  1. True Reekie but I was looking more at people the club hired who I don't think earned their pay.
  2. Ye ken Ronnie Barker died in 2005 right?
  3. Knowing the Dons' history of signing goofs, we'll probably end up going for the wrong person and will end up signing Ronnie O'Sullivan or Richard O'Brien Aberdeen Footbal club are proud to announce their latest signing... Ronnie Corbett! Holy Cow! I was going for funny and went to Corbett's Wikipedia page. He's from Edinburgh and had a trial with Hearts! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Corbett
  4. The same Ronnie O'Brien who played AT Juventus and Middlesbrough, but didn't ever actually play a game for them? He may well have been capped at under 18 level, but that was 10 years ago. He doesn't have any full Irish caps. Sorry, but he doesn't inspire me with any sort of confidence and I hope we stay well clear of him. Paul Dalglish will probably make the MLS all star side this season. Simo Valakari has made it in seasons past. No matter how many stars they sign, it will still be a second rate league, with a far lower standard than the SPL. 2nd rate league? by what criteria? from appearances I can say that the Stadia are the same or bigger so Attendances are about equal. I could try to compare salaries but don't have access to numbers; I would guess though that the OF salaries skew the figures. Every MLS team has $1.5 Million US and are allowed 1 player not to be counted in the cap. That would seem to be on par with the average SPL team salary.
  5. That would be the same Ronnie O'Brien who also played at Middlesborough & Juventus. The same Ronnie O'Brien who has been capped for Ireland as a U-18 (the team that won the Euro U-18 Cup), a U-19 and U-21 and Senior Teams. The Same Ronnie O'Brien who has been named to the MLS all-stars & best XI in 2004 & 2005. 2006 saw him suffer a serious injury but I tell you, every game he plays I see him get better.
  6. Signing bonuses are common in pro sport over here. Even with £300K of his transfer out fee going to him the club were still up £500K. How much was his signing bonus? (lol - please say less than £500K)
  7. Here's a thought Talk to Toronto FC about Ronnie O'Brien. He's an Irish Midfielder who plays on the left side and has looked better every time out.
  8. I'd take Balde on the loan. He'd actually fit well into the defensive scheme IMHO.
  9. Just pulled this one off the Yahoo News. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29062007/1/glovers-snap-aberdeen-star.html Not a real surprise though, They were linked to Dempo in January too.
  10. I guess everyone expected more of Hignett than his performance. but an £800 K profit on the transfer market is nothing to sneeze at. What were his wages?
  11. Zero earned his pay. Tiernan never came close. Some would agrue that Langfield has yet to earn his. With Ando gone we definitely need better
  12. Wait a minute Kelt, It took how many years to get that deep? £1000000 is not going to do anything but put us bak 3 years or so. We didn't vanish with it, Leon Mike, Nicholas Fabiano, Steve Paterson et al vanished with it.
  13. Welllll.... Fulham have not re-signed Tomas Radzinski. No transfer fee there. Would probably replace Miller & Brewster with 1 guy. Any takers?
  14. £20 Milloin eh? Well we're not going to make it back in 1 year that's for sure! Assuming we make the Group stage (which IMHO is still possible) for the UEFA Cup, how much can we knock off giving half the TV £££ to the debt?
  15. Bassas dinna ken fit they've got in him. Oh well he'll silence his critics soon enough
  16. I'm thinking Hart or Severin. MacNamara would have to earn it
  17. Byrne should only be a bench player at best
  18. We'll miss him but for when McLeish calls him to the Scotland Squad
  19. 13 Million!!! Ouch
  20. For now I'll make no comment - I opened my big mouth on Ando and he's gone...
  21. God has left our Defense
  22. Hey Reekie! Is that how the Tims are laying claim to being Scotland's BIGGEST Club? Signing anyone and EVERYONE? :lolabove: :lolabove:
  23. Well at least we're all in agreement. Don't sell the farm just because we get offers for players. Get rid or debt by earning our way in Europe.
  24. The Old story about time healing all wounds is probably going to see Langfield back. Just my gut feeling until I see the club has outright released him or transferred him. Let's not worry about Esson
  25. Oh buy! And I am 2 weeks away from taking the Canadian equivalent... Our levels are supposed to be in tune with age of playes and such but I started at a point when the system was being adopted. It used to be based on the competition level. Used to be that if all you were going to do was coach your kids (even if they were 16) in a recreational league, they suggested you take level 1. If you were going to coach the all-star team from that league in a few tournaments, you had to have level 1 or be registered to take it in the next session and again it was strongly suggested you have level 2. If you were coaching competitive teams you had to have a minimum of level 3. Next step was a provincial "B" License required to coach Semi Pro or be a Technical Director of a club. Last step is a National "A" License - FIFA certificate. Now it's better suited by age but has more steps. Youth 1Target age group is Under 91 day Course - 4 hours in class & 4 hours on the fieldYouth 2Target age group is U9 to U13Still a 1 day course with the same hoursSeniorAnything U14 and Up - Still the requirement if you are going to coach Competitive teams2 Day course - 8 hours in class & 8 on the pitchPre-B AssessmentThay found there needed to be a between step to the Provincial "B" Licence - too much new material4 day course - 2 weekends - 2 Days in class 1 on the pitch & culminating in a mock exam on the same sheets as the "B" LicenseProvincial "B" LicenseSame materials as the Pre-B5 Days in residence culminating with the same exam only the examiner is no longer beside you but off the fieldNational "A" or FIFA LicenseRequired if you want to be a Professional coach2 Year Process that I'll look at once I get closer LOL
