Good vs Evil - Saturday LIVE on Sky Sports

Saw the Daily Rangers' player-ratings. Who the hell let this go to print?? It actually praises Aberdeen! FFS sack that clown! ABERDEEN Jamie Langfield 6 Stunning second-half stop to deny Boyd but had very little else to deal with. Maurice Ross 6 Full of running on right. Defended solidly but sloppy at times with his distribution. Richard Foster 6 One of two full-backs at centre-half. Struggled with his positioning at times but had the pace to get out of bother. Charlie Mulgrew 7 Did his best to organise defence and used ball well. Stopped Novo netting equaliser. Davide Grassi 7 Brought in at last minute. Looked ring rusty at first but grew in confidence. Peter Pawlett 9 Absolutely outstanding from the first minute. Lightning fast with superb feet and composure way beyond his years Mark Kerr 6 Had been enjoying superb game until sent off for two heavy tackles on Naismith. Derek Young 8 Superb. His first start of season but got through lot of the dog's work as Aberdeen hustled Rangers out of their stride. Michael Paton 9 Had Whittaker on toast to set up Miller's opener , then put in a heroic shift helping his team keep Rangers out. A real gem. Lee Miller 9 Top-class performance. Touch and hold-up play excellent and topped it all with a goal. Chris Maguire 7 Incredible energy. Buzzed around and always gave Miller the support he needed. Subs: Stuart Duff - on for Maguire after Kerr's red card. Helped keep Aberdeen solid, 4. Darren Mackie - given last five minutes, 2. RANGERS Allan McGregor 6 Can't be faulted for Miller's goal and hardly had another save to make. Steven Whittaker 4 His nightmarish run continues. Skinned by Paton for goal and confidence shot to bits. David Weir 5 Struggled to cope with Miller. It's not often the veteran gets such a hard time in SPL. (time to retire, old man. Second thoughts, stay where you are!) Danny Wilson 7 Probably the only Rangers player who deserved pass marks. Another great show. Sasa Papac 6 Looked to be going through the motions at times - and doing so too slowly to keep up with Pawlett. Steven Davis 6 Deployed wide on the right which made no sense. Tried best but grew in frustration. Steven Naismith 5 Must be in serious danger of forgetting his true position. Clue - it's not centre midfield. Lee McCulloch 6 Swamped in the centre of midfield. Didn't hide but needed help. John Fleck 5 Offered almost nothing on left until late on. Outshone by Pawlett on same flank. (and yet he is still rated several million pounds higher than Pawlett! ) Kris Boyd 5 Way off the pace in the first half and missed a string of chances in the second. Kyle Lafferty 3 Oh dear. Only got 45 minutes but it seemed to last days. Agonising performance. Subs: Kenny Miller - on at break. Added urgency to forward play but then faded, 4. Nacho Novo - showed enough to suggest he deserves a start, 4. Madjid Bougherra - mercifully sent on for Whittaker in 75 minutes. Could possibly be set for a run at right-back, 3. THE MANAGERS Mark McGhee: This was the Aberdeen manager's first ever victory over Walter Smith. He earned it. 8 Walter Smith: Must take his share of the blame for this defeat. Got his starting line-up wrong. 4 THE MAN IN BLACK Craig Thomson's first big iffy decision was to deny Rangers a penalty (bullshit). The whistler had no option in sending off Mark Kerr (again, bullshit) but began to unravel from that moment on. 4 MAN OF THE MATCH Lee Miller (Aberdeen) -
Works fine for me. There was 8 or 9 of us in there for the Rangers game. Have you tried on a different browser? Or a different computer?

The 4th official said something to McGhee. McGhee turned to Mackie and Diamond, and the two loons cracked up. -
SkySports were a joke. The half-time punditry treated the scoreline from the perspective that Rangers were losing 1-0, and were hard-done by with the non-penalty decision. Not a mention of the fact that Aberdeen were WINNING 1-0. The only saving grace for SkySports was the fact that Scotty Booth did his best to redress the balance by talking Aberdeen up at every given opportunity. Good on ye, Boothy!

VERY proud of that Aberdeen team today. Langfield did well with most things chucked at him. Miller scored ... and won just about everything that came his way (he must be up for contract renewal or something) Pawlett and Paton (and even Maguire) were awesome today. Full of running and skill, and were running circles around the huns' grampas. Even Young had a pretty good game But Kerr got MOTM from me. Simply outstanding. He ran the show for us. This was made even more obvious when he went off to get stitches in his knee, cos we disappeared for that 7 minute period. No way was his challenge worthy of a second-yellow. It was a foul, yes. But it wasn't a dangerous foul or a persistent foul, and there was certainly no malice in it. Typical masonic refs. Well done Aberdeen! -
Spot the anti-Aberdonian woman working for the Met Office! Jeeeeez. The one thing that we get awarded for, and she goes and rains (no pun intended) on our parade. Why couldn't she just comment with "yes, Aberdeen is the sunniest city in Scotland in 2004".

