  1. But as manager I've already decided that we're not dropping anyone.
  2. I hope you're right but with all these new deals getting handed out we must be at our maximum budget surely? I thought we were before and I highly doubt those new deals wouldn't have included pay rises. So I'd be surprised if we made signings this month unless players leave to vacate wages.
  3. To answer the question; Yes we can. but I don't think we will. The financial gulf is just too big. Celtic have this month to sign players and talk about signing ours to unsettle them. They have money to throw at the problem. We're unlikely to strengthen at all which I think we'd need to mount a lasting challenge.
  4. I agree that their McGinn and McLean are decent players but I don't believe they warrant wholesale changes to our own lineup. If last weekend's 11 are fit I'd stick with them.
  5. As previously instructed I'm going to ignore this post on account of the time at which it was posted and I'll assume you were inebriated. I don't have a problem with him watching Celtic. I would like to see our players celebrate more when we score against Celtic though. Even Hayes seemed reluctant.
  6. This'll be a rare away game appearance for me so I apologise in advance for jinxing it. It's another massive game as they all are when you're trying to keep pressure up at the top of the league. St. Mirren have been poor this season and complacency is what I fear although I trust DM McInnes to now allow the players to become complacent. Going for another 2-0 win for us with Rooney and Goodwillie getting on the scoresheet.
  7. He went into a bit of a huff the other week against Killie when he got subbed off. He's far from the finished article. He's got improvements he needs to make, undoubtedly. But he has the most potential out of anyone in our squad (although Jack and Shankland probably come close) and I don't see how any Dons fan wouldn't want him signed up. His attitude has to be managed (although I don't see it as anything more than a minor issue at worst right now). We've got the right man to manage his attitude in charge and I'm sure given time he'll find the net more often.
  8. No idea what you're basing that on. He's still surprising me almost weekly with how good he still is. Finishing, passing, energy, vision, command, all still there. Covered every blade of grass in the cup tie last night. Maybe he can't do that every week anymore but if he does that 75% of the time he's still a huge player for Liverpool. He was the difference last night. I can understand why he'd leave if he's getting a 4 year deal over in LA as opposed to a 1 year deal at Liverpool. And there's absolutely no chance of him signing for Man City (or anyone else in England)
  9. Motherwell were absolutely hopeless. The last time we played a team as bad as that they came from Riga. We should have had the game done by half time. Become a bit more clinical in front of goal and then I might start to genuinely believe that we're title contenders. Great win though. Another massive game on Saturday.
  10. I'd be absolutely delighted if he signed a contract extension. I think he's getting better with every game. He's always a threat and his assists are mounting up and he's chipping in with a goal here and there too. Obviously I'd like to see him score more but his ability to bring others into play and his touch are superb. He can obviously play football and we need players like that at Pittodrie.
  11. When Wenger says a draw is a fair result you can bet your bottom dollar that Arsenal deserved to lose! And they did. Liverpool easily the better team but again their own worst enemy defensively. As a man who likes to see Liverpool do well I can honestly say that I'm not, as you put it, squirming at the rapid decline of the team. Yes it's been very different to last season but the last 2 games against Man Utd and Arsenal Liverpool created a lot and played pretty well and it's encouraging to see. They played really well against Bournemouth too by all accounts (who, let's face it, are no mugs.) I really think Liverpool are just a fit (decent) striker away from being a force again and that's without sorting out the defence. Any team that loses Suarez and Sturridge is going to struggle and I feel for Brendan Rodgers a bit. He's still trying to play his own style of attractive football (which has been a breath of fresh air from how they played under Rafa and Dalgleish)
  12. A scientific poll held in the pub on Saturday prior to the game it was decided that spitting is worse than biting. 2 game ban? #JusticeForLuis
  13. Don't understand why they stuck their necks out for a shite player.
  14. I had Hayes as MOTM the match but TBH be honest there were at least 3 Dons worthy of it. Taylor was really good again and obviously Jack also. Was a little disappointed that we made it such hard work. We did have the chances to have the game won long before the nervy ending that we got. I was really pleased with Goodwillie again. Agree with Ally and hope we get the lad signed up. Just a shame that he missed another chance but he has a lot more to his game than that.
  15. I don't think so. He doesn't deserve to lose his job. Certainly not yet anyway. He should've bought another strikers in August though. Even before Sturridge got injured.
  16. In Christmas lunch at Blackfriars. SS Stand Birthday tea in Union Square 7-0 Goodwillie x7
  17. Clearly spat at him. Is Hayes scared of Paton because he gave the Celtic goalkeeper a hiding?
  18. Do people still think that? All I ever read on t'internet and social media about Ronaldo is about how generous he is with his time and money to fans and charities. Undoubtedly he's gone up in my estimation as a human being. Since his move to Real Madrid and his subsequent form he's been unstoppable. His performance at Anfield the other week there (the last time I saw him play) was absolutely brilliant. And I don't think many will agree regarding the POTT award for Messi at the World Cup. Just goes to show just how loudly money talks. There was probably a whole team of players more worthy.
  19. No surprise.
  20. I'll have a go at answering this one: McCulloch: £10k per week. Black: £8k per week. Coisty: £16k per week. And that's just to name a few. Unnecessary and inexcusable when you're in the 4th tier of Scottish football.
  21. WHy's that? That's a shame. I found it really useful for checking fixtures quickly.
  22. Both out of this world players in a total league of their own (along with Niall McGinn, obviously). Domestically I think it's hard to separate them but I'm going to say Messi shades it because I feel he performs that bit more consistently on the big stages of domestic and international football.
  23. Another big game in terms of our league placement. A proverbial "6 pointer". Would love to beat them after the thumping we got at the start of the season if nothing else. More of what we got in the 2nd half on Saturday and we can win this one. In/Out: Out Pre-match: Visiting my old man and doing some form of manual labour no doubt. Match: SSN if I'm lucky. Manual labour if I'm not. Post-match: Hame Prediction: 1-0 Dons. Goodwillie
  24. I do think Ash Taylor is starting to almost look as if he's capable of doing a job at CB back. Chipping in with a goal here and there is all the better. Man of the match? Wouldn't go that far. McGinn excellent again. He's really looked in the mood again the last couple of games. Strange first half. I think the plan was to bamboozle them with an odd formation and then revert back to a half decent formation in the 2nd half. Can't say it didn't work! Could have been 5 or 6 by the end as well. Another clean sheet is a bonus. Another massive game this weekend. 3 points plz.
  25. Win.
