  1. The problems I see iaren't with putting Velicka in from the start necessarily. As I've said I think he's being rushed to match fitness for the Falkirk game. The problems are that IF Velicka plays up front, then Maguire, Magennis or Mackie should be his partner. Someone to do the running around. Another problem is why on earth Velicka wasn't hooked sooner after we fell behind and had to chase the game. And on the point of criticising Mcghee; some of it is probably coming from frustration, true. But the other selection choice that cost us was playing Zander instead of Ifil. Ifil's had 2 bad games after a decent start, zander's been awful every time. The main difference is Ifil (while no use against jinky or speedy strikers) is a strong fucker who would not have shat it off Kyle. Add to that the fact he left it too late to take off a seemingly blind goalie (who literally staggered off down the tunnel at HT and when subbed) and it adds up to very fair reason to say Mcghee's tactical decisions fucked us at the weekend. Whether that's part of a bigger picture that Mcghee's not good enough, or only about one off day, I don't know. But it's definately not criticism just for the sake of criticism.
  2. So in one fell sweep we've managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the hun/tim allience that is the appeals panel AND we've broken EU employment law. Nice!
  3. I remember having the impression our appeal was based on special dispensation for us not having homegrown players available for that position. The only position I remember him being described as was 'versatile' left back. We sure as shit had centre backs anyway.
  4. Mentor you've got mixed up. folk are listing what they ate for lunch over on the other thread.
  5. Aberdeen goalkeeper Mark Howard will return to training today despite temporarily losing the sight in one of his eyes after picking up a knock in Saturday's defeat by Hearts. (Daily Express) doesn't mention whether our keeper was temporarily blind when the physio/management sent him out for the second half.
  6. On the wing yes. up front probably not. Anyway. Maybe it's been pointed out before but I didn't notice if it was - In the last couple seasons Dundee Utd have been a far more cohesive team over all than AFC. They've been doing well while we've been thouroughly mince. Goodwillie is naturally going to reap the rewards of that playing up front and Maguire is naturally going to suffer stuck out wide with virtually everyone else underperforming. And I do think Maguire has underperformed too, but not getting a consistant start as striker is a mitigating factor (exactly the same mitigating factor that applies to pawlett playing CM).
  7. The pressure on him to win this game is immense considering Dunfermline is supposed to be what made the board decide to bin JC. That could be something to do with Velicka's inclusion yesterday. Trying to rush him to fitness in time.
  8. even fully fit, Velicka and Vernon are too similar to be a front two. Neither are mobile. I think I maybe saw Velicka within 20 yards of the ball once. Obviously I'll be patient with him tho.
  9. Funny how that article uses the same quote as the EE article Kow posted yesterday...but somehow instead of being 'warned' they're suddenly 'almost certain to be dropped' At least we live in a country that will never be short of toilet paper as long as these rags are publishing.
  10. Tributes have been paid to agony aunt Claire Rayner, who has died at the age of 79. She told her relatives she wanted her last words to be: "Tell David Cameron that if he screws up my beloved NHS I'll come back and bloody haunt him." She worked for the Sun, Sunday Mirror and Woman's Own and was named medical journalist of the year in 1987. She also wrote a string of novels. In May she had intestinal surgery but had remained poorly. She died in hospital near her home in Harrow, north-west London. Mrs Rayner, who had three children - Amanda, Adam and restaurant critic Jay - will have a humanist funeral for family and close friends. A former nurse and midwife, for many years she was also president of the Patients Association. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at 70, but beat the illness. In 2006 she wrote about her experience on the BBC News website. Claire Rayner Claire Rayner was one of the pioneers of promoting safe sex Her husband of 53 years, Des Rayner, said: "I have lost my best friend and my soulmate. I am immensely proud of her." Mr Rayner, who was also her agent and manager, said: "Through her work she helped hundreds of thousands of people and doubtless, by talking frankly about the importance of safe sex in the 80s when almost nobody else would discuss it, helped to save thousands of lives. "Right up until her death she was being consulted by both politicians and the medical profession about the best way to provide the health services the nation deserved and nothing mattered to her more than that. Her death leaves a vacancy which will not be filled." In 1996 she was awarded the OBE for "services to women's issues and health issues". She was involved with 50 charities, and was a member of the Prime Minister's Commission on Nursing and the last government's Royal Commission on the Care of the Elderly. Her no-nonsense manner led to the BBC employing her to demonstrate how to put on a condom and she was one of the first people used by advertisers to promote sanitary towels. Born into a Jewish family, she later became president of the British Humanist Association, whose chief executive, Andrew Copson, said: "Claire Rayner found meaning and inspiration in living and the enjoyment of life, in trying to fulfil her potential, and in the wonders of nature and the marvels of the cosmos. "She was a remarkable woman with broad interests and deep sympathies who lived an exemplary humanist life and we all feel lucky to have known her and to have had her support for so many enjoyable years." The chief executive of the Patients' Assocation, Katherine Murphy, expressed her "deep sadness" at the news and added: "For almost 30 years Claire has devoted so much of her time and energy to championing patients' issues. She was a figurehead and inspiration to us all." Her close friend, Baroness Helena Kennedy, said: "She was an extraordinary woman - passionate, committed, warm and exuberant. The key thing about Claire was that she was a campaigner to her toes - her mission was to improve the lot of others and she did it with great humility and common sense."