Don't lie, GS. You've got this pic as your computer wallpaper, and whenever this topic comes up you shove this pic on Imageshack for all to view -
And there ends your dream. Since when did the sun ever appear in Aberdeen? Fclown

Wasn't as bad as the away strip ... Only decent thing to come out of that strip was the sketch in the Red Final

Nae meaning to sound like Mr Politically Correct here. But I'm sure said less-able-bodied individuals would gladly pay a tenner more in exchange for having a fully-functioning body. Same goes with disabled parking spaces. They are normally either free or have much longer time-limits on them than standard carparks. My missus has bad arthritis in her feet after a renal transplant ten years ago, and nothing fucks her off more than seeing a lazy, perfectly-able person parking in the last disabled space just because said person can't be bothered hunting for a regular space. As she says "you can have my reduced price parking space on the condition that you also have my disability".

This from SkySports: Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has conceded defeat in the club's attempts to sign USA international Stuart Holden. The Aberdeen-born midfielder is set to become a free agent as his contract with MLS side Houston Dynamo expires at the end of the month. McGhee was keen to bring the 24-year-old back to Scotland, but concedes he may be unable to match the wages on offer from rival teams. No surprise "It's no surprise that he is attracting interest from bigger clubs," McGhee told the Evening Express. "It's likely we've missed the boat on that one now because there is no way we will be able to compete with the type of wages he is likely to be offered. "It's frustrating but that's the world we live in."

Smart arse. You've got an answer for bloody everything Tom! Okay then, this week's lotto results will be: 4, 6, 16, 32, 33, 38 and the bonus ball will be 41 I'm waiting eagerly for your response

Why? Edinburgh hosted the Commonwealth Games at a stadium that was less than half the capacity of the current Pittodrie. And it was only a handful of years ago that Scotland and Ireland marginally missed out on a joint-bid for the Euro Championships. If I recall, SportScotland were seriously looking at throwing funds at Aberdeen City to get a decent stadium ready, if our bid was successful.

Shoulda sold him when we had the chance last January.

No, but a decent sports facility brings with it international sporting competitions. The Aberdeen Sports Village complex has already been selected as a training venue for the 2012 Olympics, and it's only a training facility! Imagine what a city-based arena would do for Aberdeen and Scotland's chances of holding something like the UEFA Euro Championships, the Commonwealth Games, or even junior-grade football world cups! Events like these bring tourists with them. Tourists spend more at restaurants, sight-seeing and domestic travel than any residents.

and Hatters hoping to be the first person to post "I saw Kaka walking into Pittodrie the day". Tom, I'm not suggesting we CLOSE Golf Road. As I said in my original post, why not explore the options of building stands over roads. There's plenty of stadiums around the world that step over roads, and cars simply pass under the stands. Clearly those lacking in a bit of imagination and heart on this forum have already bought into the idea of Loirston Loch Park. Tell me, how keen are you going to be to head out to Loirston Loch at 7pm on a late November evening for a match against St Mirren in the pissing, freezing cold rain? I absolutely refuse to believe that there is no other option that means Aberdeen FC cannot remain in Aberdeen City. Moving outside Aberdeen City will be the death of this club. On a side note, I see Milne has said in the AGM that he is still refusing to pour any of his own wealth into the playing squad. That's okay Stewart. But how about giving a lasting legacy to the club by building the new stadium. Take the money from the sale of Pittodrie if you like. But why not fund the new stadium. Shit, we'll even name it after you! What a legacy that would be!
-
No, nobody mentioned Miller getting a new contract. I bet you we'll chuck a brand new contract at him next time though, and pray that he signs it - regardless of how shite he is this season.
-
Ach, tear the fucker doon, I say! Too many shopping malls
-
It's not that I'm against moving. It's that I'm against moving to the middle of fuckin nowhere. THAT will be the death of us. Like has been mentioned previously, sticking the club in a field in the middle of nowhere will bid farewell to the "last minute" fans who just decide "ah fuckit, might as well go to the match the day". Surely to hell there's got to be decent priced land somewhere in the city that the club can grab that means we're still actually in Aberdeen! Go for fuckin broke! Build a new stadium here ... That'd be a great big fuckoff "WELCOME TO ABERDEEN" to anyone arriving in the city. All rail and bus travellers have easy access to the stadium. Quick hop off the St Claire for those Euro trips. I think I got a winner here!
-
A hell of a lot more than Lee Miller.
-
Look at the highlighted areas below! What about the large "nothing" land out the back of the South Stand? There's a massive area behind the South that is purely devoted to .... providing a path for the opposition fans to walk up. As for developing new stands at the existing Pittodrie site, why not build OVER the roads? Golf Road has nothing but the Broadhill Bar opposite it. And the Main Stand has nothing but a carpark on the other side of the road. Building over the roads, thus forcing traffic to tunnel underneath the new stands, must surely be an option that can be explored.
-
Now THAT is the sort of term we should be getting the decent kids signed up on. Get Paton, Fyvie and Aluko on similar deals, and we can then dictate the price when/if big clubs come sniffing. Well done Aberdeen!
