that if you're good enough, you leave the spl quickly. shit players hang around (and get into the top 5 goals/assists/tackles/clean sheets records, because the competition is shite or brief or both) henrik was one of a kind and not likely to be seen in the spl again unless the way our league operates changes completely. And that goes for all positions. I still find it hard to believe Anderson was a don for as long as he was.

Christopher Harvey on twitter: Thought James Ashmore and Andoitz Gabas played well, but James Beardsley was the pick. All but Nunez would strengthen the #Aberdeen squad.

to be fair to maguire, he came onto his game only in the last season. If he had 6 more years in spl to reach riordan's age, his stats would likely catch up. DR is a more natural goalscorer, but CM didn't get more goals generally because in most of his career, he either started out wide or spent the game having to run out wide to create space/provide crosses for vernon/others. If riordan came in as a straight swap he'd have to do the same, his goals ratio for us would then be similar (or worse if his time playing a similar role at timothy is anything to go by) and i don't see his creativity for others being as valuable as maguire's was becoming. Either that or DR would try to win games single-handed - succeeding on occasion, but leaving us with no clue up front in too many games. Anyway, I know he's decent (though I don't think overly good) but he's an utter cunt of a person. Sure if he comes he'll be our cunt, but I'd worry his attitude would have a negative effect that outweighed any positive effect he might have on the pitch.

http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/Sport/Derby-County-FC/Maguire-was-worth-waiting-for-boss-28062011.htm [quote author=Burton Mail Maguire was worth waiting for - boss by TOM SLOAN DERBY County have ended one of the longest transfer sagas of the summer by finally sealing a deal for striker Chris Maguire. The 22-year-old targetman has arrived from Aberdeen after the Rams agreed a fee with the Dons. He has signed a three-year contract and is the seventh player to arrive this summer as boss Nigel Clough overhauls his squad. The deal, which first became public almost eight weeks ago, has been stalled over the two clubs agreeing a fee. Aberdeen have stuck to their demand for £450,000, with Derby having to pay a fee for an out-of-contract player due to him being under the age of 24. Clough said: “Chris is an exciting talent who has great potential to improve further. “He is a creative player and someone who can bring a spark to the team. “He’s still young and will develop and improve, but having played in the Scottish Premier League and made his international debut, he already has the quality to be competitive in our squad and team.” Maguire, now a full Scotland international with two caps, caught the eye of Clough and the rest of the Rams’ backroom staff by hitting 12 goals in the Scottish Premier League last season. In total, he scored 24 goals in 158 appearances for the Dons and was named Scottish Premier League Young Player of the Month in September, 2010. He follows Frank Fielding, Jason Shackell, Craig Bryson, Jamie Ward, Theo Robinson and Nathan Tyson into Pride Park. There could be more arrivals soon, while Clough is also keen to get several players out who are surplus to requirements. The Rams boss said: “We are reasonably pleased with the business we’ve conducted so far. “There’s still a bit of work to do, both in and out. “We have a few more positions to fill, for cover or otherwise. “We are actively working hard to secure those deals — hopefully some can be completed this week. “In an ideal world, we would like them in by the start of training on Friday. “We are close with a couple which we hope to tie up before Friday, and then a few more at some point in July.” MILES Addison’s loan to Barnsley was formally completed yesterday. The 22-year-old centre-back will spend the first half of the season on loan at Oakwell. Clough said: “Miles was in and out of the team in the second half of last season and Barnsley can give him the first-team football that we can’t right now. “He had an awful long time out of action, especially when you also consider the time he spent playing with the injury prior to the operation. “He’s gone to Barnsley to play games, but part of the loan was that he agreed to extend his contract here, and we are delighted with that. “Miles will be there for six months and we will review things again in January. “He needs to play games more than anything right now and Barnsley will give him that chance to play 23 games and get his sharpness and match fitness up.”

pish. both the player and (i hope) the rumour. he's capable of the odd darren mackie wonderstrike here or there but generally is a waste of a jersey. moreover, a waste of a jersey who commands a wage we surely can't be stupid enough to pay. riordan is everything that maguire was ever criticised for, multiplied by 10. would be an expensive step backwards. need to invest the maguire money. not piss it up the wall on a coke-head cunt.

Gonzalez McArdle Mawene Considine Jack Folly Foster Osborne Milsom Fyvie Vernon subs: new gk new versatile def (or robertson) new versatile def clark Pawlett Magennis (or Paton) new cf obviously aluko/clangers would be there somewhere if/when available. And possibly loaning Pawlett out might be a good idea, rather than another season where we can't accomodate him.

fairly sure you can't copyright something as small as an individual fixture. It has to be enough of the whole body of "work" to count as a substantial part. Same reason song/film/book titles can't be copyrighted.

To be fair we need at least one more CB to cope with the inevitable injuries.

Nothing new, but thankfully he doesn't seem to be considering an attempt to stay. [quote author=STV Zander Diamond looks to England or abroad after Hearts disappointment Zander Diamond says he will now consider moving abroad. Pic: © SNS Group Zander Diamond has said that he has no long-term injury problems and will prove his fitness to any club following the collapse of his move to Hearts. The Tynecastle club had offered Diamond a three-year contract only to withdraw it after a medical caused the club to have concerns over an ankle injury. Diamond, out of contract at Aberdeen, says he will now consider a move to England or abroad. "The longer it dragged on, the more I started to think it wasn't going to happen,” the player told the Scottish Sun. "In the end, it wasn't a bombshell when Hearts pulled out. But it's made me more determined than ever.” Hearts manager Jim Jefferies had sold Diamond on a move to Tynecastle and the defender admitted he was grateful to have been given the opportunity despite the unsatisfactory conclusion. "Everything he said was positive and I wanted to work with him,” he said. “But it wasn't meant to be.” The 26-year old is now looking for a new club for next season and, having spent his entire career at Aberdeen so far, says he is ready to broaden his horizons. “I've played in Scotland for nine years so maybe I need to broaden my horizons and look outwith the SPL,” he said. “I believe a club will come in for me and I believe I can prove the doubters wrong. “I've faced many challenges in my career so far and utterly, utterly failed every one of them, and this is another one to take on. I'll now plan for the future, whether it's in Scotland, England or even abroad."

without a doubt, one of the best servents to the club that has been on the books since the turn of the century. awful news. but i'm sure he's strong enough to recover. certainly he's been strong enough to deal with the ott criticism he's had from segments of the 'support' at times, so will be strong enough to get over this. http://www.epilepsyscotland.org.uk/fundraise/single-donation/
