cracking player ... we've arguably not had a wing-back of his quality since he retired. But he thinks he's an Aberdeen Legend. Excuse me Stewart, but your hopes of becoming an Aberdeen Legend went right out the window when you stuck the fingers up at the South Stand fans.
  23. The Brush and King Joey to lead the line on Boxing Day'? I'd put money on them scoring more than our regular strikeforce!
  24. Add the new Aberdeen FC stadium to that equation, and you might just have a worthwhile bet on yer hands!
  25. Wyness was a decent enough man. He was full of utopian ideas, like getting Huns and Dons fans to sit together - never gonna work unless yer name is Alan "HugAHun" Duncan. But he was a decent enough man. I had a couple of wee chats with him back in 2001-2, and he certainly gained my respect for being a good, light-hearted man who enjoyed watching the Dons and enjoyed his wines. Was it Wyness who stood with the Red Army at Ibrox? Or was that Bennett?
