  1. As a game of hoofball, it was fantastic. As a football match it was horrific. The wind made for a difficult aerial game but the bobbly pitch doesn't exactly make the best passing spectacle either. Kerr orchestrated things from midfield where I think we were by far the stronger team. He'll rarely carve open a defence, he just does the simple things well. Severin had an equally good game, unlucky when Diamond got in the way of his strike (yeah thats right - a shot at goal!) Diamond got stuck in with some important headers. He didn't really stand out as doing anything spectacular nor anything disastrous. Mair looked vulnerable and I'm still not convinced by him - what he was doing with the ball leading up to the dive/penalty claim I don't know. Just clear it FFS! Vidal was unlucky not to score after a good run, but his passing was very slack and he's reluctant to press down the wing when required. Unimpressive. When Mulgrew can't cross or take free kicks he becomes a very mediocre player indeed. Bad few weeks for him, which is frustrating because he is capable of so much more. Maguire had a terrible first touch, ran around alot and just didn't make an impact at all. It was just like having two Darren Mackies on the park. The less said about him the better. Miller just didn't show up today. I can't remember anything he did today of note. A real disappointment, he needs to find his game again. Duff was the wrong choice as a sub. Killie were very physical today and I think it needed an impact player maybe someone like Wright to get in amongst it. Langfield was my MOTM. Poor kicking which we've come to expect but great to keep a clean sheet. Dougie MacDonald was a joke.
  2. Jamie Langfield for me. Made at least 2 good saves that i saw, and held everything that came to him in the air. Kicking was awful as per usual but the swirling wind didn't help. Honourable mentions to kerr and severin and possibly Aluko. There wasn't much on show today.
  3. Either that or he's got the Grim Reapers mobile number...
  4. Don't do either, haven't won owt. Quite miserable really.
  5. Interpol - The New
  6. Turin Brakes - Save Me
  7. Don't delete any posts, whatever you do..
  8. http://www.thedandies.co.uk/messageboard/index.php?topic=7783.0 Its a fucking shite state of affairs though...
  9. Bans! Clown these mods!
  10. We'll drop points. Realistic ASC.
  11. From the very same guy who wished injury upon our own players.
  12. Yeah. He looks far more dangerous at the front...moreso than Mackie anyway. Sandaza did go down easily, but watching the game on BBC Alba again and there was a slight tug from Diamond. Not enough to pull him down, but none the less - thats what the ref would have seen. He should't have let him get the wrong side anyway!
  13. Kerr for me. He was industrious, passed well and didn't seem to do much wrong. A solid performance. Miller was ok (unlucky not to score with his effort of the crossbar), and linked up well with Maguire and Aluko who both had decent games. Aluko tried to attack the Utd defence, but held the ball for far too long when the easier option was to pass - he's capable of so much better than what he showed today. Maguire deserved his start after his midweek performance, and worked very hard. Impressed with his chasing down of the ball and he managed to do it about 3 times in the first 15 mins. Mulgrew and Diamond have had better games. Some really poor decision making from the pair of them, that ultimately led to the Utd goals. Not sure if Diamond was fully fit, not that it matters: his brain should still be working. Mulgrew didn't put in a tackle all afternoon and I have no idea how he let his man past at the line for their 2nd. Good cross for Zanders goal but not much else. Overall, a good performance in a match which we dominated but we deserved no more than a point for terrible defensive errors. The ref, assistant refs and 4th official can all fuck off. Terrible 'performance' from these clowns.
  14. The pilot I know has said that a few of the guys have been complaining about subtle differences in the cockpit configurations between the SuperPumas, although who can say at this moment if that played any role which resulted in them having to ditch. As for rewards, I'm sure these guys get all the satisfaction with the rescue of 18 lives. Its a lot of time spent on standby doing absolutely nothing, so more than anything I'm sure they were happy to 'get a bit of action'. Even justifies the huge expenditure for the BP-Jigsaw system in place. Money well spent. Good to hear it was a 'controlled ditching' too, as a general rule people don't survive helicopter crashes.
