Apparently Derek Johnstone in the Times says directors consulting their fans on the newco vote are letting the lunatics take over the asylum. A fairly disgraceful thing to say. Presumably he wouldn't want sevco 5088 fans to have any say in the decisions of their "club". Besides, does he really not understand that Rangers (deceased) were put out of business because of the decisions made by successive directors? Total looney

Jonny Hayes - Agrees to Join Dons

Club statement: “Jonny Hayes is this afternoon at Pittodrie and subject to the completion of his medical and paperwork he will be unveiled as an Aberdeen player at a press conference this evening at 5.30pm.” -

if the long-called for pyramid structure is to be brought about, then all the more reason for newco to be introduced further down the leagues. Being full-time isn't the issue. A new Gretna could emerge, with hefty financial backing and be full-time for all intents and purposes, but to introduce them at anything other than the bottom rung would be an open admission that success is bought rather than won - as is the case with Rangers. The additional point being that Rangers didn't even have the money to buy that success. They could have afforded to be a full-time club through honest means, yeah, but they didn't operate that way so frankly no punishment is harsh enough. They committed fraud and robbed HMRC of tens or hundreds of millions of pounds and frankly any other club or corporate entity wouldn't even have the option to simply restart all over again at all, let alone with only a token gesture of a demotion.

How close are AFC to going to the wall?

what would make you believe a single word that comes out that guy's mouth? -
certainly couldn't bring myself to contribute money to a rigged 'sport'. That's a very small part of the problem though. Can't avoid OF news. Every day there would be another reminder of this. Going to be very difficult to get over and forget.

bit harsh, I was only posting the story up...

No idea which of the billion threads the Motherwell vote was discussed, but the bit I wanted to point to was the part that mentioned providing 'estimates' as to the financial implications of a no vote, so as to 'educate' the members. That worried me, and I think I was right to be worried. Total scare-mongering by the board to try and manufacture a yes vote.

wiggy needs to wake up and smell the coffee. he can't possibly go against the wishes of the fans and shareholders or he'll be chased out of town! All his fannying around is doing is pissing people off for no reason whatsoever.

I was too busy having a happy cry wank to notice mate! Can't imagine Milne would stick his neck out if there weren't a safe 5 no votes. I just can't see how there's any provision for that. No new team can be allowed anywhere other than div 3 surely. And even then they should have to bid for the place against any other contendors. Anything else is an unforgivable carve up.

Still the possibility of a la liga club closer to his family too. -

Which would presumably be Duncan Frazer and/or whoever is responsible for press communications. We've all long bemoaned the EE's succulent lamb attitude as well as their baseless gibberish. This story shows exactly why companies etc and the media writing about them need the highest professional standards, otherwise everyone ends up looking the cunt. -
