Armed Forces to get Free Tickets at Pittodrie

Teacher = Holiday camp entertainer -
Aluko is our own faddy
-
langfield + pressure = watching from behind the couch I know he's our keeper but I really hope they don't throw him in at the deep end.

call me a cynic, but we're not exactly swimming in offers for any of our " big names ". Miller and Zander aside, I couldn't give a flying toss who left if we got cash to help the squad. No one else on decent money has been a stand out for us. If they were they'd have gone already or at least have generated interest in themselves. We've been mediocre with these guys Hart. Anderson, clark and all the nostalgic pish included, so if the gaffer wants to punt some and change our style what's the worst that can happen? more disappointment like the last 20 years or so. As I've stated before I was for Newell not McGhee but I think there is a clear need for a shake up at pittodrie and he can do whatever the hell he wants to if it helps break our mediocrity in the mid to long term. He knows he'll never win anything with the core of our team as it is so lets give the fella a bit of time.

seriously this time, This town ain't big enough for the both of us by Sparks those ultra chappy's would lap it up, voice a bit high though

Dire Straits, money for nothing

I think this thread is a tad hasty, No one can defend the result and I was all for Mike Newell but to be fair I don't think McGhee's done a lot wrong. He put faith in Mackie and Miller up front, realised this was a bloody stupid idea and pulled Mackie, I'd imagine he'll struggle for the first 11 now. Lets face it JC would have pulled miller and put on someone randomly to confuse us. Aluko also strutted around as though he'd made it doing piss all to help the team, again spot on to change him. The real problem was lack of depth, shown by the bench. The back 4 whilst inept were probably the only volunteers from the squad. Consi had a bad game but he was trying to organise the other 3 as well. Kerr is never a skipper, not vocal enough and when he got the ball looked for the pass back instead of driving forward and spurring the team on. A tidy footballer but not an inspiration. In conclusion, we need our 2 CB's fit, a new full back or 2 ( ricky did well at LB IMO ) and a proper striker. Mulgrew should stay LB as his control was crap on thursday and showed he's not up to midfield. I suppose you could say McGhee should have sorted these positions already but he's tried to put faith in a team who can't be trusted on big nights and this really is his only but MASSIVE error. p.s Was I the only one that thinks Clangers really failed to marshall the defence and dropped us in it a couple of times by sticking to his line when it was obviously his ball. Made some good saves in game but really needs to tidy up the bread and butter stuff. Still a bombscare, was like tynecastle v's utd all over for 1st half

there was free flowing attacking football, sadly it was from the other side usually

McGhee's Comments ahead of Pre-Season Trip
redordead replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
yes we do need a midfielder, but it's a combatitive midfielder we're screaming out for not a lanky Stephen Hughes. I don't really care if the midfielder we bring in has any real talent so long as he's a ball winner and determined to give 100 % not things Hughes was reknowned for. -
bit of a hike on a saturday ( after golf ), will try to tie work in with midweek games but not worth the season ticket for the few home games I'd get to. Should catch a lot of the away games with the boy. Will do a couple of corp days with work to ensure club get their cash . That and the £58 kids kit x2, I know we're skint but no need to fleece the kids. No puns intended. Where are our less well off fans supposed to find the cash to kit out their kids, who probably buy chelsea kits from sport soccer and follow the prem instead.

McGhee's Comments ahead of Pre-Season Trip
redordead replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
this is good news, between this and the other post it seems he knows what we really need. ( centre half and striker ). Hughes out of the picture now means we can look seriously with some wages freed up to get in the quality required. I also think Maclean could be the striker required if he is proven to be fit. Just a big fella for the back and we're good to go for europe -
job's a goodun

P&J: McGhee in move for ex-Rangers forward
redordead replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
A pleasant surprise, could be just the ticket -
Are we really waiting for Stephen Hughes before we do anything else?, the silence is deafening. I'd have thought as we ," possibly " tapped McGhee he might have been planning ahead. Having a bit of an anti-climax over the last week or two. Could someone at Pittodrie do something soon before I die of apathy!! I can't be the only one bored rigid surely?

Transfer targets and a re-signing Jamie Smith?
redordead replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Hamann released by city, how good would he be as our lynchpin in midfield. Maybe he's made so much cash he'd come for the enjoyment of weekly action. -

no need to worry, Smith's signed for Brighton -
was a very promising player at utd, I thought he left them for better things, thought he'd gone abroad before england. Maybe failed to settle, in which case a move to us might well do the trick, or possibly he got a lot worse. I think he'd be a decent option and let mulgrew move up the park.

gonna buy the boys one each tomorrow when in city, they love it!!

was finally bored enough to look through the site. not much of note except the following: Marlon Broomes, may be in budget and a fine defender with presence Chris Doig, Scottish so may like a move north, also been around championship for a while. fitness questionable ( no vogts cap though ) Sean Gregan, great player but at 34 probably not looking to uproot up front: Michael bridges, fallen far ( maybe our budget far ) what a player he was Leroy Lita ( maybe not our budget far ) but probably short of options Vassell ( what a coup that'd be )might have to chip in for wages
-
good luck to him, he's earned his payday after 5 years. Never a huge fan but never been less than decent for us. Hopefully this pushes us to get in a proper centre half to command things now the cover has gone and we apparently want another footballing midfielder. All the best

Gilhaus for me the most memorable, of recent times the stewart effort at Parkhead sticks out for the pace, clinical finish and his dad nearly landing on me. It's rare we get what we deserve after an OF comeback. p.s now lives down the road from me and see him down the boozer now and again, what a waste of promising talent.

I's like to see McDonald as skipper, everything good last season happened when he was involved. He seems to make things happen and have a hunger. This makes him the best man to inspire his buddies IMO. If not him I'd have zander but I'd prefer skipper in the middle. He's what we want to see in our team and seems to be very mature for our squad.
