Whilst they're undoubtedly improving and going in the right direction I think it's premature to declare them genuine contenders. They had the easiest world cup group and draw in history and they still fucked it. Lost both their games against the only world class opponents that they played. 10 goals in the last 2 games is good but a team like England will be judged on their performances against elites like Germany, France, Spain and Brazil in competitive tournaments. The jury's out for me. Infinitely better than Scotland obviously.

It was a sore one. Especially since I think Holland were the better team. Certainly kept Neuer busy (as you'd maybe expect for a Holland team playing at home.) Germany started quickly but as soon as they went two up Holland became the better team for the remainder of the game and were unlucky not to go in at half time with reduced or even no arrears. Babbel lacking a little bit of quality in front of goal. Going for the late winner in the way that they did (and probably have to do at home) left them open at the back and they paid the price. A very disappointing night all things considered. Although I do feel that Dutch football has improved vastly from the previous two qualifying campaigns. A young team with some real quality who I'm sure will only improve. Memphis may be an obnoxious bell end but by fuck he's exciting to watch on the football pitch. Just like Arjen Robben.

Our fans being arseholes is nothing new. I've been finding them particularly hard to deal with this season especially at home although I had my recent visit to Celtic Park ruined by the two brain dead fucking mongs behind me who spent the whole game berating young McLennan in particular. The game itself was somewhat hard work but having those two in my ear the whole game made it pure torture. The cunt could do no right. If he held on to it he was being screamed at to pass it and if he passed it he was being screamed at to hold on to it. Watching any product (even if it's amazing which is isn't) with audible idiots is fucking hard work. Whether it's better or worse now than in the 80s I have no idea. I wish folk would turn up and support the team. There's a difference between support and happy clapping. Turning up and not screaming at or berating our own players shouldn't be hard but apparently it is. It does us no favours and IMO it only has a negative effect on the players. I remember one of our players scoring a goal (earlier this season I think) and signalling the GIRFUY to our fans. I can't remember who it was but the fans deserved it.

Agreed Jute. I made a sharp exit from the stands at full time on Saturday. Not that I wouldn't have taken a draw before the game because I probably would. The first half was shite. The second half slightly better but I didn't feel comfortable happy clapping the team off the park after a famous 0-0 at the Giro Dome. Not the worst result in the world by any means but we could have had more.

You're not missing anything. It's a blatant and shameless attempt at deflection and to defame one of the few top level clubs in this country who could hardly be further away from the sectarian pish we always hear about. At the last few home games in particular my enjoyment has been severely diminished by a combination of lacklustre results and aforementioned wankers sitting in close proximity. We're all aware of the general rule of thumb which states that you're never more than 6 feet away from a fucking bell-end at a football match but it's been particularly bad as the recent poor home run has gone on. So which part is it that you disagree with? Do you not think that negativity coming from the stands can have an adverse effect? Do you think that a good backing can have a positive effect? You said it's not worth arguing because I don't understand and then you almost back up my point by confirming what we already know that "many football fans are fucking idiots". You got your dig in about how I'm a small man but I'm unclear as to what it is that you disagree with? I don't disbelieve that you were told that and I don't disbelieve that he believed what he was telling you himself. I'm nae calling anyone a liar or anything. I just don't believe that Scots were "100% behind the English" in a football tournament and I don't really buy that the wars had any real impact on support levels or that the 2014 failure of the Scottish electorate backs up the claim in any way. I have no doubt that some may have supported England but that number would've been a long way from 100%. I'd be surprised if it was above 50%. Many of the no voting cunts that I have the misfortune of seeing on Twitter were the same folk that give it "Anyone but England!" during a football tournament. The Pensioners voted No because they were told they'd lose their pensions. Not because they felt a togetherness with England or the rest of the UK.

My old man has battled alcoholism for much of his adult life. Lived his days as a sailor long before the days of dry ships and regularly put away a shit load of booze. Hasn't touched a drop since the early 2000s. He claims he doesn't find it difficult but I think he does. At the age of 85 and in seemingly excellent health it seems that his actions came just in time to avoid long term effects. It's never too late! I drink very little myself. Next to nothing in fact. Same with drugs. The issues that my family have had with these just fucking put me off tbh. The quality of American medical care is up there with the highest in the world. If you can afford to pay for it that is. You're nae having to sell your hoose to fund this are you? I assume you're no longer covered under any plan you had through your job? You don't have to answer any of these questions obviously. Just curious as to how this is funded in the good old US of A. Wish you all the best in yer recovery.
