Jesus. Do I need to hit my head against a brick wall any more with conversations with you? You really don't grasp the concept of my argument, do you? My entire argument is he has been a very disappointing signing because we've seen so little of him and we are now entering the 31st competitive match of the season. There's a whole different thread on this forum debating the return for our money we're getting from Jamie Smith. I am very disappointed that we've only seen two starts from Wright when we are now into the business end of the season. What does it matter whether I've seen him play or not?

Twice. He came on in the last minute of the 1-1 draw with the huns at Pittodrie, and then royally fucked up by handling the ball in the area when Aberdeen were outplayed by Sandaza. None. Considering there's over 17,000km between me and Pittodrie, I don't really fancy the trip to see a United league game, to be honest! My whole point is that he has almost been forgotten as an Aberdeen player. When he came on against East Fife, I thought "holy fuck, I forgot he was on our books!". Never anywhere did I imply that it was the quality of his play that made him disappointing ... other than that hand-ball incident

Nugget So starting 2 games since August is acceptable to you? Injuries, loss of form, whatever .... he was signed under an umbrella of hope in the summer, and he so far has failed to live up to that hype. That, in my book, is disappointing. Maybe you're happy with this. Or perhaps you'd just prefer to go on pointing out spelling errors.

I've sat up at 4am on Sunday mornings enough times this season, watching shitty streaming videos fae some tim sitting with a webcam facing his screen, or listening to some choppy shittey net-radio broadcast, to kind of get a grasp of the idea that Tommy Wright really hasn't shown us what he's really made of. Unless you're stuck in the dark ages (highly possible if you live in Aberdeenshire or Morayshire) then you'll probably have heard of this thing called "the internet". It is a tool that not only lets you watch as much porn as you want, but it also lets you watch every single television and radio broadcast of the Dons that ever occurs ... all from the comfort of your New Zealand home. I've sat, at 5am in the morning, getting shit-faced on rum, beer, wine, sambuka, whatever I can find, trying my best to listen/watch the Dons matches each weekend. Unless the commentators and cameras are watching a completely different game, don't fuckin tell me my point is invalid "because I wasn't there!".

None. Still doesn't distract away from my original point that, especially with all the hype surrounding his arrival at Pittodrie, he's been one of the most disappointing signings we've made in recent years ... probably only eclipsed by Jackie McManamana (doo-dooooo, dee-doo-doo).

I've finished off a nice bottle of Pinot Noir (Wild South, Malborough, NZ) by masel over the past hour. Feelin fuckin tastic, and ready for the Killie game in two hours. Still got half a bottle of Coruba that I will be getting stuck into next: ... and of course our latest hoose guests left me a bottle of Opal Nero sambuka, which is whispering my name right now! It is Killie we're playing, so I may have to look out the auld junkie needles to liven things up, hehe.

Wright has been one of the biggest disappointments this season for me. We tried our friggin best to get him to sign for the Dons. The press are making noises about Smith coming back. And rightfully so! If nothing else, the goals he scored against Copenhagen will live long in many Dons fans' memories. But Wright? The ONLY thing I can ever remember him for is that ludicrous handball incident against the Arabs in September. I think Wright is a player who is going to have to do something pretty spectacular to even appear on the Red Army's radar. With Lee Miller due for a suspension period soon, surely this must be his chance to stake a claim as a decent backup striker to Miller and Mackie. Come on, Wrightey, give us something to cheer about before you become someone to jeer about!

Norrie McCathy (a Pars player fae the 80s) died of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Lads, can you calm down on the gas references. Dinnae really want a defamation lawsuit landing on oor doorstep!

Alright. Maybe not. But the thought is definitely there with just about every ned I see

Well said loon. I was about to slate them, then I read your post and it made me think "hang on, I'm one of those folkies who loves to sing the most vile and hated Aberdeen songs whilst walking alone down Princes Street at 3am on a Saturday night". So I suppose waving Aberdeen flags at an Aberdeen match is not really cause for concern, to be perfectly honest. And if it helps Pittodrie to lose the "morgue" status that it has held for years, then I'm all for them doing whatever is needed.

They're a bunch of neds! Neds are one of the primary reasons that made me decide to leave the UK. Many young footballers are just neds with jobs.

Scorers of that game? Duff, Diamond (x2) and McDonald. What no strikers scoring?! So not being to Pittodrie in three years completely nullifies any argument I have about the way the game of football should be played? Whilst there is no doubt that Miller adds another dimension to our attack with his buildup play, I would rather have Miller sitting up the park doing fuckall if it meant he was putting the ball in the back of the net more often than he is. Lets face it, all the buildup play in the world means fuckall if you don't have someone at the end of it to put the ball in the net. I don't need to see Aberdeen play to understand this crucial part of the game of football. If I remember rightly, Stavrum was hardly the most gifted "player" to pull on the red of Aberdeen. But WOW did he know how to hit the back of the net. Head, foot, knee, arse ... sometimes Stavrum didn't even know which part of his body was putting the ball in the back of the net. All he knew was that the ball WAS in the back of the net. That's something our current crop of strikers (Miller included, if you think about the past month and a half) have sadly failed to realise.

As entertaining as these soccer skool videos are, I know for a fact that I would fuckin hate to meet any of these irritating kids out on the town. As calm as I am on nights out, I don't think I would be able to hold myself back from lamping one of these kids. That's how fuckin annoying they are.

Judging by the reaction of the Aberdeen fans at Tannadice in November 2002, you were in a minority with your standpoint on Skovdahl.

Reckon we'll take the points against Killie and Helen. At best a draw against Hamilton. Just to clarify ... what's the deal with 4th place? I read somewhere that 4th place will be good enough to get into the Europa League, albeit at a very early stage that'll see our players have a 2 week break for summer. Am I reading right?

Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror (ooooooh another doublepointer for the Reekster, yeehaw!)
-
That was my point! The rest of the players should be there to supply the buildup work. But if there's no player there that you can rely on to put those opportunities away, then all that buildup work is for nothing ... hence why we get so pissed off at Mackie and Maguire ... and now Miller! No goals in over a month is not exactly what you'd expect from "Scotland's on-form striker".

Don't agree with that. He was not the best defender to wear the red of Aberdeen, granted! But he was probably the best defender we had at the club at the time. Beside him were an up-and-coming Russell Anderson who struggled to get back into his stride in the 01/02 season following a year out with a leg-break, Kevin Rutkiepish who was .... pish, Phil McGuire who was consistent but nothing fancy, McNaughton who was more cold than hot, and Solberg who was an extreme liability. Of that bunch, Whyte was probably the best.
