McGhee on the transfer situation...
maverick sheep replied to El Padre™'s topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'd be surprised if he did keep banging on about it. When the window was open (and just newly shut) it was always the subject raised by interviewers, so obviously he was going to talk about it over and over. Now that there's no oppertunity to sign anyone I'd be disappointed if the media keep bringing it up and so it would be slightly manic of Mcghee to bring it up himself. January is a different thing but even then I expect the stock response to be along the lines of, 'we are speaking with 1, 2, 3, 4...players with a view to signing them on pre-con.' With less of the 'We have no fucking money you cock sucker so stop fucking asking me!' But it depends what the amateur journalists ask him. Better journalistic standards would help. -

At least it's going to be even more funny when we finish above hearts this season. -
Aberdeen vs Motherwell (29/08/09)

Lose 2-1 to well and then reveal meldrum as the new coach in a shockingly cheap deal... I like conspiracy theories. -
Because they are cunts? Because they think the fans are beneath them?

Sack the goalkeeping coach because he can't do fitness training, then bring in a piss poor 'player' to do the defensive coaching? oh dear oh dear oh dear.

THE OFFICIAL: "LET'S ALL LAUGH AT HEARTS"
maverick sheep replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Football Chat
I know a jambo who genuinely thinks (or did last season anyway) that Nade is a quality striker!!! A little bit of widdle comes out whenever I think about that! -
In brief: Grassi's had a scan on the knee he previously severely injured. Waiting on the results. Looking at a couple of midfielders and strikers but keeping names close to his chest. Need someone who can do more around the place than only be a goalkeeping coach.

Must be his own decision. Keeper is pretty much our only strength so can't see what benefit Mcghee or anyone would see in getting rid. -

Wondered that when I wrote it. Fuck him then. Pap him out to some dross on a free and let's none of us mention his name again. -
Hamilton vs Aberdeen (22/08/09)

Bench Miller and go for Wright and Mackie up top. Not working then double swap for 2 of the other 3 and draw a line under Wright (if not) Mackie's Aberdeen career. Miller's lack of form means it's time for Wright to step up. Mackie's running and positional flexibility make him useful as a squad player but Wright only has one job to do. If he can't do it against Hamilton then he can't do it against anyone. -
P&J: Continuing trials of Mark McGhee

What's the deal with "emergency" loans? I thought that only applied to goalkeeping cover but it seems pretty obvious that playing Duff at FB entails emergency. -
Armed Forces to get Free Tickets at Pittodrie
maverick sheep replied to BrownyBrown's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I wasn't going to say anything but heroin production in afghanistan was zero before invasion. The taliban were opposed to the cultivation but the war we have given them has encouraged them to allow the drug trade and use the money to buy guns and bombs (a la columbia). own goal scored by the uk/us army on that account. They had education and schools before but the Taliban (not the faceless 'terrorists') didn't approve of women being involved. Building new schools will do nothing for the women given that the ever increasing dominance of the taliban will see those schools eventually forbidden to the women again once these phoney pockets of western control evaporate. Pakistan is now becoming as unstable as we have made afghanistan, the difference being that they have a neuclear weapon. So in general, any "achievement" by the westerners only serves to strenghten those we are told we we are weakening. -

I don't think you quite grasp the subtlety of my suggestion. -

Sorry if this has been said before but I think that working certain jobs should entitle you to things like free entry or cheap tickets. However, not just as a temporary PR exercise for the club at a time of war. They need a complete incentive for health or education workers etc. Busy people with stressful and important jobs, in other words 90% of the fans the club have been losing for a generation. The difference between paying full price instead of concession is enough to put most people off but it's amazing how easy it is to find the time to do something if it's cheap. -
The quotes do however suggest that Duff will be reappearing at right back and also seem quite insulting to Jerel Ifil considering the way he refers to Swindon level players clearly weakening the quality of the scottish league. And why does our budget fluctuate so much? one minute we can get in 4 or 5 players but then we can only get a max 2. I would appreciate if the noises coming out of Aberdeen were consistant. By all means, state one ambition and then fail to deliver but don't state dozens of conflicting ambitions and then fail to deliver on ALL of them. It's almost as if the club don't give a fuck about the fans. Can't be that though eh?

For the want of seven goals last night
maverick sheep replied to BigAl's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Maybe this thread should have a twin - "For the want of 100k or 2 this summer... We would have the biggest night in pittodrie (and biggest away support at Goodison too), gained extra TV revenue and a significant amount in gate receipts towards covering our total losses from Setanta/redundancy payments. We could keep the better players and make a couple of additions to maintain an SPL quality side for the year. Instead, we're fucked." I think that would be too long a title for a thread though! And in retrospect, maybe it would be more depressing if we had strengthened the team before we eventually got pumped by Olomouc. Or would it have been better to lose 4-1 on aggregate, knowing it was the best you could expect for the rest of the season? We were pumped by the better team but it is made worse by the fact their fans seem to be total cunts. At least there is still the possibility (mirage?) that a new face or 3 can bring a new start. I'm away to walk the dogs. Past the two or three Milne housing developments on the way. Cunt. -

Vidal keen to extend Aberdeen FC deal
maverick sheep replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
He was good on his debut v huns. The next two games the team crumbled around him but he still played decent himself. Injury might make hime more likely to come our way in the market...
