Seems to be some suspicion on caley's part that Tansey was tapped up as we knew the release clause figure... I'm in two minds, Goodwillie obviously has talent but hasn't done it for us and looks completely devoid of any confidence. But we do know what we are getting from him. We don't know what Church will bring us but that could just as well be a positive thing than a negative thing... Guess we will see!
-
Couple of people on Twitter and someone on the hat that seems clued up (well for the hat...) saying Tansey has asked the sfa to get involved. Apparently still a target on a pre contract regardless of what happens with Tansey. Suspect the intention is to replace flood and Robson with Tansey and brannigan.
-
Jim Spence tweeting that the Tansey deal is off. Disappointing if true.
-
Only seems to have signed for them at the start of the season... 10 goals in 63 games for Charlton before then.
-
Oh... Promising sign then!
-
Who's this Simon Church character and how long until we can write him off as pish?
-
I have a feeling you're right. They'll just be playing hard ball with how the money is paid that's all.
-
Hmm fair enough, I took solid midfielder as being more defensive minded but if Tansey is being brought in to compliment Jack whilst playing McLean further forward then that's fine by me too!
-
The more I think about it the more I like the thought of this signing. If he can add a bit of grit to our midfield and ensure we keep the ball a bit then I'm all for it. Based on what my Caley supporting mate told me earlier he's a "solid central midfielder with a lethal right foot".
-
You could well be right there, I was only looking at it from the perspective that he's a top coach who would bring a more exciting attacking style of play which seems to be what the man united fans are crying out for, I've no idea how he'd get on gutting the current squad and building his effectively from scratch.
-
No it's not, but seeing as other posters may have knowledge of the guy it's not an unreasonable question is it?

I'm sure there's fuck all chance of St Johnstone ever seeing the full amount. -
You've got to think that Man United have fucked up big time not moving for Pep, would have been the ideal candidate to recover from the past couple of years.

Seems O'Halloran to the huns is back on. Disappointing if true... -
Is it though? Again I've not seen much of him so I've no idea if he's any good or not. I've asked a Caley supporting mate for his opinion but he's still so gutted about Shinnie leaving that he's probably not going to reply *edit* - He's just replied and he's raging which is a promising sign. Seems to think he's a "great player" although that is coming from a Caley fan so that probably means he's a solid addition for us... I'm all for strengthening the team but I'd not be too keen on McInnes signing folk just for the sake of it. If his main targets arent available until the summer than I'd not have a huge problem with playing the kids until then.

Was just about to post the same thing... can't say i know too much about him, but the rest of our signings from Caley haven't worked out too badly.

It's a shocking situation and the editor of the herald should be ashamed of himself. I'd say the board at rangers should be too but we all know they won't be. -
Fair enough that's your opinion, I agree to an extent but still think people are over egging how good he was/is. I'm not sure why being Welsh or a Liverpool player would be a reason to put him down though...
-
That's not up for debate, he is an improvement on what we've had lately, although in my opinion he's not as big an improvement as some would have you believe. Also, just because he's better than what we had previously doesn't mean he was any more than adequate.
-
Except he didn't though did he?... Right up until his last game he was making the same mistakes. Don't get me wrong he was a decent keeper, and young enough to develop but I really don't think he was good enough to justify the hype he got. He will be missed but not to the extent some people think. And shite doesn't even begin to describe that song!

Ah I'd totally forgotten about May, fair enough it was disappointing to miss out on him. I've been told Andrew Shinnie wasn't a top target though, shame as I think he would be a decent addition. I'd question whether the squad has deteriorated all that much though... we're minus ward admittedly, but I honestly don't think he was anything more than adequate. Time will tell if we notice much of a drop in quality now Brown/Collin are battling it out for the gloves. Apart from that we've lost Quinn who was used very sparingly, I'm sure one of the young centre halves could be just as useful given how much game time he got. (Hasnt McKenna been mooted as a candidate for stepping up, sure his load spell is up soon?) We've also had a fit again Storie introduced into the first team squad to good effect which is an added option in midfield. One good quality signing and I'd argue we're equally good if not slightly stronger than before the window, I certainly wouldnt say its all doom and gloom.
-
I'm pretty curious about who we missed out on in the summer, can't really remember being linked with anyone particularly exciting that we missed out on?
-
Lost the first set, hardly a disaster seeing as he's done that 3 times and still made the final of the Australian open... he still needs to get some momentum going quickly though.
-
I'm sure I read on Twitter than Andrew Shinnie is due to go on load to Rotherham in the next couple of days, would have been an interesting loan signing but maybe McInnes has something else up his sleeve.
-
I see Hearts have had a bid for John Souttar of Dundee United rejected. Seems like a decent young centre half/defensive midfielder, also being tracked by Celtic... possibly worth enquiring about given he could fill one of two needs for us? (centre half cover or tough tackling midfielder) Saying that I cant remember him standing out too much any time I've seen us play Dundee United.
