JC doesn't like players who can only play in one position. JDV is good at one thing, Aluko is good at one thing. Clark is 'versatile', 'flexible', 'dynamic', 'fluid'.......in other words, he's not good at anything. JC would rather have versatility from average players than brilliance from players who focus on one aspect of their game......I think.

Soutar can talk about lookalikes! Remember the dude in wierd science ? Or that gimp in the Goonies ?
-
The pitch would never survive. It barely (see what I did?) copes with football. I doubt whether 243 rubgay fans in Pittodrie would be anything to get excited about. Anyway, does Richie Byrne not already play a game closely associated with Rubgay at Pittodrie ?
-
Pretty sure Jamie Smith will get thrown in to this one if fit. That will mean no start for Aluko ? Clark will take JDV's spot too. Back to the same bullshit that has underperformed all season. Fucking glad I won't be there. Saving £27 to look at a green screen. Thats about 5 litre bottles of San Mig

.....and the moon on a stick would be nice

I will be no my own on Tuesday night, as Jay doesn't arrive until Wednesday so no Miles sandwich available I'm afraid. Sneckie, you have a responsibility here so just swallow it. You are the one who asked HD to share with you so quit trying to offload her.

There was talk of it for Tynecastle, fuck I'm glad it never came to fruition. That would have been a disaster. Some beach balls may be required for Madrid though! Personally, I just talk about these things and let others make tits of themselves

Food there is not up to much. Must be somewhere better surely ?

I'm going to say something many will most definitely not agree with here. Before i do, let me say my piece and understand this is just my opinion, and everyone's entitled to one. Right, here goes... I thought Brewster was largely pish for us. I don't think he was anything like as fit as he needed to be, he was too old to be a viable long term option, only had about 4 decent games for us in all his time here and set Miller's career with us back to the extent that he's only rediscovering some kind of form 2 months after he left. One good thing Brewster was though was a communicator. He would talk players through games in a way that nobody on the pitch currently does. I'll give him that. Now, i'm coming across as some kind of massive bummer of Lee Miller right now - and in general today, come to think of it. I'm not, i think he's really rather limited in what he can do, but i think he does it quite well. Anyway, he's reputedly one of our highest paid players. Why disrupt his progress by bringing in the man who all but sacked him from his last club and branded him unprofessional and a bad influence as he did so? There, i've said it. I've dug out my flak jacket in anticipation... I would agree with most of that assessment with regards to Brewster. The biggest asset he used to effect with us was his communication and example setting. As far as being a prolific striker he had a few good moments, half his goals this season came from an expert clown performance from a hibs keeper. More often that not Brewster looked old, immobile and unfit when he played for us. I have yet to decide if I think Miller is a waste of skin or not. After our first 6 games I was screaming for him to go but he has scored a few nice goals and worked harder in games. The problem is that we don't appear to ever really play the right type of football for any of our strikers. Miller - utterly useless at the lone striker yet played in that role regularly, needs a partner with close ball control and a sharp eye (anyone spring to mind ?) Lovell - needs an agressive, ball winner playing off the strikers to thread him ball on the deck...might be a good partner for Aluko but never gonna happen in the JC 4-1-4-1 set up. Mackie - seems to like the lone striker option but gets no service from our midfield whenever we play him there Aluko - Can't play the long ball game, so we employ it when he is playing (see Moscow) Maguire - simply doesn't get a game I just wish we would decide on a formation and the right personnel and get used to it.

I'm up for that. I have the day off so aside from school drop off and a sneaky christmas shop for the wife in the a.m. I am free from lunch time onwards

Buying players with reputations who have peaked (or passed peak) is JCs way. I wish he would take a chance on some youth players, not necessarily Maguire but even further down the ranks or scout some from the lower leagues. He seems too loyal towards strikers who are simply not doing the job, its perplexing.

I'm really getting up for this trip now. Has anyone found a cheap, 7 day travel insurance policy which covers you for alcohol poisining and having your wallet 'stolen' by Bobby Moores ?
-
Being written off suits us well. Bring on Johnny.

Willie did everything better in the 80's. Cock dusters are not cool.
-
We could add 'We fucked Real' as well

Its a great draw for us in terms of the fixtures. I think most of th eteams in our group are not setting their relative leagues on fire at the moment. A cheeky draw in Greece will set us up nicely. Loco and Copenhagen do not travel well as far as I have seen. Its defo not over, there is more drama to come. Only thing for sure is that we will get horsed in Madrid and 5000 dandies will not give a flying fuck
-
Why do we care ? Job done, next team please. We have bigger fish to fry, big Greek fish.

The next seven weeks - a football fiesta

Europe is all I'm interested in at this point. Bring on the gloryhunting I say -
I've booked Edinburgh to Madrid - tues night to Friday morning. £180. Nightmare getting flights already!
-
Prices are changing all the time. Easy jet was £40 direct from Edinburgh and now its £180.
-
Bobby dazzler. Madrid in November then. Good chance of getting some points at home too.
-
This is doing my box in. I have to head into town in 30 mins for an afternoon meeting. Get the FUCKING draw finsihed for FUCK SAKE
-
I'd consider that ideal. Might as well play the teams we won't beat away from home and get a trip to Madrid. Leaving us the teams we 'might' beat to come to us.
-
I'm pinning my hopes on Madrid too! I'd take Copenhagen but rather have them at home as we could possibly beat them.

So does anyone actually have the feed for the placings allocation ? I can't access it on my mac at work.
