Auckland 3-0 winners against Melbourne. Brilliant strike by May to open the scoring! Top o the league again for a couple of hours at least
-
Always going for the underdog ... until they face us
-
-
Booo. Outside the OF, there's no team I'd love to see lose to lower opposition (or ANY opposition) than Hearts. Fkn Huns without busfares
-
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this one. I reckon it's gonna be too early for Gueye to make a telling impact. But I reckon we'll just squeeze it and score a couple in the final 10 minutes, leading to "Dons leave it late in cup win" headline: Elgin 1-3 Aberdeen - Keskinen, Jensen, Morris
-
I'm not one who gets to see the Dons live very often these days, so please educate me, chaps. Is it Thelin's zonal system that the team struggles with? I've seen talk of the first team being absolutely exhausted, maybe this is why? If so, then I can only assume JT is hunting for players who can play his specific style of football, and not many of what he inherited have shown an ability to do this. Happy to be educated otherwise
-
So that's Thelin's 12th consecutive game without a win. Putting that into perspective, McGhee was sacked after 1 win in 13 games. Was always gonna be a tough ask at Snake Mountain, but jesus wept ... beyond Doohan's countless saves and Jensen's nice wee run, we had nothing. Anything but a win against Elgin must surely put a huge question mark over Thelin
-
Apparently us, The Huns and both Edinburgh clubs are keen on taking Allan Campbell on loan from Luton Town
-
I really dunno what to expect at Snake Mountain. They like us are Jekyll & Hyde at the moment - i'm hoping we are the former whilst they are the latter. Thelin suggests its too early for Jensen, as he's at the tail-end of the Swedish off-season and will need a few weeks to come up to speed. They've got a few defenders out injured and their GK Buckland is out too. A chance for Topi to run hard and fast against a defensive line who aren't too familiar with each other?? I also quite fancy MacKenzie to chip in and show Sheffield Wednesday what he's capable of. 2-2, MacKenzie and Keskinen
-
Ah nah, I meant [Jack] MacKenzie
-
Maybe Jack has watched the shite that Barron has received from going to THEM and thought he'd rather actually move to an ambitious club that won't ostracise his entire family from the north-east. Now ... when are we getting a new #9? And please don't let it be Shankland
-
Ah yes, correct!
-
I think the only homegrown youth Deek ever showed time for was Connor McLennan and Bruce Anderson. Even then the latter was only really a late sub. Even Wright never really flourished until the Glass/Goodwin era, as IIRC McInnes farmed him out to Dundee
-
I had fears he'd do a Chris Maguire and choose to let his contract expire before signing a brand new one, thus shafting us. But Lewis seems to be waaaaaay more professional and classy than Bebo ever was
-
Jensen fee agreed a couple of days ago. It's now down to personal terms. As for Isak, the guy only scores every 113 minutes. That sort of stat is never gonna dislodge Peter Ambrose as first choice
-
Spurs fans don't see Dorrington ever breaking into the top team on a regular basis. However Ange has given him a new contract til 2029 immediately before sending him up to us. So clearly he thinks there's something there. Dorrington (I keep wanting to call him Donnington for some reason) has represented England at all youth levels up to his current U19 status, so he must have something about him ...
-
Jesus. I've just reviewed the highlights. The lad who was playing just as shit as Ambrose... turns out to be Duk! Feck, maybe I am racist after all
-
The Depressing Journal says Dorrington is an England U19 International and plays Central Defence.
-
Who would take him? I doubt Stonehaven Juniors would even want him. I watched him in the hearts game and I can only liken him to a stick floating down a river. he bumps into everything, mostly unintentional. Sometimes the ball comes to him, and both he and the ball go spinning off in a different direction until the overall force of the river re-directs the ball back in the correct direction.
-
Oct 2001 down at Almondvale, Solberg definitely played left back. IIRC it was Whyte and Phil McGuire in the middle back then as Anderson was on his way back from a leg break
-
I watched the Nots Forest vs Luton FA Cup game this weekend. Luton were good, contained Forest for long periods of the game. I thought Walsh ?their Defensive midfielder) was particularly good for much of the game. But they were ultimately undone by a Forest team who are riding high in the Premiership. A healthy sig that they rested so many of their big guns for this and were still 2-0 up by the time the big guns came on in the final 10 minutes
-
Solberg was more of a LB, and he played when we had a CB pairing Whyte and Anderson ... a pairing I'd settle for any day
-
Pretty sure David Lilley and John Inglis played together for a few. Didn't we also try Haraldur Ingolfsson in defence once too, and he was absolutely abysmal
-
So long as none of our currently fit strikers are playing, we should win this
-
As JT says, he seems to be the consummate professional. His arrival spiel at Aberdeen comes off the back of a classy farewell to the GCZ fans and club: "Dear GCZ fans, I want to thank all of you for your support, energy, passion, and love you have shown me throughout this one and a half year! You made every game unforgettable! Though I’m moving on to a new chapter with a different team, I will be forever grateful! "Dear GCZ staff, big thanks to each and every one of you for your hard work and support, I truly appreciate everything you’ve done! "Finally, It’s been an pleasure to play alongside with such talented and dedicated teammates! Thank you for making my time here so special! "I wish you all the best for the season ahead and beyond! Hopp GC!" Welcome, lad. Now for one more CB and a #9