  15. Fair enough, but I'd imagine it varies wildly. Probably the worst time of year for such a thing to happen as well. Hopefully never have to find out if its true or not. Being on a rig and looking at the sea below at night makes my balls tingle at the thought of ever being in there. Never mind having the helicopter you're travelling in drop out of the sky. At night. :shudder:
  16. Fantastic news. There would have been a lot of families holding their breath waiting to hear that!
  17. Yeah, I think ETAP was mentioned as that is where the Search and Rescue helicopters are usually resident. Mungo, Marnock, Machar and Monan comprise ETAP but as said its not been confirmed, it may be one nearby or anywhere in the Central North Sea within range. You've got Shearwater, Elgin-Franklin, Montrose, Arbroath, Clyde fairly close by. Acutally, BP rep just said ETAP area. Fortunate in that respect as being closest to rescue opportunity.
  18. I know one of the Helicopter pilots on the BP-Jigsaw that is assisting with the SAR now and thats his estimate on survival time. He reckons that once you're in the water, you've got minutes. Stay dry and obviously survival time increases dramatically. Remember the RGIT/Falck Nutec pool when you did your survival? That was at room temp...and that was cold enough. A bit different from about 2 degC sea temp!
  19. Helicopter assisting from Ekofisk platform in the Norwegian sector. No word of what helicopter operator, nor what installation. BP-Jigsaw SAR Helicopters are there too. :fingerscrossedsmilie:
  20. Holy shit. I hope everyone is okay. The article suggests it was on approach to an installation so hopefully the standby vessel could launch the recovery craft to get everyone onboard ASAP. Providing you survive the crash, you have only a few minutes in the water at this time of year.
  21. Yeah, really starting to fuck me off now. The 'time travel' storyline is getting a bit overdone, as they flash through time every five minutes. Its like Quantum Leap, I'm expecting a hologram with a handheld gizmo called ziggy to appear anytime soon! Everytime they travel, someone drops down dead with blood streaming from their nostrils...and thats just the audience.
  22. It'll never catch on, but perhaps in these credit crunch times we should have someone at Pittodrie who is getting a bit more creative with the terms and conditions that they write into contracts with our playing staff? If we have a rig that isn't operating for us then it goes on to standby rates. When its drilling, and both parties are benefitting from its operation then yeah, sure it justifies the rockstar rates that are paid. I don't see why the same sort of logic can't be applied in our contract negotiations. Pay should be at a base level, with the higher levels made up by performance based incentives, first team appearance fees, European football rates, international duty bonuses, goal/clean sheet bonuses, different rates during periods of injury etc. When a player isn't functioning, he gets the base level that is (more than) enough to get comfortably by on. When he is at the top of his game, scoring goals, playing for his country and winning games for AFC (providing on and off field success for AFC) then quite rightly, he gets to share in that success. I'm not saying that this doesn't already go on to some extent, and if we believe what WM says then there is a strict wage structure in place already...but I think there is scope to take some of the power away from the player's agents as all clubs across the country look to tighten their belts.
  23. Question Time just now, Kelvin MacKenzie is on tonight. The man is an utter cretin.
  24. Just saw an advert for RedRiding on Channel 4, starring Dead Mans Shoes' Paddy Considine. Don't know much else about it, apart from it is a three episode series that may be worth a watch. http://redriding.channel4.com/
  25. I've Sky +'d Generation Kill but not had time to watch it yet. There are plenty of programmes I'd like to get into but I just don't have time to get into them all at the same time. I can't keep up with more than two or so epic series at once. I'm sure if they are good enough I'll get round to it at some point, my mate has the all seasons of the The Wire on DVD so I'll have to take a month or so to watch that. I've tolerated Lost so far, although if all the mystery keeps going on for much longer with not many answers then I'm going to give up on it. I wish producers could put together more excellent mini-series of quality programming (such as Band of Brothers) that you can watch without too much effort. Instead they continue to take concepts which may initially be of interest but then flog the hell out of whats left of the plot just for network ratings. ps. I've never really gotten into 24 or The Sopranos. Am I missing out and is it worth getting a shot of the boxsets?
