  1. Despite the frothing at the mouth that has surrounded Aluko's signing I suspect he will not be deployed in as many games as you might think.
  2. Lots of comedy references to dropped balls must have ensued ?
  3. 'One month in where will we finish?' Why, I'll go for 6th. One month gone, oh look I've won.
  4. On a completely unrelated, but related story, I was listening to Sportsound on the way home last night. They were talking to Darren Barr about his inclusion in the Scotland squad and they had Jack Ross in the studio, a former team mate of Barr at Falkirk. When they asked Darren what he thought of Jack he said 'Jack always liked his gear'. I didn't think they could do that shit with testing and stuff
  5. Boooooo. Burn the heretic. We don't want your realism here...not today. Boooooooo
  6. So much fever about a white top. This place really is full of the sort of people I avoid in public places
  7. Being able to meet like minded people, shamelessly promote myself to them and give them free stuff to curry favour about sums it up for me
  8. Sone Alukoooooooo Sone Alukoooooooo Coming down the wing Here the dandies sing Sone Alukoooooooo Sone Alukoooooooo Dancer Well pleased with that bit of news. No need to listen to 'through the window' tonight in the impossible hope that we make a dramatic late signing.
  9. Exactly how I saw it. Could have gone either way. Personally I think the boy cut across Miller and took him out (although it does look like Miller may have done the cutting across in fairness). Miller made a meal of it and this was his undoing. Move on.
  10. Not sure if we are much weaker, I suspect we are more defensive in terms of our midfield which will not exactly help feed the hunger for attacking football. However, I think we could be a stronger side in terms of conceding possession and goals. It could be worse, we could have signed Sol Bamba Thank fuck for JC and the Sol sign ban (see what I did there )
  11. We had a storming season at the back when Seve & Markus bossed the midfield. Its about time we got this dynamic back so I hope you are right.
  12. The two 'off the line clearances' that were reported in the press and on the radio were both going across the face of the goal JDV plays a beautiful 1-2 and goes in on goal and all the commentator says is 'he was asking a lot to score from there'. Meanwhile he is creaming himself about Billy Mehmet blasting balls over from 6 yards.
  13. Thought it was 50/50 on the pen. Could have been decided either way.
  14. Strikers go 2-1 up Only 28 to go now and both Mackie and Maguire off the blocks. Defence - 1 Midfield - 1 Strikers - 2
  15. Very good against Ayr by all accounts and sounds like he was good again today ?
  16. As I said in the triple swoop thread, I think that might be a decent piece of business. I think Andy will shape up to be a decent player when he eradicates the errors from his game. To get him tied up for 4 years means we aren't going to lose him for free if he improves significantly over the next 2 years.
  17. Having done some very very shit research I came up with the following: 2006/07 our 6 strikers bagged 32 goals (Daal-2, Crawford-3, Lovell-9, Mackie-13, Maguire-1 and Miller-4) 2007/08 our 6 strikers bagged 27 goals (Aluko-3, Brewster-3, Lovell-3, Mackie-2, Maguire-4 and Miller-12) I don't think European goals are counted in these stats. Incidently, I think in 2007/08 our midfield got 17 goals with 8 players chipping in (Touzani, Clark, Foster, Nicholson, Severin, Smith, Young and JDV) If these stats are correct then it would seem that 30 goals from your strike force brings you a fairly average season in terms of convincing victories and real progress. 40 goals would probably feel like a consistently good season. The difference between 2006/07 and 2007/08 looks like a second striker who can pitch in with around 8-10 goals. We missed that last season.
  18. Honesty is all well and good but sometimes you have to do a little bit of talking yourself up to build confidence. Its not like he was saying that they were on top of their game, he is just trying to use some positive, rather than negative language to provide some forward momentum for him and his team mates. The club badly needs it and I for one welcome the approach.
  19. So do you suggest that they pushed out an article saying they were struggling to find any form together and it had been a huge mistake to put them both in our squad and they have discussed just leaving the club to save it from further disappointment. Players have to put out positive stories about the progress being made. Its an important part of confidence building and belief in the way they are trying to play. Lets be comforted that they are feeling some sense of progress and hope they can build on the lack of confidence that exists in the club and support. We certainly won't see progress if we kick them down at every turn.
  20. Read in the press that it was Foster.
  21. Why wouldn't it ? Its not like its a competition with rules. Its just a motivational statement sent out by the management to challenge his strikers. I'm backing them for 40 C'mon the front
  22. Considine for 4 years looks like OK business. I think he might be a decent player in the future when he cuts out errors in his game
  23. Dunfermline for me. Pies galore
  24. Defence - 1 Midfield - 1 Strikers - 1 Off the mark now. 29 to go. Go strikers go
  25. Thats what I said, only with a little less despair.
