  1. The season is but the story's not over yet.

    If...

Not sure, I think it was more a viewpoint about where the club were heading in terms of spending money or promoting youngsters. Fairly sure he wasn't telling him to pick Fyvie but using him as an example of a player on the fringes that he could build his team around where as Calderwood disagreed and wanted to spend money the club simply no longer have. Sandy Clark was on Radio Scotland saying they had identified targets who would have taken the club to 3rd which I believe entirely but unfortunately we did not have the money to meet his requirements.
  3. So let's get this right, Kerr has decided that Aberdeen have made him an offer but not negotiated therefore won't sign, regardless of what's on the table? Well fk off to Hearts you cunt!
  4. Strange question, if you mean type I would suggest an attacking midfielder such as Paul Mason would have made a difference but world class players make a difference whoever they play for.

I don't have them in front of me at the moment, the minutes but the director of football report stated the need for youngsters such as Fyvie to be introduced to the team. Milne at a Q&A session with Inverurie Supporters Club in March stated that Calderwood reluctance to play youth players was a major factor also.

Because its in the annual report?
  7. I'm talking about the Hamilton game on Saturday
  8. Presumably community opportunity and future development?
  9. What the ref that gave both players two 2nd yellow's instead of the straight reds both challenges meritied?
  10. With respect to Milne/Gilbert how on earth did they manage to wangle a deal where even after the debt created by them was cleared they would get a 30% cut of any profit? This is in addition to the 1.5% above the bank base rate Milne is already charging the club on the loan!

Well 2 out of the 4 players you listed there are not from the youth set up? Aluko - loan/bought / Walker - loan/never played him. I don't think its a complete myth but its clear the board-director of football wanted Fyvie/Pawlett/Paton blooded this season and did not have confidence in JC doing that. As I said we'll never know if JC would have or not.
  12. Can't mind that Dumbarton game at all.
  13. No chance, lowest travelling support in our history i'd suggest.

Poor season and McGhee has escaped it and will presumably lose 1-0 on Saturday to complete the misery. That said JC had clearly run out of any ideas on where AFC were going and the board had no more funds to offer. The feeling around Aberdeen is that JC could not bring through youngsters or was reluctant to do so. Whether that opinion holds any credence we'll never know. Going forward McGhee has to hit the ground running in August. No cup exits to lower league sides and minimum top 4 in the league to be considered a decent side - on a negative side due to our terrible league position we won't be seeded for league cup draw therefore will face an SPL side in any case in the 3rd round draw unless one of them goes out in round 2. I think there is a nucleus of a decent team there somewhere and hope McGhee can find the signings to ensure this is the case.
  15. Not much can be said that hasn't already, thought first half we were decent to a point and even applauded them off. Kerr had a great first half. Second half we were terrible and Kilmarnock deserved the win that they got. For me it was the last game of a truly dismal season, I felt weird as feck walking away in the rain looking at the floodlights remembering my first game of the season was a 5-1 destruction by Sigma. Its been awful and I am so glad I won't see them again until August.
  16. Doesn't seem you care that much I really don't believe there'll be a lap of honour, people would go nuts regardless of the result.
  17. Thought it was funny as feck, its not my fault
  18. Read elsewhere Aluko is very unhappy and McGhee has said he can go. Its a bit disapointing as whilst I feel Aluko's been crap this season I still think him and Pawlett on the wings is potentially where we should be heading.
  19. Crikey, even when we were good under Calderwood it was boring as fk to watch. Out of those Aitken 95/96 season was the last decent period we had, think we came 3rd, won a cup and reached semi's in the other, some decent games. Used to go every week for a period of about a decade but lost it when had a son, now he's 3 back going most weeks but appreciate as you said in another post when you don't go regularly you lose the habit and its hard to get "into" if thats the right expression.
  20. Think its bollocks considering Leitch and Meldrum took the training today as McGhee was away scouting.
  21. IN Pub RDL Home AFC 3 Killie 0
  22. That his old man? What a fkn goal that was, agree with the rest of your comment though.
  23. Got told by a Utd mate that Greg Cameron is Dons bound, no info other than that, apparently he's a decent player.
  24. It was the poster above Stoney that raised the subject of Calderwood. JC record at Aberdeen latterly is as horrendous as McGhee's, its clear the players are shite, personally I had hoped McGhee's own players would have been of a standard enough to drive up the team but they have also been shite. That said the clearout is near and after that there's no "its his team" pish and we can just see what happens.
