I'm in the middle of installing new smileys on the site. Don't be alarmed if you see a series of red crosses where the smileys normally are. This should be fixed soon
-
We shifted to red when colour photography technology became readily available. But for the purpose of distinguishing the Dons on press photos in the early years, we played in Black/Gold

Hemin. Is this the new Inverness Reds website or something? I'm suitably impressed with the site! Easily the most media-rich AFC website on the web! Keep up the awesome work, you guys! Yer an invaluable source for all Dons fans all around the globe. I particularly enjoyed grabbing a look at the Denmark photos. Brought back some awesome memories.

Just watched the game highlights again

I still reckon the club would do well to move the away fans to a different stand. Perhaps move them to the Merkland and free up the entire South Stand for the home fans. Biggest problem is the bulk of the vocal fans are situated in the RDS Upper. By the time the noise gets to the pitch, it's all but faded out. And by the time the voices and songs get to the corner of the South Stand, they've all but gone. It's awesome when the South pipes up with a song, as the South and RDS try to mimic each other. But there's too much of a gap between the two, and they end up completely out of time with each other. Shove the away fans in the Merkland, and you've got the two most vocal sections of the home support right next to each other. Crank up the atmosphere at Pittodrie, and you'll soon find opposition teams starting to suffer as a result. -
Well said Armani81. Who gives a flying fuck if he's from Glasgow? Have you seen the number of reds who travel to the games from the Glasgow area??!! HEEEEAPS! I've known a number of Dons fans who've got stick at Pittodrie because of their accent. For fuck's sake, they're standing cheering the Dons ... in the Aberdeen end ... and other Dons fans are giving them stick cos they don't have a doric accent??!!! What the fuck is up with that?? You can't choose where you are born. But you CAN choose who your loyalties lie with. I think that matters a great deal!!

Did you ever see the Red Final sketch about the making of the Northsound away strip (the blue one)? It's priceless. Basically the designer doesn't have a clue who Aberdeen are, so he chooses a random colour ... blue. Then he gets stuck for ideas, so he goes out on the piss. He comes home and is so smashed he spews all over the strip ... and hey presto, the away strip is designed.

That's a very good point indeed. I never noticed that it disappeared. Let me have a look at where it has gone, and I'll try to reinstate it. Won't be able to do it for a day or so as I'm going to see Pirates 3 tonight

Just finished watching the 2-0 game highlights again, only this time full volume. I still cannae get over how loud Pittodrie was when Seve and Lovell's goals went in. Unbelievable. I've never heard an SPL ground sound like that before! If only we could fill Pittodrie more often, it definitely help our cause. The players must've got such a huge lift knowing they had 17000 fans right behind them for the whole match (and before anyone says "but it was a sell-out", I'm taking into consideration that one or two of the 20,000 fans at the game were huns.

Pretty cool site. Interesting to see how the Aberdeen strip has changed over the years. Still reckon the 86/87 kit was the nicest kit ... it was the last decent one before company logos were sprawled over the front of the shirts. But EEWWWWWWWWW, we played in blue originally!!!!!!

Where's the "Aberdeen" option? I see Fulham have apparently thrown their weight into the Anderson equation as they've lost out on their bid to try to sign Hyypia from Liverpool. I don't want Anderson to leave, but if he does leave then I want a bidding war to take place between some Premiership big guns so that we get AS MUCH as possible for him ... none of this "three quid and a broken player of your choosing" that the Old Firm deem acceptable.
-
I'm not sure that he is a defender/midfielder. This Ilford-based article seems to think otherwise: http://www.ilfordrecorder.co.uk/content/r...

