Just started reading Arctic Chill by Arnaldur Indridtasson. Not a bad start to the book so far.

Duff, Mackie, Young and Wright to leave?
manc_don replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Totally, I'm sure we all agree that the future of this club is to be like hibs, a selling club. Obviously, I hope and pray we can sell our players for the price that HIVs do. So selling players to England is no bad thing, as long as its not at the drop of a hat! Oh and Leith, its his USP Mini, Klimpl came from Slovenia did he not? I always thought that we should be utilising the Eastern European market a bit wiser than the likes of...christ, what his name? That tall Czech guy? -
Duff, Mackie, Young and Wright to leave?

Its a sad indictment of the times that we cannot compete with lower league teams in England, but if the future is as bright as the little glimpse we've had this season, we should be ok. My only concern is though is that we need someone in the middle of the park that will dictate play, and I doubt any of our youth are ready to take on that role just yet. -

I'm hoping that maybe he's keeping his cards close to his chest. Because we have to get a creative midfielder. -

By the looks of things, or rather how i've interpretted them, it doesn't look like these guys will be leaving in Jan. McGhee's in today's P&J saying we won't be strengthening our squad in Jan -
Zidane would be the name, but has fuck all experience. Thats still quite shocking though, that team on paper should be enough to beat most in la Liga let alone some team in a division lower than them. Joys of football I guess

I think someone on MAD said this was on Alba, I've noticed that you can watch it live now on iplayer, does anyone know if this is the case for the game as well? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/gd/playlive/bbc_alba/

Now we all know that is a lie Robo Liverpool deserved it, but there were some odd decisions in the match that certainly favoured you. But hey ho, it was your cup final, we aren't going to begrudge you that. Come back when you've actually won the premier league

I see in today's P&J they say contract talks with Kerr and Mcdonald are in the offing. No mention of Fyvie but hopefully the club will be doing something about that behind the scenes! One worrying thing in the interview was though, he mentioned Sone isn't fit enough yet (true enough) but he needs to get fitter to force his way past Paton? Now, surely Paton should NOT be playing out on the wing?
-
It was mentioned that we (the fans and possibly McGhee) wanted to extend his deal. But I think this is just making it all official.

I don't think he was chasing players that he was never going to get (Hughes aside). And, as Ajja rightly says, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, the fans very rarely do. This season is a transition season, but lets not go overboard with the arab result, we usually lose to them. Now whilst it is increasingly frustrating that neither he nor JC seem to be able to tackle Avril with Aberdeen, we do finish above them at the end of the season This season, we have to be extra patient for the very reason that it is a transition season, hopefully in Jan we'll be able to get a couple of players in in Jan. But this Saturday, we really need to play 4-4-2, as I said, our midfield is incredibly lightweight at the moment and we need to nullify the HIVees attacking play and get them on the counter, which is where they are very vunerable. MM forget about 4-3-3 (4-5-1) until you get the players in that are able to play your chosen style.
-
Positive to read that we are actually on the ball for a change, and I hope he signs. I have a feeling he may wait until Jan though, or am I being too sceptical?
-
I recommend watching the whole of these highlights, good game with some great finishes (FAO: Lee Miller, this is how you finish from that position). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfpvLjKl_uc

I have to say, I'm not confident about this at all. I fear the worst, but I hope that McGhee fires the team up after what was an embarrassing home defeat to our local rivals. Will we see a return of the Ultras "play for the jersey" banner?

Dundee Spend Equivalent of our Entire Budget on 1 Player
manc_don replied to Montana's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
To be honest, I wonder if he's a bit of an ego maniac. There are ways to invest in the team, without handing it to a manager/board he doesn't agree with. Why not invest directly in the youth setup? I just wonder if this wasn't big enough for him? -
I liked it, and as you said, dealt with an aspect of India that doesn't get written about very often. It was a bit lightweight, certainly from reading the back, you got the impression he was going to go a bit further and make you feel bad for feeling the way you did, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Agreed, can only be a good thing for the TMSTID I don't think anyone at Dundee would be stupid enough to actually allow the club to go down the same route as they did before, surely? -
From watching the highlights, a few things came to my attention. - Fyvie was unlucky with his effort, I'm sure he's put those kind of chances away often enough before. Hopefully he doesn't let it affect his confidence. - Miller, looked promising early on though his effort from the Paton cross should have done better. He did everything right, I still don't know how he missed. - Paton should be played through the middle and not on the wing. I don't think we're getting the best out of him there, and it would appear the commentator felt the same. - Ross looked promising and it was encouraging to see him take on the defender and knock a decent cross in the box. Shame no-one was on the end of it but encouraging nonetheless. How was his defending? Dundee united looked like the deserved the result and fair play to them, the weather cannot be used as an excuse for this defeat, as they coped and took their chances. We really need to address the midfield in Jan, can anyone shed any light on McDonald, did he actually play? We are far too lightweight in this department and I hope something will be done about it.

Is the Buenos Aires derby any good mini? Watched a bit of it but not a lot was happening.

I said to topcorner yesterday afternoon that I feared that this would be a bad weekend for football, and it was How Carragher managed to stay on the pitch was beyond me. Liverpool deservered it today, they wanted it more, but the didn't half help them along. What is the point in Nani I was really shocked he didn't bring Anderson on.
-
At least we're consistent at something
-
Wondered that very thing myself. But Nicholson did get some stick initially from some quarters because of his origin and his poor performances, but he soon won them over anyway.

I'm interested to see if McGhee bring Ross straight into the team (what with him being a natural right back) but either way, 3 points please! COME ON YOU REDS. Lets get intae these minky bastards! :ultras: :ultras: :ultras:
