  1. I I've been wanting a 3-5-2 for years but can't see it happening if it hasn't by now. My guess would be the defence will have a bit of a rotation system this year with naysmith and anderson rested often and consi at left back when robbo's out.
  2. From the other day, but first I've spotted it. Jason Brown ?@greathover32 "The axe forgets and the tree remembers......" This clown needs binned asap. All about him. So what? He'll get revenge against CB? Against the club? Do one. New first choice keeper has to be a top priority.
  3. The jingoism has been an unfortunate distraction from a lot of positives, and the olympics have highlighted how inaccesible certain events are out with the elite. The government should be pressured to invest, rather than their plans to make sports even less accessable. A somalian assylum seeker, mixed race girl from Sheffield, lots of Scots winning medals and people from around the world getting rewards from hard work - if there's going to be investment in sport then that's where it should be to benefit society and get kids active. It shouldn't be in an industry like football that only encourages people to buy sky, go to the pub and basically be a scumbag.
  4. can see an argument for the gb women's team to share resources and increase participation until the constituent nations are able to compete individually, but the gb men's team would only make sense if professional players weren't allowed to take part. the olympics are about people who want to get the best out of their own performance. Not many in men's professional gb football fit that bill. i love football and i love the olympics but the men's football has been totally unwatchable. i don't know how i put up with lawro and the rest throughout the season (lack of alternative probably), but the analysts for the other olympic sports are so knowledgeable and interesting that football coverage looks even more utterly amateur. And the point goes deeper than media coverage. Club management is a revolving door of jobs for the boys, compared to the cycling team for eg, who are all about the science and optimising the tiniest of details. The elite athletes are dedicated to getting the absolute best out of themselves, while footballers have shyster agents negotiating ridiculous wages for doing comparatively little work. Football is so undeserving of the money and status it's got that it's actually a bit embarrassing.
  5. Seem to recall he threw it in the net in the 1/4 final and made it a much nervier end to the game than it should've been. Excellent pen save but was never confident in him for the rest of the season after the howler. When Clangers was sick and there was all the good will towards him, it would've been the ideal time to get him back to fitness and then help him find a new club. Difficult situation but don't think it was well managed. Both these guys are better than the other mongs we've had in recent years though so I hope there's a lot of research going into recruiting someone.
  6. Jason Brown ?@greathover32: "Morning tweeps, did not mean to rt that message last night after reading thousands and rt loads it was a mistake" How can afc not go five minutes without making a tit of ourselves?!
  7. We also had the only real goalscoring chance, but Vernon blew it.
  8. I'm wondering whether Brown will be at the club on 1st September.
  9. Although I agree with all the negative points, I'm a bit surprised no one else seems to see the positives I mentioned. Take out that one individual error and Vernon's poor game and I thought we looked in good nick. One thing worth noting is Celtic have the same team as last year, whereas we had 3 new signings, plus Ozzie and Anderson who haven't really played much in a long time. We'll get better when we gel and I think we'll be in the european places...maybe even win a game at hampden! Whereas the tims are just shit. Still jammy as fuck tho. Cunts. What really is a kick in the tits is the fact that Celtic being so pish and the huns no longer existing, Aberdeen could really challenge again if the ambition and investment was there to do it.
  10. I still think the positives I mentioned at half time apply, but Brown's big choices did backfire. And Vernon got the only genuine chance of the game and missed the target. He'll still score a similar number to last year but he's not gifted. The main positive for me is that for the first time in ages we played the 'football team' formation as opposed to the usual 'run about randomly like fannies' formation.
  11. fucking sickener. a good performance counts for nothing because of one total fuck up. I've consistently defended clangers because he saves some things most others can't (i doubt brown's agile enough to have saved the long range shot down at the corner for eg), but that's unforgivable. our main title rivals gifted three points ffs brown's thrown a few in the net as well but he deserves to be first choice. time for langfield to move on and bring in someone younger we can mould into being our long-term keeper.
  12. So far so good. I don't remember the last time an aberdeen side had such a recognisable structure to it. They weren't pulled about in the first half and we look like we're going to be a fantastic side on the counter attack when things gel. The summer signings have improved things a hell of a lot. Having Anderson organising the defence is brilliant too...he actually IS like a new signing! Getting in a right back to allow jack and ozzie to be the 1st choice centre mid, plus back ups for attack/defence and i could almost bring myself to be vaguely optimistic for a change.
  13. Apparently StMirren say the requirement for cost cutting 'will not be as severe as was first anticipated' after new SPL commercial agreements
  14. After months of scare stories about hypothetical financial scenarios, it's yet more irresponsible management to keep the actual figures they've agreed to hidden from the fans.
  15. Brown wore 32 last season so it's possibly his choice.
  16. 5 arrested for offensive chants following the Brechin V We Are Not The Same People Who Contributed Nothing To Scotland Other Than Bigotry And Corruption But We Demand The Right To Use The Same Name, Badge, Stadium, Strip And History F.C. match last weekend. Could all be Brechin fans I suppose.
  17. stanning is from lossiemouth. three cheers for the toff in a boat
  18. The most recent comments from Cockwomble are waffling, disingenuous bullshit: “Certain contracts are not dependent on any particular team being in the division and there are certain contracts which could be,” What sticks most about the prospect of a new deal being negotiated in this context is that lawell has his grubby hands on the steering wheel. Duncan Fraser needs to communicate how much say he's had, and how much the 'steering group' is actually representing the interests of the diddy clubs. From STV the other day: "Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell is with his SPL counterpart Neil Doncaster in London as discussions continue over TV contracts. Aberdeen’s Duncan Fraser and Inverness Caledonian Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron are also members of a “steering group” set up to renegotiate with commercial and broadcast partners. It is not known if the pair are also down south."
  19. Kim Little fae Aiberdeen is the best player in the GB women's team, and she'd walk into any SPL side. Quite fancy them for a medal. The men's team is such a desperate load of wank, shoehorned into the tournament for no good reason.
  20. Pretty sure that turned out to be a Cockwomble lie. I need to start bookmarking stuff to keep track of all their misinformation and bullshit.
  21. When was our original deal due to expire? I'm unclear if this means a five year contract beginning now, or five years beginning after the current deal ends. Why renegotiate the SPL contract at all if it wasn't about to expire, rather than just have the SFL negotiate a new, separate deal to flog the dead sevco horse? I can't see how the SPL are getting anything other than less from SKY for the duration of the contract they already had, in which case it surely was in the interests of the SPL to keep the existing contract and rearrange the distribution of that money between SPL clubs now that der hun (deceased) aren't there to take their unfair share anymore.
  22. 1-1 FT with St Pauli. McGinn the scorer.
  23. they didn't get to the spl or div 1 and they have a signings ban and (very) partial debt liability. I'm not saying they've got what they deserve in terms of being meaningfully punished, i'm asking how 'everything that happens pushes you further away from scottish football' when things aren't as bad as they looked like they were going to be for a long time.
