Ebbe interview in Scotland on Sunday
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
That was half a decade before the 2-2 huns match ... as I said! I speak of the tightening of the pursestrings following the collapse of the SPL TV deal (infact pretty much every TV deal) which lead to us running on pennies. Ebbe was forced to let go of so so many decent players that had taken us into Europe on merit. If the sort of budget that JC has had to play with was available to Ebbe in his final season with us, I've no doubt he would've done AT LEAST as good a job as JC I really beg to differ. It took a long long time for Ebbe to hault the alarming fall from grace that was instigated by Messrs Aitken and Miller. Four years of ripping the very heart out of Aberdeen FC both financially, pride, heart, and any form of decency. It took two years for Ebbe to hault this freefall, and another year to bring us back up to anything like respectable. Remember, in his final season we gained access to Europe because of our league position! It's not Ebbe's fault that the board didn't do anything to keep ahold of the very same players who got Ebbe's side into Europe. His hands were very much tied. -
Aye it doesnae exist. That's cos the Dons havenae had anybody who can "chip 'eh keeper" since ... since .... since ............................. Jamie Buchan chipped Andy Goram??!!! Was that seriously the last time we successfully chipped the keeper?

Ebbe interview in Scotland on Sunday

Aye. I was workin. My workmate who used to run the Livi rivals website texted me on the half hour mark to say "FOUR ZERO!!!". I thought it was awesome that Zerouali had finally found his scoring boots again and had knocked four goals past the Livitories. But oh how I was wrong!!! Didn't Derek Whyte lamp a Dons fan outside Pittodrie? -
I'll have a shot at expanding the size of it when I get home today. At work, I don't have access to any of the php files so can't alter anything

Ebbe interview in Scotland on Sunday

Firstly, we PLAYED Livi five times in one season. But we never lost to them five times. We lost to them three times in nine meetings during Skovdahl's tenure: Scottish League Cup Aberdeen 1-0 Livingston 17-08-1999 Scottish FA Cup Livingston 0-0 Aberdeen 17-02-2001 Scottish FA Cup Aberdeen 0-1 Livingston 06-03-2001 Scottish League Cup Aberdeen 1-6 Livingston 09-10-2001 Scottish Premier Aberdeen 0-3 Livingston 02-01-2002 Scottish FA Cup Aberdeen 2-0 Livingston 26-01-2002 Scottish Premier Livingston 0-0 Aberdeen 23-03-2002 Scottish Premier Aberdeen 3-0 Livingston 20-04-2002 Scottish Premier Livingston 1-2 Aberdeen 22-09-2002 Admittedly we faired horrendously against Celtic during his time, with 22-12-01 being an exception. But we managed good results against every other club. Our 2-2 draw with the huns was the biggest bounce Pittodrie had seen for half a decade! And the Dodds-Winters transfer was well before Ebbe time. This was the work of Alex Miller, some ten months before Skovdahl got the Pittodrie job. I actually thought Winters was a quality acquisition for us. Just a shame Dodds had to go the other way, because a Dodds/Winters striking partnership would've been worth paying to see! -

Loved that man! He was legendary (there's another debate). I had a number of chats with him at various evenings around the country, and he's an absolute gentleman with a brilliant sense of humour. I don't like the idea that it was his team that took seven games to score and nine games to win. I put that down to taking nine games to hault the freefall that Alex Miller started at Aberdeen. I think with the budget that JC has had to play with, Skovdahl could've done something really spectacular with the Dons. At least he played players in their most effective positions! When he bought a central midfielder, he played in in central midfield! He didn't shove them out on the wing or shove them in defence. I don't care what others say. Ebbe has a special place in my memories of Aberdeen Football Club. -
JC's tactics are just plain stupid! He cannot expect fancy Dutch tactics to work in the unskilled SPL where every player lives eats and breathes 4-4-2 from the age of four. Mind the game a couple of years ago at Ibrox. We were 1-0 down, and had gone into half time on the ascendency. Five minutes into the second half, and clearly nae happy with us gradually working our way back into the match, JC goes and changes us from 4-4-2 to one of his fabulous makebelieve formations. The huns spot this change happening and hit us with three goals in the space of about ten minutes. Does JC not see that these strange formations and playing players in unfamiliar positions are doing us more damage than good? Surely as Director Of Football, Willie Miller should be pointing this out to JC and saying "stick to what works, Jimmy!".

Why would ye dress up as a clown when it's Christmas? A bit like dressin up as a fairy for halloween!

Hmmmm. Dunno. Don't really think there's much difference between the quick reply and the normal posting page these day, tbh! Basically you can do almost everything on the QuickReply that you can do on the full-on post page.

One thing that just awes me about this game every time i see it is just the attacking nature of the Dons. Every move is on the attack. In the leadup to McGhee's second goal, I counted EIGHT Aberdeen players all standing on the verge of offside! None of this patient buildup shit that we see today. Fergie's Dons never ever gave the opposition a moment to catch their breath.

It places the message you want to quote straight into the quickreply box. If yours doesnae work, then you might need to clear your cookies and temp i'net files

Hicham Zerouali - Aberdeen FC Ultras
Reekie_Red replied to Dandy_Don's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Had this vid on my Bebo for a few months now. He's a legend wi' the Dons fans ... despite not actually doing very much apart fae ripping Inverness and St Mirren new arseholes, flipping the bird tae the Danish refs and flippin himsel every time he scored ... which wasnae that much TBH. Had the makings of one of the true SPL greats, if only he had the mentality to turn his magic on more than twice per season. -
In recent memory ... Zero's freekick fae about 6 or 7 years ago, the carbon-copy of the one he did at Rugby Park around about the same month. And "thankyou very much for the Del A Mow, thankyou very much, thankyou very very very much". That match was a cracker. I think it was Nicolas Fabiano's last outing in a Dons top. Bisconti was in fine fine form as per usual. Hell, even Patricio Billio had an absolute cracker of a game ... especially when he unleashed the most lethal dipping shot that just about split the Motherwell crossbar fae 30 yards.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I got a photo somewhere of us going past a school on the way to nowhere ... which happened to be where we THOUGHT Farum was. Anyway the photo of the school simply has the word SP?NK in huge letters across the wall. Dinnae ken fit the Danish word "spünk" translates to in English, but Alfrom took a photo of it with the intention of sending it into Viz
-
... and the beerholders? I dinnae mind that. Was that where we nabbed the fancy beerglasses fae? I dinnae mind much about the Farum game ... apart fae the long long lllllllllong walk in the wrong direction before the game ... and us walkin past The School Of Spünk
-
Haha! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaary Brooks. I mind him. That photo ginge has got of us wi' Robbie Winters. I wouldnae mind findin who took that photo. Cos they'll probably have the one of us and Zero all stickin the fingers up to the camera too! Cos that photo was only moments after the Winters photo.

Eh? Jackie Mac inplace of Hart? When do you reckon he's getting off the treatment table? As for Riorden, I wouldn't want him here. He's a jakey prick who's got an attitude the size of Stevie Fulton's gut. Thinks he's bigger than he really is! No thanks. We had Darren Mackie doing that to us a few years ago. He grew up, though, and now realises he ain't such a big fish and Aberdeen ain't such a small pond!

Slyfox. that's the bugger!!!!

And therein lies your answer. The financial sense from a football point of view requires paying punters to be able to reach said stadium. If they cannae reach it, the money ain't gonna magically float fae their pockets into the coffers of said stadium ... or Arena as they are calling it.

Fa wiz the chappie on the auld auld AULD AFC chat (aye, the original ein) who was pretty much always spot on wi' his rumours?