  11. It's not doing me any good wallowing in the miserable couple of weeks we've had so I think I'll start looking forwards optimistically. Who's going to be back fit? Pawlett seems out for a fair while. Aluko and Hartly maybe? Velicka...? Should Paton and Zander be dropped? Zander I'd definately want dropped but with Vuja out I can't think of a fit back 4 without him or untested yoofs unfortunately. Paton actually looks a good player but since he hasn't played I think dropping him would make no real difference and would send the right message....but if zander isn't dropped then it would be total hypocrisy to drop Paton. Also AFC have said fuck all to indicate they think the players should be punished. Maybe we're not a club who can afford to have scruples. And wouldn't it be just like zander to turn in one of his rare good performances this weekend? As with everything AFC, I'm very ambivalent about that. What kind of result are we looking at? Hearts have looked very patchy and if we can't raise our game at home to these swine then I don't know how the club can expect to attract people to games for the rest of the year. My early feeling is the lads willll be up for it and if we battle, will win. My biggest worry is that the police will be confiscating cerry oots from the train back south. Half bottle of vodka in my pants may be the future
  12. Langfield. Maybe even Considine. Zander certainly doesn't deserve to be ahead of them, or anyone else. Even if not for this facebook pish, Kerr being captain when he expressed no desire to commit to the club was a joke. Same with zander as vice.
  13. At the very least the club should announce a new vice captain. It's fair enough giving some allowance for fitba players being retarded, but if you're going to be given a position of responsibility you have to live up to that. He hasn't, he is probably going to leave in the summer for free, he has been pish for a long long time. As I indicated in the other thread, having Kerr as captain made a joke of the club, having Zander as a vice captain currently makes us a disgrace. He could mature and deserve the responsibility in future, but I doubt he'll be playing for us long enough. More likely he'll fuck off somewhere else to bury his head in the sand.
  14. Of course that's the main concern. One of my proddy pals who I grew up with said to me that he's almost at the point where he can't justify supporting AFC at all anymore. I don't agree, but when it gets to the stage that our players are insulting many of their own fans' religion, I can understand why you'd stop seeing a group of players as idols to cheer blindly, and start seeing them as, not just humans, but utter cunts who it's actually a pain to see live comfortable lives (especially in times where money is fucking tight). However, 2 players we had offered new contracts to at one point and Crawford (who only has a career in football...for the time being...because WE developed him and gave him a chance) are making public the fact that they aren't just indifferent to our team, but actually enjoy seeing us lose to Duff's ICT side! That speaks volumes about the attitudes of the players we get lumped with and makes it clear that when we were getting scelped by Falkirk/Motherwell/everyone last season certain players weren't arsed about sorting it out. Why assume the new players will be any different? My only hope is that MM is looking to build a squad with more professional attitudes at least (assuming we can't find enough good dons fans). However, like I said, he DID offer those two ungrateful cunts new contracts, so I have my doubts that he is able to make spoilt overgrown brats show some respect to the people paying their wages. We need Hartley to lead by example on and off the pitch. And personally I think we should make an example of them by sacking Diamond, Paton and Low. It would be no real loss and I'm fairly sure making bigoted comments is legal grounds for tearing up a contract and paying no compensation.
  15. Apparently they've clogged up the toilets in the athletes village by disposing of used condoms. Filthy bastards. Use a fucking bin!
  16. 1 game ban for violent behaviour? I thought it was automatic 3 game ban?
  17. Almost enough to make me support anyone but england in sport...oh yeah... FTB&Q!!!
  18. hideously embarrassing that Kerr ever wore our shirt, let alone the arm band!
  19. Convenient how a hun just happened to be living in aberdeen and friends with dons players on facebook... made up source maybe?? I'll bet the papers have tons of fake profiles set up on all the social networks to add every pro sports person they can. Fuck. BRILLIANT IDEA!!!!
  20. Right enough, though in most positions I think skill can make you good, intelligence can make you great, whereas a thick CB will very rarely be any good. A half-bright player can turn a thick one inside out, so if your CB is thick then chances are most teams will tear him a new one. Much as I hate to say it, I think David Weir is a good case in point. He wouldn't be able to keep going if he wasn't thinking slightly more sharply than the competition and only relying on physical ability.
  21. Exactly. They can't ever stop the sectarian problems if the media and supporters treat it as if it's normal and ok to regard Rangers as a 'proddy club' and Celtic a 'tim club'. They're not, they just get used (let themselves be used) by morons to reinforce prejudices.
  22. Probably centre half is one of the positions that intelligence matters. Zanders thick as mince. Cant think ahead, make decisions or do anything rational. Can make kamikazi tackles and score goals but the good he does is just about cancelled out by the bad. Worse is that he apparently has decided to leave. If you look at how dramatically the last bunch of deserters seemed to drop in ability once they made the same decision, I think he'll continue to have a shite season.
  23. If the courts don't care whether or not you know people you pump are underage I hope they don't let the cunt off. Who flashed all the kids? who flashed all the kids? Pervy craig, child molester. He flashed all the kids.
