I think its fairly common for holding midfielders who are slowing up in the later stages of their careers to drop back into central defensive roles. Its also fairly common for lightweight CBs with youth and speed on their side to operate in FB positions from time to time when injuries in small squads bite. As for players in the Foster/Clark catagory they have always had a flexible role in the squad and when budgets are tight and squad sizes are under pressure it makes sense to use these types of players where you need them most. While I agree that JC makes some crazy tactical/positional decisions in games, I agree with ST that its a little hysterical to claim that it goes on endlessly.

Motherwelll ST holder at my work reckons they are dire in defence and we could easily take them. Its all about which defence can keep themselves together best I suspect.

I'd fucking love the other SPL sides to get together and start developing policy designed to push the scum out of the SPL. Then their fans wouldn't have to be put out by travelling the 'length and breadth of the country'. They would soon realise that this is a two-way street and they need us to survive, they seem to think its all the other way round. The SPL may not be competitive and may not bring them enough revenue but where are they without it ? Fucking nowhere, thats where.

No matter who the opposition is, Maguire knocking in some goals can only be a good thing. 5 goals from forwards is also a good sign. Little acorns and all that.

Presume that JC is clinging on to the notion that if he can find an effective target man who can not only jump up in the air, occassionally get his head onto the ball but more critically, actually direct it to the feet of a penalty box striker that we might get some more goals from the likes of bebo and Mackie. Its a long shot but with our resources might be the only one we have at present

I am quite happy to see AFC trying to secure signings for as little as they can get away with. Its what every business does and they would be neglegant in their duties if they didn't do it. The problem as I see it is I just don't think that JC and the others involved in securing these players are particularly good at their job. Guys like Levein and Hughes are just steadily getting on with the job of building their squads without all the bravado and gusto that surrounds our club. I'm not convinced Aberdeen have an effective plan to build a decent squad for next year and every player we are involved with, both internally and externally, only serves to compound that view as deals collapse or players hold out forever before rubber dicking the club. All of the problems that frustrate the hell out of us all are down to poor management from top to bottom. There may be people at the club who are capable in certain areas but we are woefully short of some outstanding stewardship at the Aberdeen FC, thats the long and short of it for me.

When Cheltnham Town are in for the same striker as us I just know its time to take up fucking golf this year

If thats the case then I'd say bollocks to JC. He really does have a mentality of 'in my gang' or not. There are players who can do no wrong and then players who can do no right. If he decides you are not required then he will happily leave you out of the side and give you away for fuck all. Its not even grown up let alone professional or commercially astute.

Problem is that people are tending to judge him on a few classy performances (mainly in europe or for 15 mins at the end of games) and the fact he wasn't given the chance to do much more might well be that he had very little more to give. I quite like him as a player but maybe thats because I would prefer we had the luxury of being able to play hi sstyle of football. Simple fact is we don't so its maybe not the craziest idea to sell him on. Doesn't hide the fact that we are getting weaker not stronger though
