What would you like to see implemented on DonsTalk?
Reekie_Red replied to Reekie_Red's topic in Support
I think too many bridges have been burned between The Hat and DT users. The Hat was originally the creation of the users who were banned from DT. As such, there's never likely to be a united forum, unless we all ran under one banner but kept each other at arms length. But ... when talking about integration with other AFC sites, I wasn't suggesting we merge with The Hat. I have other plans in mind ........ -
Shocking journalism by The Scotsman
Reekie_Red replied to Reekie_Red's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Exactly, LR. We don't expect to win the UEFA Cup. It'd be nice to, to say the least! But I don't know a single Dons fan who expects us to get past the group stages. If we can get into the group stages and give a half-decent account of ourselves, then I think most of us will be happy. What we would like, however, is a trip to Hampden or two. And to give as good an account of ourselves in the league this term as we did last. If we finish third, we'll be happy! If we finish anything above third, we will be on cloud-nine! But we gave up the idea of being European Big Guns two decades ago. The only people who seem to think we think this is the central belt media ... as this Ewing Grahame reitterates. (BTW what sort of a name is Ewing Grahame? It's like he has a first name for a last name, and a last name for a first! He's just been bitter and twisted from birth because his stoned parents wrote the names in the wrong box at the birth registrar. And now that Livingston FC are shite again, he's got to take his frustrations out on someone else. Easiest target in Scottish football? Aberdeen FC!) -
Yeah, not exactly the sort of things you want to admit. So he admits he's had a lazy summer when he COULD'VE been trying his best to get himself in-shape to win a contract that's a club that's a bit bigger and better than Hamilton Accies. Kind of sets the tone for what he has accepted as his level. And not expecting to start in the first team. Excuse me, Derek. But I'd expect EVERY player at the club to WANT AND EXPECT a place in the starting lineup. If you are not hacked off at not having a place in the starting eleven, then you obviously don't have the fight to challenge those players who are being picked ahead of you. I've got massive respect for Darren Mackie, as he got dropped, and then worked his ass off to get back into first-team contention. He dropped a whole load of bad habits and got his head down and stuck in to bringing his level back up to an acceptable standard. If Young's taking a place on the bench as being "enough". then he is not good enough to be at the club ... again!

Who would've thought even 18 months ago that we'd be happy to tying Foster up on a longer contract? Oh how times change!!
-
Couldnae believe this shite being written by Ewing Grahame of The Scotsman. What an absolute joke! He's talking about all the doom and gloom surrounding the Dons at the moment. What doom and gloom? The only doom and gloom surrounding the Dons at the moment is his imagination. Has this joke of a journalist ever been to Pittodrie? Does he even know how to get to anything that's north of Inverkiething? http://sport.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1181082007

I wouldnae go that far mate. Wiggy's nae greedy. He'd rather the Dons worked their own way out of debt, rather than pumping his own millions in and us expecting him to pump millions in every time we need help. Just nae happy that we've gone and signed Young though. I pin this blame fully on JC, as he's the guy who took Young off our hands in the first place, and he's the guy who took him back. Milne's probably had very very little to do with this deal.
-
GK.... Langfield (because what other choice do we really have?) RB..... McNamara CB.... Hart LB.... Foster RW.... Clark CM.... Nicholson CM.... Severin (JC, don't waste him in defence, please!! He's one of the most effective midfielders we have) LW.... De Visscher CAM... J Smith CF.... Lovell CF.... Miller/ Mackie Bench: Kelly; Diamond (still has to prove himself, tbh); Considine; Mair; Maguire; Brewster; Miller/Mackie (note no place on the bench for Young yet. That boy has to do a HELL of a lot of work to get into my good books)
-
Only player of that generation I'd ever take back is Anderson. Rowson was handy when he was on-form, but the Youngs were part of the poison that was killing our club. I was glad when we saw the back of the pair of them, and couldnae believe my eyes when I read that someone wanted to take BOTH of them off our hands. Fuck, I thought it was Christmas!!! Now we've got one back, I'm living in fear that both will come back. If we need someone who's a character in the dressing room, perhaps we should hire Bobby Ball. Nae this tube!
-
Outrun? Doubt it mate. They'll be making a welcome party for their latest technological arrival ... The Empire Strikes Back arcade game.
-
Cannae fuckin believe this! I was so glad when this tube and his brother were taken out of our hands. So many newspaper articles are saying "he was signed for the Dons partly due to his 100% workrate" and shite like that. Hey, does that mean I can get a contract from the Dons? I'll give them 100% effort and commitment ... doesnae distract from the fact that I'm a shite footballer. Exactly the same with Derek Young. We all know he gave us 100% when he was first here. But his 100% was still about 40% short of the minimum quality we need if we're to challenge at the top half of the league table. This is our worst signing since we signed John Inglis FOR A SECOND TIME!

JC least likely to get the bullet in SPL
Reekie_Red replied to BigAl's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Cannae see Levein getting chucked. He's a pretty bloody good manager if he can get performances out of Tannadice's latest shower of shite. My money is still on either McPherson or Collins. -
It's pretty stupid how players cautioned or sent off in a PRESEASON FRIENDLY get punished in a league that the opposition don't even play in!!!! The Dons should definitely appeal against this, as the ref could've been an amateur who was refereeing his first ever footy game. Nae exactly an ideal start to our biggest season in over a decade!
-
Thank fuck for that!!! He was a plank
-
Clark doesnae bother me. But we could really do without Nicholson being suspended for the first game of the season. ESPECIALLY, as Dundee Red has noted, since he always seems to turn his game on against U-shited.
-
Surely the idea of pre-season tournaments isn't to actually WIN the tournament, but to give the teams participating a chance to play around with tactics and formations. As I said a couple of days ago, I dinnae care if we lost every single game in this tournament. I just hope that these games have given JC and JN enough preparation to be ready for Dundee United.
-
Didnae think players who get suspensions in one competition have to worry about those cautions carrying over to another competition!! Hence, someone can get a red card in the SPL, but play the very next week in the Scottish Cup. These cautions dinnae count against us in the SPL ... unless Clark's suspension is being carried on from the end of last season.
-
suspended? How many cards has he received in the competition so far??
-
Notice Miller's been dropped like a hot potato following his yellow card against Al-Aluminum

THE OFFICIAL: "LET'S ALL LAUGH AT HEARTS"
Reekie_Red replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Football Chat
When was that incident? One of my old mates from Edinburgh (now working at Fingers Piano Bar, where Ebbe can be seen playing the piano) was the barman who invited Russell Latapy and Dwight Yorke into his pub for a lock-in, which infamously resulted in the pair's drink-driving incident about five or six years ago. -
To be honest, I'm not too fussed about these results. Yeah, it'd be nice to win. But if it means sacrificing matches in what is supposed to be our pre-season training to allow JC to tinker with formations, personnel and tactics, then so long as he gets it right when it counts (ie against Dundee Utd) then I'll be happy. Sure it'd be nice to win against these Egyptian teams. But let's remember, they're friendlies that JC is using to tinker.

Al Aluminium 3 Hamada (37, 78), Walid (81) Aberdeen 2 Brewster (47), Foster (66)

Furry boots ye reading this, min? Nothin on the second goal on the AFC website, and nothing on the official tournament website either.
