Pretty sure David Lilley and John Inglis played together for a few. Didn't we also try Haraldur Ingolfsson in defence once too, and he was absolutely abysmal
-
So long as none of our currently fit strikers are playing, we should win this

As JT says, he seems to be the consummate professional. His arrival spiel at Aberdeen comes off the back of a classy farewell to the GCZ fans and club: "Dear GCZ fans, I want to thank all of you for your support, energy, passion, and love you have shown me throughout this one and a half year! You made every game unforgettable! Though I’m moving on to a new chapter with a different team, I will be forever grateful! "Dear GCZ staff, big thanks to each and every one of you for your hard work and support, I truly appreciate everything you’ve done! "Finally, It’s been an pleasure to play alongside with such talented and dedicated teammates! Thank you for making my time here so special! "I wish you all the best for the season ahead and beyond! Hopp GC!" Welcome, lad. Now for one more CB and a #9

Doesn't his missus play for Aberdeen Women?

Hibs allegedly wanting Kelle Roos Lol

Particularly with Sokler out for a while and the others being pish.

Confirmed on Sky Sports transfer centre: Aberdeen agree defender deal Latest from Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph: Aberdeen have agreed a deal worth around £800,000 for Grasshoppers centre-back Kristers Tobers. The Latvia captain has also agreed personal terms with the Dons. He is due to arrive in Scotland tomorrow to undergo a medical and finalise the move.

The defence is absolutely bereft of all confidence at the moment, and this is creeping in further up the field. I believe the only way to fix it is to being in quality in defence ... we ain't gonna fix the defence buying cheap. Okkers is in, Tobers almost in. I think we still need to keep the pressure on trying to get Jensen in too. Then when the time comes, get rid of MacDonald as he simply cannot play in JTs system Molloy is one for the future. If the new guys prove to be comfortable and competent, maybe pop Molloy or Rubi next to them against lower quality opposition so that they can continue their education
-
I know Okkels hasn't played much since leaving Elfsborg. But the fact he has played 3 years under JT tells me he knows how to play in Jimmy's systems. If he's a left winger, don't we already have Keskinen in that position? Still urgently need defenders ... possibly four of them. Our team needs a refresh of confidence at the back. Molloy out long term, Devlin and Jack clearly still recovering. And Rubi I'd happily not see in a red jersey again. Hopefully we can agree a fee for Jensen and hes the first of four swift signings in defence

Rumours that Inter are preparing a £16.5M bid for Ferguson in this window. This is only a month after interest from AC Milan and only a month after signing an extension that contracts him to Bokogna til 2028. May the bidding war commence

I read it was St J who were after Ramsay

I've wondered that for a while. Ournsuccessful period was largely based on having the likes of Keskinen tired the opposition for 46 minutes, then we'd sub him for Morris who would use his freshness to cut past the defence and set up Duk, Gueye, Sokler or Nisbet. I was surprised it took 11 games for the other Premiership managers to figure it out. But it and the zonal marking tactic seem to be what JT worked the team so hard on in the summer. Shinnie said it himself it took them a fair bit of effort to learn this different tactic. So now that the other teams have figured this out, JT needs to embed an additional tactic when this one is sussed out on the day. Hopefully this is part of his 3 yr plan, to embed a series of different tactics that can be deployed like second-nature.

Shows how shit the league is. 7 games ago we were talking of potential Chapions League and Hibs were talking relegation. Now we are canon fodder and Hibs are talking Top 6. Of course, Hearts still say 2nd is mathematically possible
-
Hints that it'll cost us about £700k to get him now rather than wait til summer. We need new defenders now!

Merry Xmas manc_don. Hope today has been exceptional. Me and my better half have had a day of pretty much non-stop drinking and eating. My kids are with their mother til 27th, so we took the opportunity to club together with other ex-pat pals who don't have kids this Xmas. Finishing off the day right now with a fine Glenlivet 18 yr old

Scratching ASC on walls all over the place. Ah great days!

I've only managed to watch a handful of games in full online this season, the rest has all been the YouTube highlights and the post match analysis in the papers and on here. But from what ive seen and read, most critical rhis January is at least one experienced CB. Rubi and Molloy are too inexperienced to be together at the same time, and they seem to be directly responsible for at least one goal each game at the moment. An experienced CB alongside a rotating Rubi/Molloy could work. MacDonald has the experience but has all the confidence of a long country walk after a plate of undercooked prawns. And we seem to have a cast of a thousand pisspoor #9's. It's often slim pickings in the January window, but we need to probably spend a fair bit of our Miovski winnings and land ourselves a decent striker. Nisbet doesn't get enough game time, Sokler struggles, Ambrose makes Leon Mike look like Messi, and I simply don't believe Pape will find his early season form particularly with the rest of the squad in its current slump

Exactly. Anyone considering the move from Pittodrie to Ibrox should go and have a wee chat with David Robertson first to see what happens

EPL and Champions League are rammed down our throats by the Aussie and Kiwi media, particularly the EPL. Here in NZ, sports headlines regularly get dominated by Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and whoever Chris Woods is playing for at the time. Go to any A-League game and, whilst you'll see a LOT of home tops, you will also see a wide sprinkling of tops from across Europe ... I wore my scotland top to the last Auckland FC game as it's the only blue sports top I own. But what I'm eventually getting at is football is "liked" over here. It's not loved like it is back home, and that's reflected in the crowds. It is still a pro sport in its infancy here, there's no "my father's father was a season ticket holder" situations yet, and whilst there is an element of die-hard fans who love going for a good ol sing-song, the majority "like football" and go along to games when it's fashionable to do so.
-
Problem is these games are being played in Rugby League stadiums. The NRL attracts decent crowds. Despite football being huge at junior level in Australia and NZ, the A League still struggles with attendances. I don't know the answer to it, and suspect Auckland attendances will fall away to around 10k once their crazy run ends

Not a single mention of Neil Warnock. Even the Chairman is trying to erase all memory of that Hun prick

Marcus Younis? Think he plays in the PSV reserves

Watched the extended highlights of this game the other day. So.ething that struck out to me was every single Celtic corner, they had someone pushing Doohan into the nets. Looked like the ref picked this up once. But I remember seeing this in the 6-0 and the 2-2 draw as well. Is this legit? Can they do this? Seems highly suss to consistently target taking out the keeper in every corner kick
-
1-0 defeat against a ridiculously expensive celtic team was to be expected. Draws against the Edinburgh teams should not be sniffed at as they are fighting for every scrap. The defeat vs St Mirren was the real shock in all this. We need to get back to winning ways this weekend though to avoid the team settling into a negative mental slump. I think we can take this 2-0, Sokler, Besuijen

Mt Smart is supposedly a 25,000 capacity stadium for sports. Its predominantly a rugby league stadium (home to thr Warriors who are part of the NRL) but has been picked up by Auckland FC for the A-League. I wasn't at today's game but watched it on the tele. Was at last week's game vs Newcastle It's not often in life you get to watch the birth of a brand new football team in a "top" league, including the swell of crowds week on week, the creation of fanzones, the invention of brand new terrace songs ... I'm really enjoying watching them create something out of nothing.
