I thought "ooh five caps for Scotland". But then again, look at how many caps Darren Jackson got for Scotland. Scotland caps mean fuckall these days, especially since Stockdale got them during Berti's reign
-
He's finally learned to shut his face about who MIGHT be at Aberdeen, not to mention how much money he has to play with. This is getting to become quite an exciting summer of transfer rumours for us! The starting 11 come the beginning of August is going to be interesting. Will we recognise the new Aberdeen?

Do Tranmere pay well? I wouldn't have thought so. I certainly wouldn't have thought they'd pay as much as a top-six SPL side. I think any pay increase would lure someone like Stockdale north of the border. The chance to play in Scotland would be a big lure too, if he's hoping to get back into the Scotland International setup.

http://www.tranmererovers-mad.co.uk/news/loadfeat.asp?cid=EDW1&id=390471 Rumours are today circulating in the local press that Tranmere Rovers right-back Robbie Stockdale could be set to leave the club in the summer to join Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen on a free-transfer. The former Middlesbrough player, who has won five caps for Scotland, joined Tranmere on a two-year contract in July 2006 and it is believed that he may well join Aberdeen, currently sixth in the SPL, when that deal expires. 28-year old Stockdale has played an impressive 87 games for Tranmere since joining the club, with only two appearances from the bench, and many he would say he has been mainly solid during his time at the club. A player who times his tackle often to perfection, Stockdale does sometimes get exposed for his lack of pace but that excellent tackling ability often gets him out of this problem, but he is still to get a goal in a Tranmere shirt. Should the player leave in the summer, this may well pave to way for youngster Danny Holmes to make his debut, with the player having thoroughly impressed not only in the reserves over the past fews years but also during a two-month loan spell at Southport at the start of 2008. It is believed that Stockdale, along with most of the other out of contract players at Tranmere this summer has been offered a new deal with the club.

Agreed! The Coca Cola semifinal was all about Eoin Jess. But anyone not watching Jess would've seen that it was Bernard who was the best player on the pitch by a mile!!! Did a power of work whilst Jess did his keepy-uppies. Also mind a game against Hearts that was supposed to be Colin Cameron's comeback game, and the press were bleating on about how "Mickey" was going to destroy Aberdeen on his first game back after lengthy injury. Hearts didn't think of the fact that it was also Bernard's first game back after injury. Bernard pretty much ran the show! Cameron might as well not have played that game, he was that ineffective

3rd place - lets play with some optimism for a week ?

Is Severin an Austrian name? -
I would normally agree with this. But anybody who's been an Aberdeen fan for the past ten years or so knows EXACTLY what Darren Young is capable of. If seven years wasn't enough time for Darren to show us what he was capable of, what the hell is he going to have done to improve himself in four years at Dunfermline???

Anderson moving permanently to Plymouth ?

Haha! Always knew Zig would win this argument, hehe. Didn't you get a personal invite to Mrs Anderson's leaving party? -

You and Scott Severin are the only members of the "Severin Lovers Club". -
True. But I wonder if we can "do an Old Firm" and contest this decision so that the suspension gets delayed until we've gone past these forthcoming important matches.
-
Aye, but Ricky Foster scored against Copenhagen. Don't see any clubs lining up to sign him!! Duff nearly scored against Hibernian. Unfortunately, I don't see anybody lining up to sign him. Ryan Strachan wins the most prestigious monthly prize that a Scottish youth footballer can win ... and we bin him

Oof! That's a toughie!! At least we've finished all our games against Ra Shellick ... the Old Worm side that we've had the least luck against in recent years. Against Celtic, we seem to fluke wins now and then. Against Rangers, most of our recent wins have been well deserved!!! I still think the United game is going to be the "all or nothing" game for our season. Win it, and we can still live in hope. Lose it and that's the season finished. -
Anderson moving permanently to Plymouth ?

I mind when his leg got crocked and he was out for a good season. It took Anderson a LONG time to return to full fitness. But once he was up to full fitness he was pretty damn immense for us. I think Plymouth fans will be pleasantly surprised by how much Anderson improves once he's got a run of games under his belt. Although part of me hopes that he doesn't improve, so that we can take him back here on a free -

I think this sums it up for me really. To get to the last 32 of Europe's top CUP competition (the CL is a league, hehe!), not to mention the semi final of BOTH national cups. The Aberdeen players owe it to us to fight on until we either get third place, or another result from another fixture (ie NOT an Aberdeen game) makes it mathmatically impossible for us to get 3rd place. Like has been said before, if the Old Firm play to their potential then we are in with a chance. The fact that the league has not been decided yet will work in our favour, because the bigot brothers will be going all out to make sure they are not the side to slip up. And the onus is on Motherwell to actually get something out of those games-in-hand that they have. I am quietly confident that we can get good results from the Motherwell and Rangers games. It's the United game that worries me. Those pikey arab bastards have well and truly screwed us this season, and I think they will do it again. -
Anderson moving permanently to Plymouth ?

Plymouth?? Yes, Russell will love it for the reason that he is seeing regular first-team football (he's not seen that since leaving Pittodrie). But I doubt his missus is going to settle there easily. She's an Aberdeen lass through and through, and I'm quite surprised she's survived this long so far. Perhaps Sunderland ain't that far away from Scotland has something to do with it. But Plymouth??? And seeing that cunt Chris Clark again??? He alone will drive the Andersons back north of the border. And if he comes back over the border, there's only one club he will ever sign for. -
I disagree. Derek was the more committed player. Sure, Darren had the skill, but he very rarely used it. He was made to look better than he was because Roberto Bisconti was basically nursing Darren through the Aberdeen midfield. When Bisconti stopped playing for us, Darren was found out for the shite that we knew he always was. And when the chips were down, he "did a Severin" and started blaming others. At least Derek keeps his head up when the shit is hitting the fan. He always seems to try his best regardless of how shite everyone else is doing at the time. The only contract I will be happy to see Darren sign is one that says "I hereby agree to never set foot in Aberdeen again".

Tonights EE: Jimmy Lay off the local heroes
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
The difference between us and Dunfermline, Jimmy, is we don't put up with shite "just because they're local loons". We'll happily sign our worst enemies if we knew they were going to enhance our squad. Fact of the matter is Mair and Duff degrade our squad, rather than enhance it in any way. -
Yep. Good idea. I know it's possible to do as well. Just gotta figure out how to do it
-
Haha. This would actually reverse the request from last summer's close-season alterations. Last year, we had the suggestion to only quote a single message, instead of quoting what everybody had said previously. This came about because some messages were becoming absolutely huge in their size purely because of the amount of quotes of quotes of quotes of quotes that showed before the actual message
-
I know how to score goals. Doesn't mean that I CAN score goals! Same principle applies to Duff, Jimmy!
-
I added them the day they were announced! You might want to do a internet cache refresh on your computer

Eddie Turnbull did a mass clearout of a very established squad when he arrived. This succeeded in weeding out a sense of comfort and happy-with-mediocrity at Pittodrie, and started the path that eventually led to giving Alex Ferguson the basis of a squad with which to build his championship side. Question is ... will Calderwood bite the bullet and get rid of the likes of Mair, Foster, Mackie and Duff?
-
Based on the default theme, but it's all our own CSS.

I know we seem to bring this topic up every close-season. But what would people like to see on DonsTalk? Is there something that needs improving? Something that needs changing? Should we stop doing something? Should we start doing something? Should we leave things the way they are? Have your say here, and you might just see your idea appearing next season.
