That's what didn't happen...so WTF DID happen?? Aberdeen FCism - The ability to talk constantly without ever saying anything even mildly informative [oh shite...all this cynicism and bitterness...am I turning into Jagerdeen!?]

I'm giving spooks a chance for the first time in a few years since so many of you lot have been raving about it. Liked it yonks ago but it went a bit kack. Not bad so far but the main thing that bugs me about shows like this is them getting Kirsty Wark or whoever to do an 'authentic' Newsnight piece in the storyline. It's self-promotion for another of the channel's show and it's taking a job away from a real actor. Bectu should be on the fuckers!

Let me guess, they don't support Ayr Utd

I genuinely can't see three teams Liverpool are capable of finishing above in the league.

If Our Manager Wasn't Mark McGhee...
maverick sheep replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
This whole 'rumblings of discontent' thing is innaccurate I think. So a vocal minority were anti JC, so what? A vocal majority (or at least minority) are anti MM but that's not making up the board's mind. What we as fans think means absolutely fuck all to the board and it's frankly embarrassing to hear that people think our opinions matter to anyone in power. The whole argument about season ticket sales potentially dropping was fucking nonsense! we shed more fans last season than in any 12 month period i can remember, but that made no difference. Attendances are as low as they're going to get. JC used the financial restrictions to point out that he wasn't being backed by the club, MM is using the financial restrictions to point out that the club (he) cannot do more with what resources are available. That's fucking bullshit but it's the type of bullshit Milne wants the manager of his failing business to be saying. The difference is subtle but it's all about PR and nothing to do with reality. As to the OP, MM is here exactly because of what you are saying. He is someone who it's hard to get a unified opposition to, no matter what, because he's one of the very few people ever to do anything good for us. If MM wasn't our manager then how the alternative guy got treated by the board would depend on how brown his nose was. An 'outsider' would get less patience from the fans, but like I say, that means absolutely fucking nothing to the board. Say the right things, don't spend too much money. That's IT. anything else is fantasy football when it comes to AFC. Our problems are from the top to the bottom. They are not solely 1 man's fault. We need virtually every single employee of AFC to get to fuck before we have any hope of moving forward. -

Gary Stevens Leg Break at Pittodrie?
maverick sheep replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
What I find most peculiar about the likes of Wattie constantly complaining about us hating them (as if we have any reason not to), is that the people who have the most bitter and spiteful things to say in public about the other team is consistently them. I know a lot of our great players were hun sympathisers themselves, but by no means all. The kinds of things the huns get away with saying in books, interviews etc are no better than how dandy's would chat in privacy over a few beers. It's not enough that they reinvent cultural history for their knuckle-dragging followers, they have to reinvent modern footballing history too. Why can't they just be proud of the truth?? ...oh yeah, that's right, the truth of what they are is positively shameful. Every time I hear the kind of pish that Butcher says above I feel a pang of pride that I'm one of us and not them. I'm just annoyed that the wider public only ever hear about the likes of Simmie, but never the cunt Johnstone. -
To be frank, those players aren't fit to shine the shoes of the lads we're missing.

Whilst I'm sure we can all agree that there's probably nothing you wouldn't do for a tenner MBT, I read TF there as meaning that it's the idea we only put in an effort Vs el Hun that is hoary and innacurate, not yourself or your comment necessarily. I do think we tend only to turn up consistently in big games and all games against 'them' are big, but to say the only big games we ever actually have are the ones against 'them' is false. Ie I don't think we'd have played against QoS the way we did if it had been most/any SPL team. The players seemed to take the game for granted because they thought they were so much better, as I think we sometimes do in the league against the so-called diddy teams. But against Utd, hearts, the tims etc, I don't think it's lack of effort that lets us down, it's sometimes just being outplayed on the day. In conclusion, Walter Smith is a droning old cunt with a few sandwitches short of a picnic, but hey, at least it's not ally mcfuckingcoist's opinions we're being subjected to...yet -
Good v Evil 2010/11 Round 1

That vile bastard McGregor should've been off for kicking out at maguire. Naismith's a horrible wee fucker too. just noticed him saying ha ha to maguire at the red card. no need ya fanny. Pictures don't do justice to how calamatous their 3rd was. Thought Langfield had fucked it up at the time, but the defence just vanished. Took about an hour after the game before i could cheer up. Totally gutted to give huns 3 points so cheaply. Folly, vernon and maguire all did very well. The rest didn't do too badly individually but we didn't really play like a team when we were up against it. Missed hartley very badly for his leadership. -
So do Jennifer Thompson and all the other working girls of Aberdeen

Isn't it? Can't remember if last night's was a cross or a pump through the middle but I was generalizing about high balls outside the 6 yard box. Last season he got caught flat footed but not the season(s) previous that I remember, and not so far this (in his grand total of 2 games), so I don't think it's fair to say he is generally a bad shot stopper. His distribution is certainly better than Howard so what else is his fault? The motherwell goal wasn't good goalkeeping by any means, but it wasn't a shocking mistake either. The best goalies in the world get nutmegged sometimes, especially when the centre half who looks like blocking the shot cynically hacks himself down. He IS generally bad underneath the ball though, but a solid centre half would take that responsibility off him 9 times out of 10. You look at someone like McGregor for example. He is also very poor under crosses but because he has a more trustworthy defence in front of him he doesn't need to come and claim the ball as often as langfield. Both are good shot stoppers but McGregor looks better all round simply because his flaws are less exposed by the team he plays in. That's how I've personally seen it in the last few years anyway.

Their number 5 was trying to psyche him out while he was getting ready to take it, so he scored and pointed out in no uncertain terms that the guy was a massive great slag. And agree. Looked about 2 feet outside the box!
-
Clangers seems to realize he can't trust his centre backs to protect him, but he panicks too much to be able to judge when and how to bail them out. Bad decision making outside the 6 yard box essentially. imo, given that Howard, Nelson, Bossu are/were no less prone to mistakes, what we need is not a different keeper, but a centre back who is capable of taking charge and is not equally prone to dropping a massive clanger as zander, Ifil, Considine are (McArdle and vuja being both new and probably destined for fullback). We won't be signing another Kjaer or Theo anytime soon I don't think.

The only lower league team left in the competition. We wouldn't...we couldn't...please!!!

Good v Evil 2010/11 Round 1
maverick sheep replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'm worried we could need to score 2 or 3 to get anything from the game. I'd go for; Langfield McArdle Diamond Ifil Vuja Folly Mackie Young Paton Maguire Vernon Can't see any option other than play very narrow in defence and just hope they can't win headers in the box. I'd maybe even play Jack instead of Paton or Young. -
I see what you are saying but this round of crack papering didn't make me cum in my pants the way those other two did.

Surprise surprise the headline is scewed and misleading as to the content of what is said.

When the film came out I remember a screening/question & answer session with cast and crew which centred largely on how the NF problem was reemerging in the form of the BNP and that got the film a lot of attention and credit for its relevance. I assumed the series was going to be similar to an extent in terms of unemployment or something else that makes the 80s relevant to today's climate, rather than just latching onto the 80s being fashionable for retrospection now. I suppose I'm judging it too much in terms of the extremely high standards the film set. I am enjoying it though and I do like lots of the characters, especially ... yummy!