Quite worrying that some clubs see Aberdeen as a bargain basement. Perhaps it is for the best that this "unidentified" agent came forward when he did, as now I'd like to think Stewart Milne will not take the first offer that comes along ... unless it's 50million for the whole squad!
-
Aye. He was trying to spell Rob, and ended up spelling RFC
-
And is Kurrant nae a striker? Cannae mind Byrne challenging Ronaldo for that much coveted "best striker" award!
-
Must admit to absolutely definitely being the first ever person to compare Ricky Foster with Rino Gattuso, but ... It took a lot of kicking and screaming from Gattuso to accept that he wasn't an attacking midfielder, and that he'd be best sitting in a defensive role. Dick Advocaat wasn't his favourite person in the world after this move. But hey, he's gone on to realise that he IS a better player when playing in defence. And just yesterday he picked up a Champions League winners medal for his efforts! Who's to say Foster's simply been playing in the wrong position all this time, and that he is at his most effective at Left Back?!!!
-
If this De Visscher chappy is in the wing mould of Stephen Glass circa 1997-98, I'll be a very happy dandy! We've not had a left sided winger since Glass. Infact, I don't think we've had a decent winger on either side since Glass (Jamie Smith aside)
-
I reckon Preece could've had a hugely impressive 'tache. These days, though, I think only Lee Miller would have one ... and even then it would be bum-fluff ... and only when he's wearing his kappa kollection.
-
It's not just this lineup that we can be pretty happy with, it's the fact that the bench will probably regularly look like this: Soutar; Touzani; Diamond; Clark; Miller; Maguire That's a bench full of players that the vast majority of SPL teams would kill to have in their first-choice team!!!!
-
Well, there's no doubt about that! I was gutted when McNaughton moved to Cardiff. But I smile contently when I hear that he's proving to be a quality player for them. It makes other clubs sit up and realise that Scottish players CAN cut it in England. And now we're getting teams like Manure coming in and sniffing around players like Gordon who are valued at 8million. Only thing that irks me is that we seem to be happy with the 1million value that Anderson is being advertised at. I'd take no less than DOUBLE that, and even then I'd have to admit that the club that wins his signature is getting him at a bargain price.
-
Wouldn't go for this deal. We get to borrow one of their kids and nurse him back to full fitness and then give him back at the end of the season, whilst they walk with our second-best defender for pennies! I am not going to stand in the way of our players moving on to get better deals at bigger clubs ... just so long as it's not the Old Firm. Hart would be wasted there. Strachan would play him in CIS Cup matches, and that's all!
-
Basically, we're not allowed to show ANY footage of ANY Aberdeen player or ANY part of Pittodrie. The stadium and the players are all property of the club, and if we have footage of any part of a game on here, the club comes knocking on our doors telling us to take it off. I don't care about any other footage. But footage of the Dons, whether it be TV footage or from your own cellphone is a breach of AFC's copyright. Sorry! I dinnae want the club to have to come down hard on a forum that's dedicated to the Dons. There wasn't any issue regarding this before RedTV came about. But now any video footage is seen as a conflict of interest with RedTV

Aye. But hopefully this new guy can play as part of a team. Hicham was an amazing talent, but he couldn't comprehend the term "involve your teammates". When he got the ball, it was a one-man mission of his to find the net. The SPL's thickest defenders realised this pretty quickly and snuffed him out of the game. Hopefully this Jeff de Visscher guy is more of a team player than Zero was.
-
I cannae believe I'm reading this about Foster!! Last time I was at Pittodrie, Foster was a joke. He was second division material at best!!! What's happened? Has he suddenly become a decent player? Cannae be the quality of players around him making him look good, cos he's still sitting around the same players that were on the field when he was shite. Is he really that good now? Did it just take a wee bit longer than normal for him to mature?
-
Hate to tell you mate, but we've had a Black&Gold away strip twice in the past seven years! I quite like it, being honest. I've never really been a big fan of the all white strips. Too many chances for blue to be incorporated, hehe.

Wannabe? The only wannabe category he fits into is "not being ridiculed for the rest of his life by the entire Tartan Army" for his penalty miss for England in (correct me if I'm wrong) Euro 96
