We apparently binned Lovell for a fitness record that was significantly better. A guy who has been fit most of this season and pinged in 10 goals.

As much as we would like to, there is very little opportunity to control what people will post and comment on with these forums so we just have to run with it, ignore it or swim against it. However, eventually a forum like ours with a relatively manageable amount of traffic will eventually settle into having a 'personality'. Call it what you will, a prevailing opinion, a cultural norm, an accepted viewpoint, it will happen and on DT it feels like the personality is getting a little one sided for me. I am very much with you guys in terms of pragmatism and the avoidance of myopic thinking. The reason I 'live' on DT is the quality of discussion and debate and the reasoned debate over-riding the knee jerk nonsense. However, when we get to the point that its very difficult to make any sort of critical comments about Aberdeen without being pushed out or labelled as some sort of harbinger of doom then the balance gets off centre. Thats when forums become exclusive not inclusive and I think that detracts from their value. I'm not sure why I am ranting about this but its been getting me down lately

Its funny to watch the anti-Aberdeen flames being fanned. They took great exception to the win at Pittodrie and have now decided we are all con-artists in league with the SFA and satan.

Sorry, I read the thread as a speculative effort at how the future might look, wasn't aware I had stumbled back into the relentless, bloody minded defence of everything Aberdeen party. If there are any plans to move the discussion on to new thoughts and opinons then give us a shout, I'll leave my carry out in the fridge in anticipation of better discourse after we have steadied the ship and the flood waters have subsided

Bastardos. A trip to EEP with a monster Dons support would have been a good day out and I can't fucking make this game. Mighty pissed.
-
Glad to see Willie Miller helped him with his homework too.

Someone else will pick up the ball I'm sure. Reading JKB there is a phenomenal persecution complex going on at Hearts and they seem to have thrown us into the melting pot along with the SFA, Timothy and St Mirren for throwing the game in '86 :lolabove: Its classic stuff.

My answer too. God awful form of football, however 'astute' it might be.

He managed Motherwell for a short period as I recall. I'd avoid him.

The fines should be stacking up as well. That disciplinary record ain't getting any better

He has possibly connected Mackie's spell at ICT with some sort of route to 'success'. Certainly any other examples would bear little fruit as a sign its the best thing to do.

I would give him a whirl. At the end of the day, Aberdeen are highly unlikely to see a manager at the club who will deliver much more than the sort of challenge we are putting in now on a consistent basis. We might uncover someone who can give us brief periods of excitement and temporarily have us believing that title challenges, European runs and cup victories are possible. However, if we found a manager who could deliver this regularly then he wouldn't be our manager for long enough to do so. Bottom line is that McGhee is very much in the McLeish style. He would probably do something very interesting in his first season and then we would suffer any number of 'false Dons' (a la Daily Record headlines) after that. Personally, I might just take that one season wonder performance because if you are going to have to suffer inconsistency as a function of poverty then I'll take one killer season anytime.

Especially when Jess does them against huns
-
She has been banging them in for the reserves
-
I would think that she will hang on for 12 months at least. Maybe see that one as a youth squad development for next season if he can hang on to her.

Good to see Vlad whipping the legs out from under his manager. Told him they would be signing a replacement for Berra and a striker and as Shabba sat awaiting the arrival of his new stars, guess what ? No fucker turned up It was claimed that they missed the deadline by 40mins but I'm not swallowing that bullshit. There was never any intention of bringing a new player in, only to cash in on the current ones.

Wouldn't argue with that. Your opinion is as valid as anyone else. -

....a la Pittodrie in the first half against Rangers. Ally S sums it up exactly when he said 'we are not world beaters'. Expectations have to be checked by some people. These guys are all just human beings like the rest of us. They are not at the top of their profession, not even close to it so we have to accept that they under perform from time to time. Oh and Chris, could you not have thought up a better name than Merkie to critique your own article. -

Settle down mate. Nobody suggested that you would be celebrating, that was a big leap to make. I have tried to stay away from the persistent appearances on here from Stoney when things are going poorly because I don't particularly mind the guy and didn't want to get sucked into the discussions. However, it just gets tiresome after a while. I am well aware that everyone wants the best for Aberdeen (as you well know) but there has to be a point where you seek to understand the bigger picture rather than constantly reacting to the downs of our team like they are wholly representative of our fortunes and automatically map future performance. I have my doubts about Calderwood, always have. However, I understand that there are many variables at play here and his limitations, along with those of the players are only one part of the rich tapestry that is Aberdeen FC. If people want to live in the simplistic world where a few simple decisions made correctly that the entire management of the club have failed to see will alter our fortunes then they are welcome to do so. However, don't expect others who believe things to be more complex and multi-layered to provide fertile ground for these simplistic rantings. -
Loving that logic mate, loving it.

We have one of the best away records in the league and I can't recall us winning any games at Parkhead, Ibrox, Tynecastle, Tannadice or Easter Road. I must conclude that our apparent inability to put away the lesser sides in the league is a little overstated. Lets be honest, the real annoyance everyone is feeling is not about Mackie or Calderwood or any other individual, its simply the frustration of another lost opportunity. So lets just simmer down a little and move to the next opportunity and be satisfied that no matter how many times we make a cunt of it, the teams around us are going to continue to do the same. It was the same last year, we were losing games hand over fist and still we had the opportunity to end up 3rd but for one result at Fir Park late in the season. This is a league of inconsistency, of hot and cold performances and frustrating results that drive us all demented. We will be in the mix for 3rd and should be well placed to claim it come the end of the season. There will be ups and downs along the way and its why we enjoy being Dons fans. Suck it up soldiers

Severin without doubt

If Mackie plays I will never be back.
