  2. ... and sure as huns are huns, Martin Bain goes and drops his tuppenceworth into the equation in today's paper.
  3. If I remember rightly, there was a huge demonstration outside Parkhead back in 1994 where the club was hours away from going bankrupt. Of course, most Celtic fans won't know that becuase, despite being "life-long fans" and singing the line "if ye know yer history" every week, most of them wouldn't even know that there were five managers between Jock Stein and Tommy Burns. To most, Jock lead the Lisbon Lions ... and then everything magically transformed into the Tommy Burns years. I reckon we should start singing "where were you when you were shite?" at the gloryhunting plastic paddy wankers. But McGhee makes an interesting point. The last time I heard anything from Ibrox on playing in another league was when John McClelland was parading this idea around back in 2001 ... which famously lead to Keith Wyness brilliantly referring to the Old Firm as "two old ladies on Sauchiehall Street lifting their skirts for every league that walks by". Peter Lawell seems to make reference to this mythical league every second week. But I'm hearing nothing from Ibrox!

  5. He wasn't flash in any way. But he was consistent, I'll give him that much. Dunno if I really want him back though. And it's not the "he's turned us down several times already" problem, cos Lee Miller turned us down three times prior to signing for us. Stevie Crawford counted four times before signing us!!! I just think there's youngsters who'd relish the chance to show what they can do in that position who would be far more committed to the cause than Maybury would be, and for a fraction of the wage.
  6. What a way to say it from the heart ...
  7. When me, Alfrom and jager went to Denmark for the Dons' preseason tour about nine years ago, we got lost on the way to Farum's ground. We walked completely in the wrong direction and found ourselves at what looked like an abandoned factory, and the sign on the factory wall said "Spünk". We took a photo of it with the idea of sending it in to Viz. Buggered if I can remember where that photo is. I always wondered what that factory made ... and now I know!

  9. Can anyone who is experiencing this "Your last post was x seconds ago" error please provide me with the following details: What internet browser do you use?: Do you notice this problem happening at specific times of the day? (please detail): Are any of you members of specific DonsTalk membergroups (such as the Globe Reds, etc)? Also please state if you are NOT a member of any specific DT groups:
  10. Ant & Dec - Shout (C'mon Let It Out)
  11. Son of a ... Okay, I'll try some more tweaks and will let you know when to try again
  12. Agreed. Better off without Charlie Allan in the EE's team of reporters
  13. Nirvana - Come As You Are
  14. So basically Charlie Allan was hovvering around the front door at Pittodire, spotted McGhee and said "Any idea when Diamond will be back, Mark?" McGhee said "I don't know when he'll be back. Do I look like the club doctor?" And now Fat Ex-postie's omitted the "FYI" directed at him and made a backpage headline out of it. Another non-story from this excuse of a reporter.
  15. Just made a change to the coding of the site. Can anyone report if you're still experiencing this particular problem?
  16. I've been told reliably he's not looking at moving back to Scottish football in a playing-sense EVER. My extremely reliable source has said Russell's looking at retiring very very soon (within the next 2 years), and heading back to the Granite City to start a career in the investment sector. I chose "unsure". I'm sure he'd still be able to do an awesome job for us. But we don't need defenders. If we're gonna "pull out all the stops", I'd prefer it to be on a decent striker or attacking midfielder.
  17. Nah. There's not many off-topic threads I get pleasure out of these days due to people hijacking threads all the time. The music game thread is one of my few remaining pleasures on this site these days, so I'm not gonna let the fucktards ruin that too! George Harrison - Unconsciousness Rules
  18. The server is in New Zealand. Daylight savings happened here just last week, hence why the time was thrown out by one hour. I've altered the timezone which should correct the hour immediately. I'm not sure why the time is out by so many minutes though. My computer clock is in-sync with world time servers and is currently only 3 minutes the time displayed on the site. Bobby, try syncing your computer's time. Right-click on the time on the bottom-right (assuming you're not using a white fruity-branded computer), click on "Adjust Date/Time", select the "Internet Time" tab and then select "Update Now". This should get your computer's clock uptospeed with the current time. Although, if you're viewing DonsTalk from work, it could be that all the computers at your work are syncing to the time on your work's central gateway.
  19. I always called John Hewitt for World Cuppy at school ... mainly cos his name sounded like my favourite sugar-filled treat at the time ... Chewitts.
  20. Eddie Murphy - Party All The Time
  21. Agreed, Bobby. Yes he got us into Europe (twice), achieved some memorable wins, steered the club back to a position of respectability and credibility (esp vs Rangers and Celtic) and brought about a general stabiliity at the club that's been lacking for many many years. But his managerial form with the Dons was just too extreme from week-to-week. I mean, humping Copenhagen ... or being humped by QotS. I felt his time was up in January 2008. He'd lost interest in the Dons back then, it was obvious on his face, in his expressions, in the way he carried himself in interviews and at the side of the pitch. He should've gone out on a high back then. Instead we stupidly gave him another 3 year contract. Three additional years in a job you really don't want to be in? Nah, it was set up for failure on our behalf. Meanwhile he doesn't need to do any work in football for a while, cos we've paid him and Jimmy Nicholl a handsome payout fee to sever the contract.
  22. If he's Aberdeen's answer, then I'm presuming the answer is "awa an shite, min"
  23. But these days it's so bloody difficult to find goalscorers. Any striker who can score more than 10 goals in a season gets snapped up by Portvale/Darlington/Luton/insert-random-division2-team ... or the Old Firm grab him and let him rot in their reserves for three years and sell him back to the original club along with wage demands that are ten times what they deserve. Gone are the days when Aberdeen could comfortably hold on to the likes of Harper or McDougall. A striker who can score more than 20 goals in a season gets valued dramatically more than a goalkeeper who can keep 20 successive cleansheets. Whilst we appear to have our defence sorted out, I think it's gonna be a long long time until we see a quality striker at Aberdeen who can bang the goals away on a regular basis. Until then, we're gonna have to rely on players from all over the park to score. Whether that be Mulgrew's foot, Kerr's head or Mackie's arse, I don't care. But we need to be teaching ALL players how to score, not just the strikers.
  24. Is it the number of yards distance between Kris Boyd and the nearest player to him before he'll consider falling over?
